White Sox vs. Astros, 6/9/07 (L)
Watching hitters work the count and make the pitcher throw strikes is truly killing me as I watch the stupidity of White Sox hitters fail to realize this aspect of the game and a question I would like to ask. The strike sucks today and the White Sox refuse to use this to their advantage. Garland running out of gas.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 03:15 PM) Another magical turn by our pathetic double play tandem. I don't want to see either of those guys back next year. What happened I went to let the dog out?

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 03:10 PM) We're getting shut down by someone with an 85 mph fastball. If this follows the typical Sox game, we'll go down by about 3 or 4 soon as the opposition will get 3 hits in about a span of a minute. You are 100% correct.

QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 03:10 PM) no im not, its just this team continues to break my heart, game in, game out. even though paulie had a nice rip there, the first pitch was good for a 400 foot bomb. since he hit the grand slam in game 2 of the WS, he hasnt learned his lesson that the first pitch is the best pitch u will probably see in the whole at bat Sorry but I have to disagree with you. The pitcher will let you know what the best pitch to hit is. The worse the pitcher the earlier in the count to swing. The inability of this team to work a count and recognize the strike zone is its downfall. Swinging on the first pitch in my opion is the worst thing a hitter can do.

AJ made him work. How f***ing hard is it to take a pitch when you are hitting .250???????

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 02:54 PM) He said they should bring him back....not exactly a deep thought. What JR and KW need to do at the end of this month is go to him with their final offer. If he laughs it off, then you trade him. I think they need to do this for PR and fringe season ticket holders like myself that are wondering if this franchise is worth investing in.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 02:43 PM) I hate to break it to you, but both Buehrle and Garland will likely not be with the White Sox come 2009. Hence my fear that we had our shot at being a legitmate franchise and will not turn out to be. Teams are not going to give up big prospects unless they sign him long-term and that is my fear. I see a couple of Jon Adkins returns. Williams has a tendency to make some really bad trades or not get enough in return for his players. Where does the $20M go if the three free agents leave? Crede also could be signed for a cut althoguh I doubt it. Great inning there I see another shutout.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 02:34 PM) The good news is that Buster Olney said today that Buehrle might go on the market soon, and he'll be the best player available. I am sorry but this is a guy you try and keep. I do not want AAA players. He makes every start and that is very rare. You build a team around him and Garland if you are a serious franchise.

This ump is not calling a strike at the belt. Then Mackowiak swings at two pitches there he should have been 3-1. Do these guys not watch what is happening out there? This is what Walker needs to preach. The only problem with Iguchi was he was loafing and therefore should have stayed. I bet we do not hit more than three balls to the outfield.

White Sox vs. Astros, 6/8/07 (L)
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 08:09 PM) This team deserves everything that's happening with these horrible personnel decisions. 8 minor leaguers on a 100 million dollar payroll team is pathetic. Masset bringing it with that 92 mph heater. The problem is that the guys they bring up are clones of the clowns they current call veterans. Owens gets a 2-0 pitch and hits a six hopper to short. These guys have no concept ofthe strike and howe to be a smart hitter, this has to be a philosophy in the minors and looks really bad whe na player is struggling. Uribe is trying ot pop out to every corner infielder.

What happened to Owens? I thought Terraro dropped the ball......... If it was Gonzalez, I gotta admit, I kind of like Terraro. His OBP is incredible, for this team.

Where KW is going with this team
This team is becoming unbearable as they are not playing hard or trying to do anything positive to the naked eye. As a season ticket holder that is not really fond of his seats and losses a decent amount of money on unused tickets, I will not be renewing. This team is quickly looking like the predicted 74 win team. Our schedule gets really hard very soon and we are looking to be really bad.

I really want to like terraro and then he does something to fit in with the rest of these assclowns.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 06:44 PM) The way the lineup has handled Sampson thus far, even with their offensive troubles, if less than five runs are across the board I'll be shocked. Nearly every out has been crushed. They let him off the hook to settle in and realize this offense sucks. They may get three possibly four as they are not facing the Yanks or Blue Jays bullpen.

Our Top Prospects
QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 01:42 PM) You also have to remember that last year he was young for AA. The main thing I worry about with Gio is his ability to stay healthy. I believe that Gio is at AA to inflate his stats and make him tradeable. As this season goes down the drain the guy that they need to sign is Buerhle, if not, a crappy season and the lose of Buerhle negates all of the success they have had. You see it already with the fact there have been no sell-outs this year and poor crowds for the Yankee series.

Our Top Prospects
Fields and Owens are not ready for the majors at his time. The Fields at-bat in the 7th showed that he fits the mold of all White Sox hitters. Instead of hitting for contact he was trying to swing as hard as he could when he struck out. The bigger problem was letting him swing away on the first strike then changing it up to bunt on the second. These guys may be average players in the future but right now they along with the disgrace that is Alex Cintron are leaving this team with no opportunity to succeed. There are three guys in the line-up that are over matched. Cintron's defense is abysmal. I would almost rather see the cat hat hasn't played since he was called up and listed on two rosters earlier in the week.

Thome has to play first over Konerko, should he do well he can be trade bait to the NL. Think the Dodgers or Giants could use him.
