  1. No doubt, Amanda Byrnes is built well. I'm not too keen on that Hilalry Duff, but that may be because its ILLEGAL for me to be keen on her!!! Well, actually, I just don't think she is all that, but thats just IMO. I'll post my future Ex-wife for you all though...

AND, my friends, he is our 3rd catcher also. Did ya know that? Tony G is a great asset to a team, a guy that can fill in when needed, is adequate, not great, at several positions, and doesn't mind being the utility player on a team that can win. He made 675K last year in 2003, if we can get him for 600K, I don't see why you don't bring him back. I think he would return, as long as he isn't offered a starting job elsewhere.

  5. And he'll have Flutie Flakes handing him the ball!! Brees has had a MAJOR sophomore season slump. He is in a major funk right now, not accurate in the least with his passes.
  6. Honestly, BE GOOD, the 'Fins went up against the 2nd hottest team in the NFL(with Tennessee being the 1st). When Peyton is on his game, and he has Harrison, Wayne, Pollard, etc to throw the ball to, not too many teams in the league are gonna do much with them. Especially since Dungy has done such great things with that Indy D.

Oh, and BTW, in case it hasnt been said, Welcome to Soxtalk krammer99!!!
  8. Oh contraire, mon fraire.....uh, I think thats how you spell that. Don't discount Favre when its a must win situation. The guy is one of the best in the game All-Time, whether Bears fans like it or not. Minny is semi-reeling after these last couple of games.

Damn Apu....thats pretty sad. Kinda hard to preach against one "evil" to the masses, and partake in that same evil with young boys. :puke I say to most of the "Higher" Ups in corporate America

Well, heres something concerning Cito that worries me a bit. You will find the answers to your questions here, DBAH0. From Saturdays Chicago-Tribune, here if you want to read it for yourself: OK, that is precisely NOT what we need. But, then again, I am not so sure I want Ozzie in here at age 39. Somehow I believe that would create potential animosity with some fo the vets, a la Sandy and Frank. So then, apparently IMO neither is the right choice for this team, but coincidentally it looks like one of the 2 above WILL be our manager.

Damn, thanks BE GOOD. I appreciate the kind words. Too bad I had to pay Jas a $12.95/month service fee to let me Mod!!!
  13. Actually, I think KW would trade Maggs before any other GM would. KW doesnt have the emotional attachment to some of these guys that the rest of the Front Office do. K-Dub realizes that if he wants to field a team that can make some postseason noise, it may be very necessary to not have a 14 million dollar clog in your payroll system. If the right offer comes along, KW pulls the trigger IMO, and doesn't think twice. Soriano and a prospect(do the Yanks still have a minor league system?? , or are the other MLB teams it) will get the Yanks Ordonez.

There will be no ditching by this mod, I assure you. Thanks guys, I am glad to be here and help, and do more if needed.
  15. It is unfortunately not who we should WANT to keep on this team, but who we can AFFORD to keep. No 1 player should make 20% of your designated payroll for a 25 man roster. Its not economically sound. I want Maggs here as much as anyone, but if the right offer is made, then I'm sorry, but he has to go. Soriano is a)younger; b)cheaper; c)fills a position we need. He can put up similar or even better numbers than Maggs, and he doesnt put a strain on the teams finances like Maggs. If Ordonez wants to restructure his 2004 salary, provided it comes along with a 2-3 year extension, then I say please lets do it. But if not, then something must be done.
  16. Well, I don't think you are gonna get more than Soriano + pitching prospect for Maggs. No chance they throw in Nick Johnson also. It would have to be a Maggs + Rauch/Cotts type deal for Soriano + Johnson, and even that most likely will not be enough.
  17. Capn12 replied to greg775's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You got it, man. That is the situation. The numbers are there for Soriano, and at a MUCH cheaper price. I am probably in the minority here, but I'm all for that trade.
  18. Sorry to hear that, Mark. We'll look forward to seeing ya back on the boards soon!!
  19. That first line you typed there bones r, that was a joke right? Go listen to almost any rock band out there right now, and see if they dont list The Beatles as one of their main influences. BANDS, people that play music and write it, not people that sing lyrics written by others.
  20. Jas, a couple of things. 1st, I for one DO NOT want another infielder-to-centerfield experiment during the season. If Soriano comes over, he plays 2B, and we live with the defense. Also, if we decline Sullys 3 mill option, I'm not sure he is gonna turn back around and re-up with us for less money. Also, I STILL am not sold on bringing in Ponson at a contract that is worth more per year than our farm grown guys that may deserve more. I don't think anyone will be trying to acquire Konerko, that money is super glued to our payroll for 2004. Same for Koch. Everett will go somewhere else, but honestly, if we can do the trade for Soriano, that opens up RF for Carl. CR would have to be AaRow/Reed Spring Training winner. With the raises to Loaiza (~500K-->3.5 mil), Konerko (6 mil-->8 mil), we are already adding payroll on to a number still supposedly set at about 51 mill. The ONLY way we get to have a 60 mill payroll is if Colon signs, thats it. If not, JR gets to staple his wallet back.
  21. Capn12 replied to greg775's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Folks, baseball is a game of economics, plain and simple. Profits and losses, attendance numbers and concession sales. I'm sorry that some people on here think that Maggs is the Almighty himself, cause he is not. There are guys out there putting up the numbers that he is putting up making ALOT less than the $14 mill he is scheduled to make. When such moves are to be made, economics are the #1 deciding factor, I'm sorry to tell you that. I'm all for trading Maggs if he doesn't want to rework his contract for this year, reward him with an extension on top of it. But if he doesn't, and the right offer comes along, I say Thanks for what you did for the franchise Maggs, but we are forced to make a move that fits our current financial situation. Now, for some posters that say, "Anyone that wants to trade Maggs is a retard" or something along those lines: listen, I would be probably low on my estimates that at least 90% of Sox fans don't want Maggs going anywhere. Fact of the matter is, if we can make a move that will benefit the WHOLE club, and clear some payroll room, we must do so. $14 mill for 1 player on a $60 mill, 25 player roster is unacceptable, plain and simple.
  22. yeah...and then they dropped out of oblivion, like the rest of british music before Oasis...AND THEN, RH came back AFTER Oasis blew the door right open... which brings me to... which is even easier for me....you're wrong. sigur Ros? they influenced who? the 12 people who bought their album? If you would have said Bjork, then maybe...cos she's why anyone even listens to Sigur Ros. good lord...I need to go home. Oh give me a break, you're full of s*** and you know it. The Bends was immensely popular, and with Pablo Honey Radiohead created a considerable fan base. Was OK Computer huge because of Oasis? No, and neither was The Bends. Sigur Ros hasn't influenced anyone? Radiohead has made it pretty clear that part of Kid A was based off of Agaetis Byrjun, the group's 2nd album after Von. Also, I love it how you're completely ignorant and assume the following: Sigur Ros is unpopular and everyone likes Sigur Ros because of Bjork. I don't listen to Bjork at all, and I really doubt I will.
