Another great Sox article
I actually have to agree. All of my information on the Sox comes from this website. 90% of the casual fans think the trades last year was Reinsdorf "going for it." On this site it was brought out that those trades cost us good prospects and JR padi no salary in exchange lost just about a minor league team to "go for it." Casual fans only cared that they were not Joe Borchard or Kris Honel so who cares and JR did nothing to hurt us in the future. Media coverage can go into the fact that this team could be better by trading Maggs not as a salary dump but a way to get Borchard/Reed playing time using Aaron and restocking with some top flight pitching prospects. These are the things that more than anything will draw fans to the park other than wins and losses. The media does more than anything to promote or kill a team. They are responsible for the negative approach to the upperdeck. Instead of comparing it to Cleveland, New York, Seattle, Texas, or pointing out that you can see everything without sitting behind a post they write it can not be sat in. Also the new centerfield arrangement did nothing but cut down on the sightlines of 50 or so fans. The media coverage and resulting appearence to the public hurts salary as much as anything. Instead of being a Pep Rally it is a detriment.

Sox Fest Saturday Sold Out
I cancelled my season ticket plan and was offered free passes for Saturday. The big thing will be is how close the Sox come to selling out Opening Day. A Tuesday at 1:00 in April, gonna be tough.

Maggs to LA logjam could break
I would actually try and get both of them. In our s***ty division these guys could really excel, see Esteban Loiaza.
-
Scott Erickson
I think Murphy Brown is more likely then Kevin Brown.

kenny williams interview
You really shouldn't admit that you were 16 and getting your ass kicked by your 13 year old sister. Unless your sister is Nicole Bass.

Maggs to LA logjam could break
I heard he was a bad influence on younger guys with a David wells type party lifestyle. Didn't he drag Sidney Ponson to a Metallica concert the day before a start aginst the Yankees or somehting like that. His character did seem to be an issue. Although that has never stopped KW before.

Ray Durham does not return my phone calls. I think it is safe to say everyone liked the personality of Ray Durham. If he didn't pop up a tad too often and had any range up the middle we would've loved him.

Maggs to LA logjam could break
I also think maggs will cost the Dodgers Ishii (sp?)

Maggs to LA logjam could break
Pick up Erickson and give him a shot what do we have to lose? I don't think he would get a guaranteed contract. You can never have enough mediocore to below average starting pitchers.

Aaron Boone out for the year
Marcus Pfizer, Jamal Crawford....

Maggs tearing the ball in Venezuela
I think at the end of the day the White Sox will. they will have excess cash next offseason and will need to do something. Maggs will resign at $13-$15M a year.

Frank Thomas Article
What has he ever done? He has never been in trouble with the law, drugs or what not. Now that six guys are higher paid, salary isn't ever the reason to blast him.

kenny williams interview
I give KW credit for this. He tries to make his team better. Last year was the best team we have had in a long time. Taking payroll from 30-60M is great but where did it go - - Ordonez, Valentin, Wells, Foulke, konerko. Take it from 60-90 and now there are things that can be done. That $30M lies solely on retention of players that are production. See the Brewers and why they suck every year but would be competive if they spent to keep players.

Didn't Schueler trade three young pitchers, one still playing, for Steve Sax? This goes back in this post that I didn't wnat to quote due to the length. I beleive the Ritchie deal was more Schueler than Williams.

A decent Sox article in the Sun-Times today:
Payroll isn't kept down by paying Konerko, Koch, Ordonez and Valentin $33.5M in 2004. Without these four we could overpay for Colon, Maddux and Everett and still have money left over.

"BOBBY G'S"
Give me Obbie's deepdish pizaa or give me death. I was at Lawler's when it used to be a liquor store with a bar in the back. I miss Snoopy's and the dude that played for the Knicks that owned the joint that I think is called Steve's. Was at Linda's often and hopped from there and Solofa's now I am a Sean's Rhino Bar on western. Archer is still bettter.

