  1. ESPN.com has an article on him, trying to figure out where he wants to go. It has if he wants this he will choose that, if he wants that he will choose this scenerios . They mentioned just about every team except the White Sox. Of course it is 50/50 at best whether ESPN knows the White Sox exist.
  2. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 07:12 PM) Makes leaving Peter and Guerrero off roster even more of a head scratcher They are going to be adding some people.
  3. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 03:10 PM) They also have a few former Japanese players in the front office as well. He's supposed to be a good kid. Doesn't do anything but play baseball. But I do wonder if the whole "winning because of me" thing is something that teams really want to hear. For what he costs now, it's a no brainer, but if he were able to get 9 figures, if that is true, it would make me pause a bit. Right now, for the sheer bargain money maker he will be, if any team isn't interested, they need a new front office.
  4. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 02:57 PM) https://twitter.com/thestevenwoods/status/936609044248137728 @thestevenwoods I’ve heard from someone in the know that Otani doesn’t want to join a big market team that’s ready to win now. He wants to be THE guy that brings a team to glory and doesn’t mind a rebuild. Know any teams like that? https://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20171201...9-nksports-base This article in Japanese indicates that Otani has narrowed his list to 5 teams: the Dodgers, Yankees, Padres and two unnamed teams. Not sure if either of these things mean anything, but just putting it out there. The more I hear about bringing the team to glory, the more I think SD is where he goes. I think his agent is based there. West Coast. Rebuilding team with some talent, and hard to beat the weather. Although if that is BS, the Yankees have to have the upper hand, and he did almost sign with the Dodgers out of HS>
  5. QUOTE (G&T @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 02:18 PM) The fact that he had to plea guilty to anything means there were very bad charges. The level of cooperation is also telling. If the potential crimes were small, he wouldn't be facing jail time in exchange for cooperation. It's now being reported he went to Jared. Bring them down. Jared was going to fix everything. Why does he have a security clearance again?
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 01:49 PM) No, that's how these sort of deals work. They're charging him with something fairly minimal, but the plea agreement specifically says "this isn't all that we know." Flynn is well aware and I'm sure discussions included numerous other charges they were ready to bring if he didn't cooperate. I suspect they are using his son as a pawn here.
  7. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 10:56 AM) Trump's former national security adviser is being referred to as a "former Obama administration official" by Trump's team, and the WH bizarrely seems to think this is the one possible charge against Flynn and doesn't reach anyone within the White House. Okay. Obama warned Trump about Flynn. That makes it even more hilarious. But his base believes everything out of his mouth.
  8. Flynn was nothing more than a low level coffee boy. BTW, I think early next week, the cost of this investigation is going to come out. It will be interesting to see how many of the GOP will have the nerve to say we can't afford it. But like Ted Cruz with Franken/Moore, you know they will be crying about it.
  9. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 10:29 AM) But we already kinda see that with state and local sales taxes, it ends up regressive with the lower end of the income scale paying a lot more of their income on a percentage basis than those higher up the scale. The wealthy spend more in total dollar figures but much less as a percentage of their income. It would be a massive windfall for them to switch to more of a "flat" tax system like that without having a whole lot of other taxes like EU countries do. Yes. If you make a lot of money, it's really, really good for you. If not, not so good.
  10. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 10:15 AM) Yes. Hell, yes. LOCK THEM UP. Trump's hush money payments to Flynn must have met a snag.
  11. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 09:53 AM) The EU uses a large value added tax to purchases. This makes sense to me. Tax people on how much yhey use. They wouldn't need the massive tax code. My brother lives in Switzerland, and that is pretty much how it works there. Very little income tax, but everything you buy is ridiculously expensive.
  12. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 09:31 AM) January 24 - Flynn lies to the FBI. January 26 - Yates warns the WH about Flynn. January 27 - Papadopolous lies to the FBI. Trump responds not by firing Flynn, but asking Comey for a loyalty pledge. January 30 - Yates fired. Fake news. Sources close to Trump say this charge against Flynn is no big deal. Everyone lies in DC.
  13. When asked whether Trump ever asked him to hinder the Russian investigation yesterday before the intel committee, Sessions refused to answer.
  14. Those over 100 people Mnunchin said were working around the clock for months crunching the numbers for the tax bill.....as Maury would say, that was a lie.
  15. Jamal Mayers on CSN, "To me, the Winnipeg Jets are one of the most surprising teams, but not so much to me." They pay this guy and not competent beat guys?
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 06:23 PM) Because the budget reconciliation rules say they can increase the deficit over 10 years by $1.5 trillion, because they passed budgetary rules this year saying they could increase the deficit by an arbitrary $1.5 trillion over 10 years with tax cuts. If the scores that come back are over $1.5 trillion, they have to shrink the size somewhere. But these are going to more than pay for themselves. It is just more proof how full of s*** they all are.
  17. Can someone explain to me why, if the GOP thinks dropping the corporate rate to 20% is just going to be great for everyone, why are they delaying that drop for a year?
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 03:28 PM) I will admit i was completely unaware of how painfully conservative he was I do think Trubisky and now they say the receivers were at least partially to blame for his inaccuracy, have shown being conservative with him might have been wise. But run, run, pass, does get old, and probably still could have been very conservative but still mixed it up a bit which may have helped.
  19. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 02:29 PM) I hope it's Mcdaniels. He's either going to awesome or horrible. I just remember how happy so many were when the Bears brought in Fox. Now I watch TV and look on the internet, and the Bears were hoodwinked hiring him. Where were these people 3 years ago? The fact is, Bellicheck could coach this current roster and they aren't winning more than they are losing. I think either Pace needs to go, or needs some help.
  20. These guys are Andy Wilkins-esque. There's a better chance Ohtani is the starting DH on opening day for the White Sox than these minor leaguers making an impact.
  21. Maybe Seth Beer is the future at 1B for the White Sox. I know he has seemed to struggle with wooden bats, and you aren't supposed to take a probable 1b/DH type that high, but if he hits like a lot of people thought a year ago, he's a no brainer. One thing I would be doing with Jose right now is making sure he knows if he is traded, it is only because short term, winning isn't an option, and that in a couple of years, when he has an opportunity to decide where he wants to play again, the White Sox are home to him. I would make sure he was updated on any possible movement. Every little thing to know he is a valued player and person, but the timing presently isn't correct, and you are doing him a favor sending him to a place where he can win, acquiring pieces he can play with when he returns.
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 01:14 PM) So let's play a game. The Bears next head coach will be: David Shaw (is my pick). I will go with Pete Carmichael Jr.
  23. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 11:29 AM) This is why: The entire bill caters to the rich. That's the whole point of it. Of course it does, and for you Bears fans, the repeal means the McCaskeys will own the Bears until you die.
  24. Again, why can't the White Sox trade them now, and sign them later if there is a need and they are worth the money? It's pretty much a free look at how they will age, and you get some assets for assets you don't need while you aren't going to contend. You obviously will have competition, and their new teams will have some sort of say, but they save their current salaries for a couple of seasons, so if they are worth it later, they can pay them more then.
  25. Mnuchin said the repeal of the Estate tax will mostly help rich people t. Like this was even a question? Overall, it's really not that much of the tax pool anyway, and I personally will benefit greatly from its repeal, but why? Isn't that at least a small token you could throw out there as "we aren't catering to the rich"?
