Fine, I’ll do it (Game Thread 4/10)
Harry Chappas replied to Milkman delivers's topic in 2025 Season in Review
Expecting position players to come up and succeed is a fools errand at this point but I really hope to be wrong -
There really is zero purpose for having him on the top. He looks like a complete douche.
-
No but they evaluated Dominic Fletcher and determined he was a viable option.
-
In about the same games that makes it very special.

Fletcher trade showed Getz hiring of guy from AZ was a mistake Cease trade showed that Getz could not evaluate talent and is over his head WTF was the Janikowski experience this past week Getz will show Jerry all the great things that have happened in the minors and JR will eat it up Vaughan, Nicky 2 strikes and Jacob Gonzalez.....that is all you need to know. There is no skillset to any of those three guys that shows MLB talent.
-
I was a whatever on him from day 1 but what's his purpose now if he's not a multi inning mop up guy
-
Wouldn't insurance cover that? I assumed it would eventually be repaired.

What did he buy it for and what did he sell it for? Sports franchises are not money making ventures they are investments. -
Earned runs but the point still shows how different the game has become. Has any of the four gotten through 6? I was there Thursday and can't recall.

North, McNeil and Bernstein drew listeners at their peak and were great on the air. All self destructed in different manners. Bernstein was done in by his narcissism. I thought his ratings were really good. I did not like that I liked to listen to him at times as while he is an egomaniac it did not feel like you were listening to dead air. I'm in the camp that it was probably a money issue with Audacy and they found a way out.

The 4 classes waters things down greatly. Brother Rice was a nice team but not something that I thought would be a state champ. The IHSA has kind of killed the feel of being special but I guess it is high school sports and that isn't necessarily the goal. -
Poles drafted a punter in two of the last three drafts. His drafting resume outside of Caleb needs to improve.

Yes not sure what year you got out of Rice but players at that time knew the team was a joke and elected to not play. Nowadays sports are more important to schools and there is a level of importance put into them that there was not in years past. -
Not for the team that invested the draft capital in him. RB seems to be a crapshoot and their success is predicated on the scheme and line as much as pure talent.
-
Hoping this is a lot of smoke to warrant a trade down or have someone trade up. I appreciate the RB position but the volatility is crazy and an RB at #10 seems crazy. Trade down to 15-17 grab a pick and I can live with that. Does the RB second contract with the team ever pay off?

The intramural champs would have beaten the varsity team when I was there. I am not joking in the least bit and the game wouldn't have been close. -

I am going to Opening Day for the 36th straight year based solely on this possibility. -
How's that Organizational Pitching Philosophy Coming Along?

Sounds like where Crochet was a year ago. I still don't think Crochet hits 100 innings in a season again. -

If Reinsdorf needs White Sox cash flow similar to the McCaskey's with the Bears a 2027 prolonged lockout hurts them and may what be what JR is lining up in hedging his bet and handing off the risk of lost revenue/equity in exchange for control. Locally looking at the cubs and 2027 lost revenue that seems to be in their sites. It's not the cubs operations that takes the ht it is the Lakeview investments from lost games. A second time in 7 years of biblical losses.
