  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:26 PM) What's the scouting report? Easily signable I guess. From MLB summary; Average until this year. Came out of nowhere, not very poised as he hasn't been very good. A ONE PITCH PITCHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 95-96 MPH with sink. So the yYanks get a stud young pitcher and the Sox get more AAA fodder.
  2. I bet they take jackson.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 05:08 PM) You mean you don't like to see the battle between Owens and Sweeney to see which player can hit the softest grounders? If Owens could get his softly hit grounders to the left side of the infield and past the pithcer, there would not be a problem. I don't know why but I think tonight will be a different game in a good way........ Call me stupid.
  4. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 04:15 PM) Will Jermaine Dye please show up already? and bring Konerko, Uribe and AJ with him.
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 03:07 PM) 1.) Why would they trade Michael Young just a few months after giving him a huge extension? 2.) Are you sure you want to deal for a 2B (yes he's a 2B) who's due $5M next year and then $16M per year for the next 5 seasons after that? He's also lighting the world on fire with his .269/.318/.408/.726 line. No thanks. 3.) Considering how things went the first time around I highly doubt Lofton will ever play for the Sox again. 2 answers 1. I didn't think he was making $16M though. As far as Loften goes he is a stopgap for a team that is 3 games out of the WC and possible spark. I didn't think he ended with bad blood last time.
  6. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 02:53 PM) lets say we trade crede, keep fields up, release cintron, and pods comes back healthy. what would the lineup be? pods LF iguchi 2B thome DH dye RF pierzynski C konerko 1B fields 3B (whoever we get in the crede trade) CF? uribe SS what do u think of that lineup, and who might we get for crede? You assume Erstad is more hurt than reported? What kind of package would have to be put together to get Michael Young and Kenny Lofton?
  7. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 09:12 AM) I think we're now at 12-13 leads blown from the 6th inning on. As Hawk said, we had the lead at one point in most of the games on that roadtrip, with the exception of the Halladay start. The only reason we have had the lead is because the starting pitching has been lights out. I do not count a lead of 3 to 1 or 4 to 2 all that great. In the American League a GOOD team should average over 5 runs a game. The White Sox have scored more than 5 runs twice in the last 13 games. The bullpen is being asked to do something that is not realistic for them. Look at the salaries of the guys failing on this team. If you want to get by with the league minimum in your pen that is fine but the players being paid to hit should hit. The money that is spent on this team is on starting pitching and home run hitters. One is doing their job most of the time the othere is failing miserably. The bullpen is magnified because every game is close and if they give up a run the offense is unable to get it back.
  8. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 12:00 PM) So Joe Crede is a liar?!? Do you have any proof on this?!? So your theory is a professional ballplayer will risk have surgery on his back for no reason just to cover up a bad two months?!? Do you think before you post or just type whatever pops in your mind?? When Glaus gets hurt he doesn't play. He's already been on the DL once this year. He missed almost the enitre 2003 and 2004 seasons. Crede's mistake has been playing thorugh the injury and not taking care of it early. My reasoning is, should two months of this season be written off to him having a bad back. If Crede has been hurt why not come out with it and go on the DL instead of looking lost at the plate? Who gained by him doing nothing for two months? He has done nothing but hurt the club since day 1 of this season if he has been hurt. If he could have sat out the two months and come back healthy whenever it would be better than what we have going right now. The problem I have with the whole scenario probably goes to this agent whose best interest could be looked at a couple of different ways. From a buisness stand point, is Joe Crede the 2006 version, the 2007 version, the 2004 version and what is the long term stand point of the organization in him. I will defer to the health professionals to determine whether back surgery was necessary or not, that is not for me speak of. What is Joe Crede to this team right now. If he has been hurt since April that is inexcusable as he has been hurting this organizationas a whole and continues to do so.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 09:40 AM) From the Tribune, "Ozzie told me don't come back until you're ready to steal a base," Podsednik said. "I'm most valuable when I'm on base. Without my ability to steal a base, I'm pretty much useless." At least he's realistic. The problem is, he is light years ahead of Jerry Owens. Owens looks as lost as Sweeney did when he was up. There are so many other issue swith this team that the fact Owens is leading off is the least of them.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 10:49 AM) This article sure makes it sound like Crede's back has been bothering him for longer than even the team has known about it, which strongly suggests that it's been bothering him for the entire season so far. To me, it sure sounds like his suckiness with the bat is therefore directly related to his back, once again, and just as some of us predicted it would be when he decided against the surgery. Anderson was their DH last night. The Halos seem to be moving around the DH spot between their OF's, Willits, Vlad, Anderson, etc. to keep them all in the lineup and give them a little more rest. Funny thing about saying this is that it gives a real nice excuse for a bad start. What if the start was the start and the back was fine? Easy way to explain s***ty numbers come arbitration time next year as oppossed to the fact hat Joe isn't nearly the player he and Boras thought he was.
