  1. Hire Boston's hitting coach he has got to be great.........................
  2. I will say this again and again with one of the worst leftfielders in baseball Brian Anderson needs to be in centerfield every day. His hitting does not cost us, that is why the other guys in the lineup are making about 4 times more than he is.
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) So what, its a slump, stick with what we have which is 7 pretty good offensive players atop our lineup. Offense goes on slumps, defense doesn't, so during a time like this its even more important to ensure that we won't give up extra runs. But Ozzie has done the opposite (and I don't have a problem looking for offense if we need a spark plug or have struggled all season with it) and we've seen game after game where we've given up a few extra runs thanks to having s*** defensive players out there. Brian Anderson and his .160 avg is more valuable than Rob Mack and his .250 avg on this White Sox team (and starting in CF). Anderson has easily saved more runs than Mack has batted in and has kept this team in a lot of ball games. I wish he would start hitting, but the only way he's going to do that is with more practice. He has a hole in his swing down and away and pitchers are exploiting it. He's also struggled with ihs approach, but both are fixable with time and a good work ethic and from everything I've heard Anderson has that (and he has the tools). Patience is all thats needed. Your last two posts are right on. Other slumping players are killing us. If Pods is not on base, he does not deserve a uniform. Anderson is a gold glove caliber CF. Other guys are paid to hit, Iguchi, Pods, AJ. ANderson is not.
  4. I am surprised Cintron isn't at 2B tonight. Iguchi is around .200 against lefties, I believe.
  5. My take on the Tigers is that their rotation is good and bullpen is very strong. Their lineup on paper is not that good. They have some solid big league players but I am not sold on Shelton, Monroe, Granderson, Infante, Inge, Gomez, Thames, Polanco for any length of time. Ordonez, I-Rod and Guillen are legit. The thing though that I do like is they seemed to work the count really really well. Every count was 2-2 or 3-2. It seems nobody swung until they had at least a strike and in some cases two and if the count went 0-2, 1-2 they worked it hence the high pitch counts. If this is their approach against everyone, I like it. As for the Indians their rotation is good. Westbrook is a .500 pitcher unless he faces us. Their pen is equal to ours but our rotation is better. As for hitting I like Hafner, Martinez and Sizemore. I do not think to much of Broussard, Blake, Belliard, Boone, Michaels, Jhonny I am not sure of. If the Sox mind their business theis division will be tough but manageable. The Indians are losing to the Tigers who are losing to the White Sox who are losing to the Indians so what do I know.
  6. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 10:23 AM) Yes they have. The only exception is the 12-8 CLE game. Well 5 of 6. I really think this is the problem right now. Teams are allowed to come back and get into games becuase we give them the momentum. I have noticed all season that we rarely hit relievers, any of them. The first two games in Toronto, all three against Texas and 2 of the 4 against the Indians. Geez other teams mop up guys are killing us.........
  7. Have the Sox been shut out after the 4th inning in 4 of their last 5 games.....
  8. Agreed, a good example is a team being down 5-0 and about to lose their 5th straight but they fought and came back...........no time to panic yet.
  9. Bunt and get his fatass moving in the heat.
  10. If you are suspended you are not paid. 9 games although only 1 start is 6% of their salary where one game is only 1%. Pitchers are not paid by when the pitch but as the rest of players are. In the case of Contrearas this is a difference of $400K.
  11. Contrearas and Lee will get the same number of games. You loss your pay for the games which you are suspended for. Therefore although I agree 100% in the suspending a starter long enough to miss a start or something, in this case it would be hard to support Contrearas getting more than Lee, thus hitting him in the pocket book at a greater percentage than Lee. I think they both get a game.
  12. Maddux ERA 4.26.......
  13. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ May 24, 2006 -> 10:00 AM) If it was a day game it wouldve been a no game. I hope it dosent rain all day. Is Oakland off tomorrow? I assume they are which is why it is not a day game today. I wonder if they will play it tomorrow afternoon......if Oakland is off.
  14. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ May 24, 2006 -> 07:58 AM) Pablo Ozuna takes a ton of pitches. In this situation he got a perfect pitch to bunt the pitcher was just going to try and get ahead of him. Also he is a good bunter, he even said he was a better bunter than hitter. Maybe he thought ot himself, if the pitcher throws me a pitch I can push to the right I can get a running start and beat it out because the second basemen is playing deep in the hole and the pitcher falls to the third base side. To compare this play to Neifi Perez is night and day. The best thing Neifi could have done was move the tying run into scoring position. Of the people I was watching the game with, 4 guys said he should try this. Ozuna seemed to think about this before he went to bat.
  15. On May 3rd what did Ozuna do in similar situation(S).......maybe the guy has good baseball instinct.....maybe

  17. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 23, 2006 -> 01:15 PM) The original reason gave here was because Baines wanted more face time since this was going to be his final year with the Sox (either he was going to retire or try and find a better coaching gig). However, he just signed an extension so I honestly have no idea why Baines is out there now. Raines was a better baserunner and is far more knowledgable when it comes to that aspect of the game, so I figure he'd be the better base coach. The reason Raines is in the dugout, I thought, was because Raines could talk to players because he was on the bench now as oppossed to being on the field while the players were on the bench.
  18. This thread confuses me. Baines just resigned a three year deal. Raines is unsigned with a decision to made on him after the season. Have I got them confused As for why Raines is at first, graduation makes sense for Baines. Walker is gone tomorrow I believe for the same thing.
  19. The thing I see about Thorton is that guys just try to put the ball in play against him like they do against Jenks. They give up crappy hits and can be dinked to death. I also think that other guys are more patient against Jenks and Thorton because they know they may have trouble catching up to the heat. I think Thorton and Jenks have better pitches than just the fastball but being a reliever they to do have the luxury to establish different pitches and find out what is working. They have to make good pitches from the get go. In the World Series extra inning game, Jenks was throwing a ton of sliders. In the 9th inning though you do not want to be beat on a slider if your fastball is a better pitch. Jenks got comfortable with the curve last night and made Crosby look like a fool. Both of these guys are converted front line starters with 3 major league pitches. Location is all they need to be a devastating duo.
  20. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 23, 2006 -> 11:47 AM) What do you suggest? Go out and get another Ace and pay heavily for him even though the guy probably won't even start in the playoffs? I'd like to hear your plan of action. Jon at least treads water. That's all I ask. Keep us in ballgames. I agree with this but he is being paid like a number two starter. Going into this season I had always defended him but at $9M a year he better have an ERA under 4 and a WHIP below 1.4. He needs to perform at the level we are paying him not as a "number 5 starter" that is BS.
  21. Look at the White Sox pre-Frank Thomas and look at them during Frank Thomas. I believe he played as big a role as any in getting this organization moving in the direction it did. He was one of the best players in the game for about 10 years and deserves a nice hand. His ideas and thoughts are none of my business I paid to enjoy his ability to play baseball. I did not pay to hear his thoughts on anything. Look at the White Sox with Frank Thoams on that team. How often did they finish below second place. I also believe they had the 4th best record in baseball while he was on the White Sox. Standig 'O' Also Thome was offered a big contract and turned it down for Philly who offered a bigger contract, Thomas was released. FWIW.
  22. DJ said that Cora bit Daryl Strawberry because the pitcher was turning blue from being choked by Daryl.
