  1. Looking at Meaux, why has he never been spoken of here? His control looks good. I don't understand why he is not thought of along the lines of Pachero, Sanders or like Ring was.
  2. Let's see it will cost them Zambrano, there goes a big piece of the rotation. The loss of A-Rod pits the Rangers agaisnt the Cubs for Wood after next season. Who wins Tex???? Players are attracted to their Texas homes. Trading for A-Rod would be yet another blow to the Sosa ego as well. In two years A-Rod $27M; Sosa $18M; Prior $10+M(?) I think his deal was three years; Wood $15M on FA market; Clement (at current level) $8M = $78M good luck filling out this team.
  3. Don't the fish have an option/arbitration on Pavano? I do nto beleive is free to the open market as of yet. If so, I'd take him in a heartbeat.
  4. I like this kind of chatter, wheather it is true or not who cares it makes the day a little better. Lee for Perez Koch for Cedeno +$$ for salary differences Sign Fernando Vina and Sid Ponson Ordonez for Soriano/Weaver
  5. I think it could be both as the Angels need starting pitching. The problem with this trade is we still have a poor rotation. Until we address starting pitching, these types of moves are just treading water. I would think with these moves, why not try and enter the Nomar race?
  6. I thought we were getting to young as well but Caveman and Nossek are pretty good minds I guess. Would've liked Leyva.
  7. Barbershop quartets played in front of the stadium.
  8. Not sure why I hate this move but it looks more and more like a bunch of 20 year olds taking over a Pony league team and everyone looking like morons. Welcome to the 2004 White Sox. If you told me this at the All-Star break, I would've laughed really hard. This team never fails to embarass themselves. Good way to surround yourself with baseball minds. I do not envy Joe Nossek. Combined experience at each level of coaching at the major league level; Cooper (1 1/2 yr.) Santana (1 yr) Walker ( 1/2 yr) Cora (0yr) Guillen (0 yr) Nick Leyva, hell Bruce Kimm would've looked better. The lack of respect in the locker room from the players for this group is going to be a f***ing joke. welcome to 1987.
  9. That was his role with the Angels. They didn't think he could do the job, not sure why we think he can all of a sudden. The Angels had a solid bullpen and crappy rotation and still didn't want him in there.
  10. Podsednik is a stud, they do have a bunch of good kids. How old is he? I liked Alex Sanchez a ton, who did they get for him?
  11. The Brewers system definitely has taken a turn for the better. From AA down, it is pretty well stocked with potential high impact prospects. Wonder if this means Roland Hemond may be cutting back or leaving? or we found our replacement for KW.
  12. I purposed this a week or so ago. I would also look into getting the Red Sox involved and try and get Nomar while shifting cash around. Rangers - Manny +$5M a season for remainder of K from Boston = ($10M payroll) Sox - A-Rod = $0 payroll affect this year Boston - Maggs/Konerko - $5M to Texas = $25M in salary but free up cash for Nomar and Pedro in future year. This sounds goofy but it is kind of off the top of my head.
  13. Next up, Director of Player Development and Financal Control for the Tigers?
  14. Excuse me... I said it was BULL s***. How do you know "Love Sidney?" I actually am kind of starting to like him. Sure KW will f*** it up.
  15. Can you pull up Colon's stats at 27 and compare to Ponson. I think the age thing will really work for Sid.
  16. Are you kidding 4 AB's? It won't take near that long, all he has to do is take a first pitch strike in his first AB and everyone will start complaining... LOL It certainly didn't take Neal Cotts long to "suck" The difference is that Cotts downfall (control,) is very hard to correct. This is why I do not think we will see Cotts perform at the major league level. If he does not have control he will not make it. He can not overpower people. If they could package Cotts and Borchard for Vazquez, I would nto be too put off. I think the two hardest things to teach are strike zone discipline (cutting down strikeouts,) for a hitter and control for a pitcher. The things Borchard and Cotts lack and one of the pluses for Reed.
  17. I don't know about the whole thing. Thomas and JR are suppossed to be pretty close as are Ozzie and JR apparently. Shouldn't this conversation have come up especially with Frank being allowed to file for free agency?and Ozzie being a prominent candidate?
  18. Colon, our season starts and ends right here. There is no discussion of success next season without him.
  19. What experienced manager have the Sox ever hired?
  20. I got one for you, Jeff Torborg.
  21. I said yesterday for Koch, Konerko and $5M for each year of the remainder of Manny's contract, I would take hime. Manny and Magglio would not need much more around thema dn this would be fun to watch. Magglio-Ramirez-Thomas-Lee would be very dangerous.
  22. I couldn't find that in the archives, please give more info, either # or maybe your board name on MLB. It is from this site. QUOTE (HSC's Biggest Fan @ Sep 9 2003, 08:00 AM) QUOTE (Ncorgbl @ Sep 9 2003, 12:07 AM) That string went well over 756 replies. Another thing you didn't get right is that I didn't start this, nor any s***. I do finish things, however. If the Tub of Goo thread(s) is not starting something I don't know what is. Why? Is our 'Tub O' Goo' your brother in law? Does he owe you money? Oh, I know, you bought him lunch and are still making payments! Did you grow up in Chicago? Have you ever been here? Are you more than 6 years old? If that's what you call 'starting something' you've led a very sheltered life.
  23. "I have agreed with him many times before but two months ago when I disagred with him and had no personal attack toward him whatsoever I was called a child who has never been to Chicago. Funny....somehow I am 32 and have resided all 32 years in Chicago but somehow became a child from Iowa in his eyes." Any chance there might be just a bit more to your 'stories'? Go look, title of the thread is "Now That is Why we need Colon!!, merged" Not a story, direct quote when I accused you of starting something with all of the negative post toward Colon. Simple point of getting personal toward me when I questioned your motives on the berating of Colon.
  24. LOL Well other than attacking Josh and calling him names earlier in this thread when all he did was agree with me, I guess you are perfect. If you think I am going to waste any more of my time "finding one single post" of yours, then you are delusional in thinking how much this conversation means to me. The fact that because I don't respond to your challenges means I don't get them is comical in itself, showing just how much you think the world revolves around you. You have showed your ass, I no longer need to continue this conversation and will not. I have better things to do than being called a kid by you. If you had half a clue, you would know better. Guess that is too much to ask. Au Revoir I have agreed with him many times before but two months ago when I disagred with him and had no personal attack toward him whatsoever I was called a child who has never been to Chicago. Funny....somehow I am 32 and have resided all 32 years in Chicago but somehow became a child from Iowa in his eyes.
