And that's part of the problem. But it's like people driving drunk and making it home unscathed. They didn't kill anyone so it must be alright.

I agree. Mask should be mandatory in the dugout. Hand sanitizer should be put on every half inning. The dugout should be a ghost town except for those in the game, and high fives, bumping elbows, etc. need to be eliminated.

Travelling by plane is interesting. My cousin's wife is Mexican and her father is very ill in Mexico, so he had to go down there. He was wearing goggles, a mask, gloves and a face shield on the plane. He texted a picture. Then yesterday, my neighbor and her partner were outside with a bunch of suitcases and I asked if they were taking a vacation. It turns out her grandmother is dying in California and they were going to drive out there. I showed her a picture of my cousin and told her flights roundtrip to LAX were something like $75. She should fly. I think she did.

Owners are banking for a playoff payoff. It will probably take multiple teams being devastated or one stacked team which could make the season a joke, to cancel it.
-
Think about how things have changed. Back several months ago, one NBA player tested positive and it basically shut sports down. Now a team is devastated by it, and it's play on.
-
I wonder if this was the Yankees or the Dodgers if the season would be put on hold already. Since it's the Marlins, while it is sounding the alarms, probably not as loud as it would have with the biggest names.

A few states opened up before reaching the CDC guidelines for opening up. They were praised by the WH, however, those states are in a whole world of hurt right now. As much as I love watching baseball, to say because I work, they must, is beyond selfish. Selfish most likely being the biggest reason the US is having such a problem with this virus.
-
And if you don't want to wear a mask or follow the rules, it just makes everything take longer. There is a reason the US is in the postion it is in. Our "leadership" wanted to make acting in a safe fashion a political issue. The players haven't been following the guidelines. Sounds very familiar. And now trouble follows.

I don't know where you are going with this, but I would say there probably shouldn't be sports in the middle of a pandemic if you can't keep all of the people involved safe.
-
Yes, but in the event they are not, playing baseball isn't worth dying over. Not all the players are asympotmatic.
-
C'mon man. Eloy was dizzy because he was playing LF. I have never seen a player I am more scared will get hurt by a wall. Rowand used to ram into them, but at least he knew it was there. Eloy seems to never realize he is near a wall.
-
So for the Marlins it's 11 players and 2 coaches.

If you go off on your own at contract the virus in a non team activity, like a bar, in the NFL you will face discipline, including not getting paid.

I really don't know what Manfred can do. The owners gave him a drop dead season ending date of Sept. 27th. If this turns out to be the downfall of him, it certainly isn't consistent. They probably should have emphasized the no high fives etc. stuff they had in the program, but at some point, you have to treat them as adults which would include giving them some responsibility. There may be a very innocent reason for the breakout, it might be just stupidity. We will never know. But they need to eliminate any stupidity.

I don't think everyone is 6 feet apart and some tables are still allowed to have 6 people, not to mention they are set up on the sidewalk with people walking a couple of feet away. Except for about half the tables indoors were not in use, it was almost like a normal Sunday. If you walked down Wells in Old Town yesterday, you would have had no idea a pandemic was killing restaurants.
-
Yes, but if they haven't been served yet, they can put on a mask. It apparently isn't required to enter the restaurant either.

I know it isn't posted yet, but just to get it out of the way.... WTF Ricky? Worst line up ever. -
I am sure they are no different from most people in their age bracket. I walked by a restaurant yesterday. Brunch is a huge deal in Chicago. You can serve the crappiest brunch in the world and you will get a crowd. Yesterday, all the tables outside were full, and half of them inside. No one at a table is wearing a mask. People act like it has just gone away, or there is no way they will get it or give it to someone.
-
Not really. Bars and churches seem to be where a lot of this is coming from. It is mindboggling to me why anyone would go into a store that doesn't require them.

National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien has Covid 19.

Gio Gonzalez is horrible

He needs a Matt Thornton fix. Thornton like Fulmer, couldn’t throw a strike to save his life. Coop had him try something in his first bullpen session with the team and he became elite. Fulmer’s stuff has tons of movement. He has great spin rates. He just can’t get it close enough to entice swings. Then he has to groove it. If he fixes it, he will have a nice career. Odds are against it, but hopefully he can get it straitened out.

Every team was given the same crowd noise. How they use it or do not use it is up to them. It is the same crowd noice they use in their video game.
