  1. He has always had guys play crazy additional positions. I don't think you would see Greg's dream and have TA catching, but you may see Moncada in RF or even Abreu. He had Mike Squires a lefty, GG quality 1B, play 3B and C.
  2. Is that why they sent Coop packing and no one else? This is scary. Hopefully, Tony tells these guys he's 76 years old and doesn't need this anymore, and remembers when Hawk fired him, no one though Hawk was an idiot to do so.
  3. I don't really know why so many people bash Bob. He does have a lot of White Sox stuff. Who else has LaRussa stuff. And last winter, he was as accurate as any of the experts.
  4. Actually, I kind of agree with him there, but I will take it a step further. If you are at the point you have to ask a pitcher how they are feeling, it is time to take them out of of the game.
  5. I am older than most here and I saw LaRussa manage the Sox for a few years. There was nothing that made him exceptional. Firing him was something you heard on the few sports talk shows and in newspapers at the time, all the time. I think his winning was more the product of his organization. Who wouldn't have won with the rosters he had? I wouldn't have much age bias if he were 65, but if you listen to interviews with him, he has certainly slowed down, and he is 76. I was happy Hawk canned him. I think Fregosi was just as good, and when the team got good, I don't think LaRussa could have handled them any better than Torborg. He has only been out of managing 1 more season than Ozzie, but I really think they have to go with a younger guy. Hinch's cheating is really a problem for me, but if he can overcome that, he certainly has to be more desirable than Tony. Who knows, maybe playing the LaRussa card was the only way KW and RH could convince JR to send Ricky away.
  6. The White Sox lost 2 games in Cleveland they should have won in the 9th and 10th innings with Ruiz and Gonzalez pitching. With 28 man rosters, in a series that big, where as it turned out 1 win would have meant winning the division, having your worst 2 pitchers on the mound in that situation is inexcusable. I could see if it was the 12th inning or later, but not the 9th or 10th.
  7. Bauer shouldn't be so easily triggered or people are going to really start trying to get him to snap.
  8. If Roberts can't win with the Dodgers roster, I don't know how you would expect him to win with the White Sox roster.
  9. There was a 20% increase in death between March and July in the US this year. 67% of those deaths were attributed to Covid 19. So anyone thinking the Covid death rate is way overreported and also used for fraud are wrong again.
  10. Bochy has managed 25 seasons and is under .500 for his career. His teams have won 90 or more games 4 times in those 25 years, and he is 65. I believe his time has passed.
  11. Or are they throwing LaRussas name out there so when hire Hinch, people are so happy it isn’t LaRussa they stop any cheater talk.
  12. Rick, If the choice is between a cheater and 76 year old To y LaRussa, hire the cheater.
  13. I think they are using Bob with LaRussa to keep Hinch’s asking price down a bit. LaRussa? You have got to be bleeping me. It is scary they send Coop packing, is that to make room for Dave Duncan? If, for some reason this happens, they are going to have to fire Hahn and hire Hawk to be the GM, so someone can do the right thing and fire LaRussa.
  14. You look at Hinch's background, he is an advanced metrics team's wet dream as a manager. That said, he did cheat, or at least as a leader, he didn't stop it. That's a problem. Apparently not big enough to make him a non candidate.
  15. Matt Nagy is now the dean of Chicago professional sports franchises head coaches/managers.
  16. It wouldn't surprise me if the Sox already have an agreement with Hinch but can't announce it because of his suspension and have to fake interview a couple of minority candidates. Things were just too telegraphed towards him yesterday.
  17. I get the people that want this guy. I get the people who don't want the Sox to even consider him. The only people I don't get are those that think what happened with him doesn't matter at all. It should matter some, maybe not enough to say he shouldn't be a manager, but at least enough for you to weigh it for a little bit.
  18. AJ makes too much money with a part time broadcasting gig. Why would he want to take a paycut and work every day?
  19. I'm bothered but it won't make me protest and boycott White Sox baseball. I do think it's a pretty big managerial characteristic flaw he had, and I also don't think he is the reason they won 100 games a year, but if he can run a bullpen, we will be better off.
  20. This is easy to say now, but if the Sox won the division, the crazy stuff doesn't happen in Cleveland, and doesn't happen in the playoffs, there is no way RR isn't back. One more win, they win the division. He showed when the chips were down his way wasn't the right way.
  21. Just to be clear, I don’t have a problem with people here ripping him or fans calling into a radio show ripping him or sports talk hosts ripping him. That’s all part of the gig. Steve Stone is associated with the team, he should hold back.
  22. Joe Girardi and Joe Maddon didn’t exactly have the effect their teams were anticipating.
  23. RR is supposed to be a good guy. He very publicly lost his job. Kicking him while he is down doesn’t accomplish anything. I know in this day and age, letting everyone have it is what a lot of people like. I just think you can be a little classier about it.
  24. Stone was also really impressed with Rudy Jaramillo when the Cubs hired him. That didn’t last long, and no one wanted him after that. If it is Hinch fine. But I don’t think that guarantees the Sox 105 wins. I also think the cheating stuff is going to hang around him. But as long as he can run a bullpen, it will be an improvement.
