  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 19, 2014 -> 01:35 PM) Mao Asada was one of the two co-favorites for the figure skating gold...went down on her first jump and ended up 16th after the short program. Sad. Great champion. Not really sad, there was story about her, if she was from South Korea, and it detailed how she didn't really compete much and this was all for fun after winning in Vancouver. She only appeared in a couple of events over the last couple of years and while she was a favorite a top performance would be tough. Again if this was the same female skater and if she was from South Korea.
  2. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 19, 2014 -> 10:52 AM) I would have never thought women hockey players would be hot: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-25...een-before.html I really should have headed over to Eastern Europe to get me a wife.
  3. Anyone see the shot GBR men hit to advance out of the tie-breaker in men's curling yesterday it was a spectacular moment.
  4. The ability to out spend every other team and most teams over twice as much is what makes the Yankees what they, are not Derek Jeter. He is a grossly overpaid but is a good consistent player and a hall of famer. He is nowhere near the top ten all time, what in his stat line screams this? This are his baseball reference comparables; Craig Biggio (823) Paul Molitor (805) * Roberto Alomar (789) * Robin Yount (786) * Charlie Gehringer (756) * Johnny Damon (729) Ivan Rodriguez (723) Joe Morgan (723) * Ted Simmons (718) Frankie Frisch (716) * These are Frank Thomas Jeff Bagwell (874) Manny Ramirez (865) Fred McGriff (861) Jim Thome (854) Mickey Mantle (840) * Gary Sheffield (832) Albert Pujols (822) Carlos Delgado (812) Willie McCovey (812) * Jimmie Foxx (810) *
  5. Stepped in six inches of slush.....I do not care 41 degrees has never felt so good.
  6. I was talking to a friend who knows nothing (I know a little more than nothing) about soccer and we both agreed that that the Saturday morning premier league soccer is awesome. Neither of us really know why but it was great move by NBC to pick it up....well he bets on it pretty heavily.
  7. Alaska State troppers had an episode where a trooper had to go to some reservation where there was a youth basketball game that needed a police presence. Also along these lines. Youth baseball game last year. Kid swings at pitch and pitch hits his wrist, umpire calls a strike. Kid is laying on the ground and instead of dealing with the kid everyone (parents/coaches) are arguing with the umpire. It was a travel game at their place and their umpire. It was the right call. We play them later in the season the kid did break his wrist. 90% of parents are morons.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 17, 2014 -> 08:00 AM) If baseball & softball were removed from the Olympics for issues with lack of competition, women's ice hockey can't be far behind. At last count, the US was outshooting Sweden 46-3 with a 5-0 lead. And that's in a semifinal. I think I saw this correctly. 19 women's finals in world cup or Olympics 18 were Us Canada.
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 17, 2014 -> 07:36 AM) Jesus, how does Harry Teinowitz continue to get paid to talk? That entire lineup is bad except for the afternoon drive. Steve Dahl should have gotten a shoot.
  10. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 15, 2014 -> 06:37 PM) Sam was the best defensive player in the SEC and projected as a 3rd round pick. How is that marginal? I'd love him on the Bears with our defensive woes and his motor. The bears have this same player but they took him in the first round.
  11. What I find odd is unless there is a obvious displays of affection here really is no issue here other than to beat your chest and wave your flag to spout out about your beliefs. I find public displays of affection uncomfortable in any situation anyway.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 05:27 PM) US Speed skaters blaming Under Armor suits for their slow times. Early on they were saying how awesome they are.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 03:39 PM) Yeah, there were 2-3 seasons that were too much for LOST. If they had killed that, it could have been epic. If that was Penny's boat it would have ended with mystery and intrigue and the purgatory thing would make sense where some folks get off of the island and some do not. Resuscitation, death, heaven hell.....fade to black
  14. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 03:48 PM) Because the NHL shares most of its arenas with NBA teams and the NBA teams don't want the seats any further from the court than they already are. NBA is not the reason it is the lost revenue of the ten rows of seats surrounding the ice that is the issue. The NBA rolls out folding chairs and portable seats now. The NHL losses its highest ticket priced seats and a lot of them.
