how would YOU fix the sox attendance woes?
Harry Chappas replied to ewokpelts's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The prices changes are not for seats that were sold anyway so this really will have little affect on the bottom line. The good seats are still expensive. If the Whte Sox thought that this would negatively impact the bottom line, they would not be doing it. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 15, 2012 -> 09:12 AM) Anyways regardless of title, it is a great toy. I can use it anywhere I can log on to google (PC, laptop, app) without needing to download the songs on to each unit I want to listen to music on. No synching or any of that other crap either. One download of a song makes it available across all platforms. I am struggling with this as I bought a book on a tablet but then thought I could call it up on phone but could not. Very cool none the less.

In typical KW fashion, will his big offseason move be A-Rod?
Harry Chappas replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If it fits in the White Sox budget you do it without a doubt. -
Who are you rooting for in 2012 MLB Playoffs?
Harry Chappas replied to justBLAZE's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 10:08 AM) This remaining field holds so much hate for me. I can't root for the Yankees and Tigers, well, ever. f*** Washington for the whole Adam Dunn/Edwin Jackson BS, plus being stupid enough to knuckle under to an agent and shutdown your ace for no real good reason. I can't root for Baltimore because I don't want to see Peter Angelos rewarded for what he did to the Orioles franchise. He took them from the top of baseball and almost destroyed them. That leaves the Cards and Giants. The Giants do nothing for me. That leaves the Machiavellian in me to root for St Louis. Is it hockey season yet? f***. You are so right. There is something I like about Showalter though. I would love O's v Cards or these remaining teams. Oddly, I like Leyland and Sleepy Gene Lemont but that team......ugh. Really sad that LaRussa and Leyland could have been staples in Chicago for some time. -

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 01:36 AM) Well 2 of the teams I was rooting for are out in A's/Reds. If the Nats/Orioles get knocked out I officially do not care about the rest of the playoffs. I agree and going into the playoffs I thought the Sox did not deserve to be there but the A's and O's are not better than the White Sox. I am not certain the Yankees are either. The affect PED's had on baseball is incredible. -
I'd take any player at any time to make any team I root for better. I love Brandon Marshall, Zeke and Albert Belle because they made the team I root for better. I could care less what type of people they are. I am not having a dinner party I am watching sports for my team to win. Winning is everything as far as my sports entertainment goes. I want good guys to play 16" softball with and could care less if they are good players, why, because they come to my dinner parties and we get nothing for winning and I want to enjoy my cocktails with good guys not some asshat. Only cubs fans love their team to be lovable losers.

The f'ed up thing about this whole thing is they could have shut him down in the summer or had him stay in spring training. It really was handled poorly. I do think thought that they are set up for a nice run in the future.

I think I follow baseball but maybe not. Why is Zito starting and Lincecum in the bullpen?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 02:15 PM) With having four lefties potentially able to be in the rotation next year (Danks, Sale, Santiago, and Quintana) could Kenny look to sell high on Jose Quintana? We all saw what happened with Phil Humber this year, and guys like Gavin Floyd who never took that next big step. If the Sox could bring back Peavy that would set the Sox up with six men in the rotation (without even talking about someone like Axelrod). If you trade Quintana, it resets the rotation with only three lefties and two righties. Outside of Sale, Quintana might well have the highest trade value of any pitcher on this team because of his age and his contract status. Thinking out loud here, but could a team out there be interested in selling on a young/cheap 3B in a package for Quintana? If so, should Kenny be interested? I don't think Quintana has the "stuff" and pedigree to get the return that would make the risk worth trading.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 12:56 PM) The Cards are usually buying cheap on pitching. After this year, I don't think Peavy fits that description. Will depend on the money peavy wants and where he wants to play.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 11:31 AM) You are welcome Jake. I could see him winning the Cy Young in St Louis next year.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 11:35 AM) Everything involving Gemma has been ridiculously stupid, but Jimmy Smits is awesome. Which is what made the Jax line so good in the last show. My wife is catching up on season 4 it really is bad but this season has started off pretty good.

QUOTE (Cali @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 09:55 PM) Ahh. Gotcha. I think Oakland is gonna steamroll the Tigers. They are on fire rigt now. Oakland was hot the last time they played the Tigers and the Tigers handled them, remember when the Sox could not beat the Royals. I think the Tigers win in 4. Billy Beane knows something that nobody else knows I will finally admit that man is amazing.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 10:46 AM) If you're going to take Dan Johnson's performance at the end as the barometer for how he would have performed most of the season, why don't we check out Viciedo's series vs. Cleveland. He's probably in line for the MVP next year. The thing I liked about him is he actually had some plate discipline and made a pitcher work. He may suck but he can work a count something that Dewayne wise, Viciedo and Ramirez are incapable of. This team has too many guys like that.

Johnson is a bat they were missing all season off of the bench.

QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 10:25 AM) Hawk should be given a nice severance package, and they should get a new PBP guy in there....and not a former player. Isn't it possible that Hawk is part of the problem with attendance? He turns so many people off that they have a hard time attracting new fans. And he also is so down when the team loses, it makes the fans they have so negative, they don't want to watch them in person. I know the attendance issue is very complex, and it's not the main reason why the Sox don't draw. But I don't think Hawk helps the situation...I think he hurts the team in a lot of ways. I think Hawk attracts fans while not a great announcer the casual fans like him.

Would love to see the Yankees eliminated in wildcard game. Bailey would have made it great day. Imagine the AL with only one wild card team.

SAMCRO is making me miss Breaking Bad a little less while Boardwalk Empire is building on the DVR. Jax Teller's slap down of Gemma was f***ing priceless. Can't beat the Elks lodge being converted to a whorehouse. The cat fight while entertaining was out of left field.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 06:43 PM) You're one person...moving to Wrigleyville means losing you and a few others, and adding thousands of random people. The neighborhood is a piece of the puzzle but it is the attraction to the casual fan and out of town folks that draw. Why people love the cubs....who knows just shows how stupid people are as the cubs are not even front runners. You get a good tourist base while the Sox probably have none. You get the casual fans that plan a trip to Wrigley in the summer the Sox do not. As a Sox fan there was still the "scene" up there that drew me in for a game or two until I grew up a little.

If the rationale for losing this year is pitching youth and injuries the same team is essentially brought back except Peavy as you have to assume Danks and Floyd are back with Sale. You need to get a bargain on Youk and Peavy for them to come back. There is no way Liriano comes back. If Youk comes back you rotate Dunn, Konerko and Youk. They need bench help and pitcher. This will be another quite off season for the White Sox which may or may not be good.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 02:42 PM) Look who we faced and put up those runs against, a guy with a 5 something ERA that we saw for the 2nd time and a couple garbage relievers. Before that we faced TB who has a team ERA less than 3 in the 2nd half. Kluber who we saw for the first time( I believe), and Masterson, their best pitcher. Before that we faced E. Santana, D Haren, and Cy Weaver all of which have been good in the 2nd half. Then Chen and Guthrie who forever reason own us. We faced some good pitching down the stretch and with a team dealing with injuries like the sox were it not a recipe for success. Kansas City shut the White Sox down almost every game they played and the Kansas City rotation sucked.

If Dunn is injured why is he still playing? -
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 09:25 AM) Overall, the Sox took half-measures to address their glaring weaknesses and it cost them postseason baseball. Time to rebuild. No it is not.
