  1. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 02:31 PM) Okay, so here's my question. If he maintains this form over the next few weeks but the Sox offense continues to waste quality starts, is Jose more valuable as a trading chip or finishing out his contract with the Sox (ends this year, right)? I know a lot of factors come into play, but let's just say the Sox are still in 3rd place and about 5 games back. Does anyone think Jose can bring back any decent trade deadline haul? I would say move him, the angels are once again desperate for an arm, and the mets need one badly as well if they're going to supress the marlins and catch up with phillies. Names i would consider: Wood, Arredondo, F-Mart, Holt, Flores
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 05:54 PM) How awesome is Baltimore's offense starting to look for the future? Wieters Markakis Jones Scott Reimold They need to get some pitching and infielders though. Trading Brian Roberts and Aubrey Huff for a young starter or two would be a good start. yea they defiantly have the outfield DH and C covered now they just need an infield. I think moving huff and roberts along with their closer would expedite that.
  3. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 07:57 PM) I don't hope he will, but I'm afraid trying to play minor league baseball at 17 with a bunch of 20/21 year olds might be a little overwhelming. And that could cause him to not live up to his potential. His parents make me sick whether it's their idea or his to go pro early. If it's their idea, shame on them for using their son to get a big payday and make him miss out on 2 great years of his life. You're only a kid once. But, if this is mainly his idea, it's their job to step up and not let their son leave high school after 2 years. They should protect him from turning pro at such a young age and going into the world of grown men. Honestly I'm fine with it, its far tougher for a kid being signed for big $ out of the DR or Venezuela, than him, think of the culture shock those kids endure. your making it sound like his parents are just in it for the money, im sure its a mitigating circumstance but if i was his age and had his skills, i would want to turn pro early too. i love how we're in awe of latin 16 and 18 year old prospects but the moment an American kid wants to get into the game as quickly as possible we look down upon it.
  4. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 06:29 PM) Defense is adequate enough. When he makes contact, children should cover their eyes, it's scary. I would agree with this, when i seen him in West Tenn i thought he received the ball very well and blocked nicely, i didnt get a chance to see his arm though, but after living with AJ for the past 4 years i don't think anyone would complain. and yes when he hits the ball he drills it. Once again this is only my opinion after watching him for 9innings, but i made sure to make a focus on it.
  5. i rather enjoy bacon as his nic name
  6. Honestly i really like what they did, now just sign the tough signs and add that depth, we've got a ton of money coming off the books next year there is no reason we can't stock up on talent. Also i really like the fact that they took high upside guys like Mitchell, Thompson and Goodwin, now just sign them.
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 02:52 PM) Jake Fox is most likely a AAAA player. I wouldn't at all make a trade for Jenks without getting at least two upper echelon prospects in return. We have no need to move Jenks and he's paid just fine and is still very young and under our control for a bit longer. Vitters would have to be part of the trade and there is no way the Cubs deal him. Plus the rest of the Cubs system is pretty piss poor so they aren't a good partner, imo. agreed the cubs system is incredibly piss poor, and any dealings the cubs look to make Vitters name will be brought up. Personally i wouldnt mind Guzman either.
  8. Tom Kelly anyone, he would be perfect for a youth movement
  9. Yea josh fields time on the southside is numbered. Hopefully Dayan and Allen can go on a power surge down at AA. the future with this team is so exciting, if we are out of it, our farm system is only going to get even more depth. Also seeing how winnable the central is, i wouldn't be surprised in the least to see the sox pull a play out of the marlins book and compete next year with a very solid young rotation, except we'll actually be able to hold down the win because we've got a lock down pen and good relief prospects to supplement the movement of those in the pen now.
  10. honestly, i think josh just might need a change of scenery. i wouldn't be surprised to see Josh traded for Travis Buck once buck comes off the DL
  11. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 08:28 PM) Maybe he should label them as "wet dreams". haha i was pretty explicit with "rosterbate"
  12. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 07:45 PM) I would jizz all over the TV if that happened. haha let me ammend and add our last pick 23rd - Rex Brothers LHP 38th - Tony Sanchez C 61st - Drew Storen CL/RHP 71st - Aaron Miller RF/LHP 102nd - Matt Hobgood RHP(HS) if some how KW pulled that off, well words can't describe it.
  13. Here is my rosterbating for the draft and two predictions: Grant Green drops past the 20th pick and Tanner Scheppers drops past the 15th pick. I doubt in my wildest dreams this is are draft but for the next 23 hours i will dream. 23rd - Rex Brothers 38th - Tony Sanchez 61st - Drew Storen 71st - Aaron Miller

  15. QUOTE (Stocking @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 06:44 AM) anyone download FF7 from PSN? Six hours deep, still the best game eva. EVER! one of my favorite games. I'm really excited about ffxiv all though ffxi took a ton of my time away.
  16. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 01:20 AM) I would love to see Flowers and his .920 OPS and .440 OBP up with the Sox very soon, but I don't know where AJ is going to go. The only team I noticed right off the bat that might want AJ would be Milwaukee because of Jason Kendall's struggles. I could see the Mets, Milwaukee, Rays and Rangers all interested in Aj
  17. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 10:04 AM) FWIW, Adam Jones had a poor K rate in MLB last year, and in the minors had about a 1:3 BB:K rate while Danks's is about 1:2. that is true, also Jones is a year older thank danks, and was at least getting his feet wet at age 20 with Seattle.
  18. not sure if this has been brought up but has anyone seen what Ben Zobrist is doing lately? .303/.414/.659 1.073 10HR drays bay had a nice write up about it here apparently hes crediting Jaime Cevallos thoughts?
  19. QUOTE (scenario @ Jun 1, 2009 -> 10:50 PM) Fastball (90-92mph) with sink; slider; and changeup. All 3 are solid pitches. Good K/9 of over 10 last year; around 9.0 for his career. The slider is his strikeout pitch. According to Baseball America, it's the best slider of any Sox prospect. Some concerns about his control. Not bad problems, just enough to raise questions about MLB potential. BB/9 around 4.3 last year. In his minor league career though, it's right at around 3.0 which is respectable. Down to 3.3 this year. Reputation of having a closer-type personality... thrives on pressure. He was selected as the top reliever in the Southern League in 2008. Personally... I like the fact he has 3 good pitches. I think that'll earn him a shot. His control will determine how long he keeps it. thanks
  20. does anyone have a solid scouting report on link? also I can't wait for the future.
  21. that is why you dont f***ing bunt, just let the iron of the order do their job and minimize the outs before them.