  11. The White Sox are still interesting this season why????????? Starting pitchers. What is the $15M they are giving Thome worth? How about the $12M to Konerko? Alex Cintron and Rob Mackowiak are making twice as much as the entire bullpen? Buerhle and Garland are the cornerstones to this franchise and should be treated as such. I don't want journeyman pitchers and washed up relievers while Ichiro is making $13M. I may be the only person that believes this but I feel the hitting was what let the WHite Sox down last year especially in September. A consistent pitcher is worth their weight as hitting is never really consistent due to the failure rate of 60% for the best hitters. If they lose Buerhle and have to rely on Gio or Floyd, it will be a long 2008. Look at the Twins they do have two hitters better then anyone the Sox have but the rest of their line-up is simply solid guys that give good at bats. These are the guys the Sox need to go along with good starting pitchers, not slow, low OBP guys that may homer but more often than homering will strike out or pop out on the infield. KW is trying to model his team after the Braves organization. That is great but the last time I looked Maddux, Smoltz, and Glavine were all given huge deals to stick around, and now Hudson was as well.
  12. The Sox had one hit in the final 4.2 innings and 14 of the last 15 were retired.
  13. Jenks is 98 to 100. This blows , we are going to lose this game.
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 08:14 PM) No matter what happens here I'd just like to say that IMO Ozzie made every correct move when it came to the pitching staff tonight. Exactly you can not have a one person bullpen and win.
  15. Hey asshole it is 6 to 1. zThrow the f***ing ball underhand if you have to. Bring in Jenks NOW!
  16. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 08:02 PM) Brewers one base runner away from .500 through 5 innigns (B6 1 out) with 2 runs. 10 for 21 with 2 sac's.. At .500 through 6.1, I am not sure why this is enteraining me but I have the Sox on tv and the Brewers on MLB, I am just enthralled in it all. Sorry if this is inappropriate.
  17. Brewers one base runner away from .500 through 5 innigns (B6 1 out) with 2 runs. 10 for 21 with 2 sac's..
  18. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 07:58 PM) I love Bruce Campbell! AHOY!! The guy that sang Rhinestone Cowboy?
  19. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 07:55 PM) Garlands first inning run was unearned because of Iguchi's error, right? Yep and cost him the chance for a complete game as he has 114 pitches due to facing the extra hitters in the first.
  20. In 5 innings, the Brewers have a .400 OBP and have 2 runs, left 8 men on and grounded into 2 DP's f***ing walk, ugh. Nice game Garland, three fly out to OF'ers
  21. I kind of like the Terrero PH but I think should something bad happen in the 8th Terrero would be better suited for Owens although Owens can move to left and the D is beter. Three pitches to end the inning there.
  22. 9 in a row retired until the homer. Keep Konerko in th 6 hole for a while.
  23. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 07:36 PM) I almost rather we were up 5-2 right now so Garland could pitch the 8th and Jenks the 9th for sure. I bet we see one of the newbies if we are up 4, and that makes me very nervous. With two lefties it has to be Thorton or Logan if not Garland.
  24. Britton has settled down, new streak appears to have begun. He has saved the Yankee pen. With Clemens coming back Saturday DeSalvo now can come out of the pen which is why he may have been pulled so early. Starters are looking quite nice Garland 0 ER. Guillen with a big decision for the 8th. Most likely Thorton. Garland at 97 pitches