  15. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 03:46 PM) Boheim says that he would tell Melo to leave. Really, of places Melo would consider it's LA or Chicago. Bulls have a much brighter future than LA, especially if they end up having a trade. LA is going to have a ton of money when the decision II will be made.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 02:44 PM) I loved the first few seasons more than anything except Breaking Bad. The ending wasn't the greatest. At its peek Lost was more intoxicating than Breaking Bad. The opening scene for season one through season three /part of four were incredible then it tapered. It could never achieve an ending. As as series in totality Breaking Bad is a better series. Lost 121 episodes Breaking Bad 62 episodes If Lost had a show arc of 75 episodes it could have been epic.
  17. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 10:35 AM) Isn't the idea of combining Melo and Rose just asking for problems? Both guys need the ball to be effective. Is Melo going to be alright being a second fiddle? Is Rose going to be OK with Melo taking final shots? You know both of those things will happen. It may work it may not but nothing will work with the current cast of almost a really good basketball team.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 12, 2014 -> 04:42 PM) Both of these are on my bucket list. Spring Training is pretty awesome. I went in 2001 and 2007. I want to get there while my kids are young but the time keeps catching up to me.
  19. I think people (i.e. me) get her confused with Jody Garland I too thought she was dead for years.
  20. QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 11, 2014 -> 01:06 PM) No. But I have players who have never been on a golf course in their lives. I need some time to have them ready. Oh what's the worst that could happen, they will suck at golf. So do 90% of the other people that try and play. It is not like they will lose 100-5 in basketball or something like that. The children will be outdoors enjoying whatever weather they have. If the parents complain tell the mthey should have taken their child out golfing previously, not your fault. In front of my house I was able to clear five parking spots this past weekend. Took about eight hours but I am down to dry concrete after six weeks of ice and snow. The other remaining parking spot has a shelf about 6 inches high and three feet wide and two feet wide that is solid ice. I work in Lincoln Park and there are ice shelves that are about a foot off of the ground, it is crazy. Parking is a daily treat cars still getting stuck.
  21. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Feb 10, 2014 -> 09:53 AM) Strong return for The Walking Dead. It was good to finally see Michonne's backstory. Great episode of Shameless. The entire direction of the season changed in about 15 minutes. It will be interesting to see how Lip's roll will change. I said, oh s*** Lost type flashbacks and then my wife reminded me we know nothing about her. It was quick and to the point. Looks like TWD also realized that dragging everything out for weeks becomes frustrating. Good to see that one wrapped at the end. I also wonder if there is a meeting place that they will all end up at in at the end of the season.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 10, 2014 -> 09:16 AM) Also, Vandy's OT that he was going against is going to the NFL and was their best offensive lineman. The reason Sam is falling is because at the Senior Bowl he did not play well as a LB when that is what teams really wanted to see. But when he put his hand down and went straight ahead he was electric still. For those who want him to succeed, like me, I think best place would be Seattle, where late round picks suddenly, ahem, get way bigger and faster than everyone else. Sounds like a Bears first round draft pick to me.
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 7, 2014 -> 09:13 PM) The history of Russia presentation pretty much skipped the entire 20th century. Same as US leaving out slavery and Indian wars
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 6, 2014 -> 07:59 PM) They did so because they had another business giving them their produt for free. I could appreciate it as unique 20 years ago when people would be able to legitimately have a BBQ on the roof during a game. Renovations and 100 person plus bleachers? Come on, that's silly. When the contract went into place the renovations to become what those buildings are now, took place. They transformed those buildings based on a contract. A contract which right now is costing those owners a good chunk of money as the ticket value for those events has decreased. I would expect this leads to some rooftop owner angst.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 7, 2014 -> 12:26 PM) I have never had the urge to even try it. The chicks aren't bad looking, that was all I took from it when I watched it.