Warning: May cause rise in blood pressure
I think this guy really pulls for the Sox. The Sox are a Chicago team. The cub is a national team. The sports scene in this town is pathetic and has been for years, except for Jordan. This is why all of his stuff always negative. I do not like him and think he is a dolt but he is right a majority of the time. We have the worst Hockey and Basketball teams, have made the NFL playoffs once in the last ten years. Have the longest running streak without a championship in Hockey, and Baseball TWICE over. When we have a dynasty we blow it up and run the guy out of town. we live on teh '85 Bears, why should there ever be a positive article? Bartolo Colon, Jeremy Roenick, Elton Brand, and Greg Maddux. When a team fleeces another (Sammy Sosa) it was at another's expense. Gotta love smalltown Chicago. I am waiting for the day when Daley makes them take Chicago off of the team name due to the embarassment of the association.

Controversy
How do you know this s***. Why wouldn't this be in the press? If she knows baseball she will know that he can get his feet wet with no pressure whatsoever unlike LA, Seattle, New York or playing for the cub, have some fun playing in the majors and go home with a nice few years here in the states.

Here's a trade rumor that makes perfect sense!!
Unless you are Pedro Martinez or Mark Prior, all power pitches have control issues. They throw more pitches and therefore need to throw more strikes. This is not the case with Neil Cotts. he simply has control issues. The Dodgers would not give up Perez for Konerko there is no way they will give up Kaz. If they do anything they will trade Perez to get rid of him and sign Maddux.

How great would Pujols look in a Sox uni...
Why pay huge money to a corner outfielder/infielder. Ask KW about Lee, Orodnez, Thomas and Konerko. You can't win with these guys making all of the money.

White Flag 2004
It is stupid because we live in Chicago and it is true. Our rotation is a complete joke. Unless Neil Cotts comes back as someone else, he is a AAAA pitcher. Remember the strike zone is a-lot tougher in the majors. We are missing two starting pitchers and that assumes Buerhle pitches the whole season like the second half of last year, Garland grows up, and Loiaza doesn't revert back to 2002 form. That is just the rotation. I will not go into the lineup the lost 1-0 to the Tigers TWICE and the San Diego Padres. $8-$14M/year hitters carry teams in these games. I have held out hope most of the offseason but after looking at the 40 man roster the other day, all hope is gone. .500 is old, especially after the big price increase.

Don't expect Thomas at Soxfest
I work across the street from the hotel and will not be going why should a guy fly in from Vegas? Ozzie is a joke and this team will prove it. Joey Cora and Ozzie Guillen will make this team a mockery thereby allowing uncle jerry to come in next year with a $30M payroll. If I was Frank I would sit back swing from the heels and try hitting 50 homers and sign somewhere for the minimum next offseason. Buerhle, Garland, Loiaza, all have to improve dramatically for us to win and I do not see it happening. What fanfare is there to be had in that?

soxfest Q and A...
I got the feeling the KW Q&A will not take place this year and will be replaced with a Talking Basball type of thing with Rooney, Bruce Levine, Ken Harrleson, Darren Jackson type of thing. Soxfest will be an absolute joke. I work across the street and don't think I will be going. I have no hope whatsoever for the upcoming season. Watching Scott Schoenweis and Danny Wright in our rotation disgusts me. No worse than having to put up with Ozzie Guillen though. I think this franchise is about to hit an alltime low. On second thought maybe I will ask William Ligue and the dude from Bolingbrook to attend the Q&A with me.
-
I've had it with the KW bashing
Billy Beane has won as many playoff series as KW. The fact he gets there has more to do with 3 great starting pitchers, now maybe 4 than anything else. Jermaine Dye was a complete waste of valuable money and he just got rid of his only catcher. I am not completly sold on Billy Beane being that great.
-
Here is the challenge
They can't do anything without losing value for the players they trade. KW hands are tied because of the contracts given to Konerko, Ordonez, and Koch. Enjoy the season for 78 wins.
