  1. If Sosa hits one in th 12th to win..............
  2. You can't start a game at 9 Cental time especially in October as the weather could be horrendous, it will actually be beautiful again this evening. Mother nature shines on the Marlins, it was pretty cool last Friday and Saturday, freezing (literally) for south Florida this time of year. I think 6 ET (NYY) and 7:45 CT (CHI) would be nice. The problem with all of this is the commercial breaks are 5 minutes long and the game, even at quick pace takes 3 1/2 hours. I think this can kill ratings pretty quick. I got hooked on NYPD Blue and missed a huge chunk of the game.
  3. The Marlins new owner appears to be in it to win it. What makes you think Castillo will leave? I think they will trade Lowell but resign Castillo. Free Agency is unpredictable currently, this will help us with Colon and may hurt guys next year like Wood as he is a free asgent after next season. Watch for the cubs to make a run a Maddux or Millwood in the offseason.
  4. This did make me chuckle. I was wondering why nothing was said on television.
  5. Take this with a grain of salt as I can not see a Sox fan not cursing through this process. The best story is about the two cub fans that beat the crap out of a female cop on the L platform after a cub game.
  6. The only thing I had a problem with was Lyons saying that the runner interferred when he was tagged on the Grudzy play. He then stated what a great call it was.
  7. KW made moves but he didn't take on salary. He basically sold 6 minor leaguers to Texas and the Mets for the free services of Alomar and Everett. JR did s*** for this. We could've gotten these guys for nothing if we took their salary, see the cub and priate relationship. If JR was serious we would have picked up a pitcher. the ballpark will be empty next year unless some serious moves are made. JM should've been gone in May and this killed us in the end. The noise was made last year and we lost a-lot of minor leaguers becasue JR refusing to be serious about winning. The deeper into the playoffs the cub goes, the further the Sox fall on the scope of those fence sitting fans and there are a ton of them. I know for one there will be no renewal and Opening Day is the only game I really want to go to. The next week in the scene of the Chicago White Sox is bigger than just the cub going to the World Series it could be the nail in the coffin as far as our impact on this city. For some reason I feel JR is oblivious to this as he sits in the desert. Rent won't be an issue.
  8. Why wouldn't the Marlins hire Ozzie? McKeon is up there and Ozzie knows these guys.
  9. I think this has to do with the atmosphere of the time and why Dusty's boys are performing well. I think the pressure in the playoffs can really get to a team and the mindset is huge. This is why i think the Braves lose, Bobby Cox is not a good playoff manager. Big choke artists....Andruw Jones, has this guy ever done anything. He could be one of the most over rated players around.
  10. Oakland is the worst sports town in America they can't sell-out the Raiders and draw about as bad as the Sox. Damon has a concussion but there was not a status on if he will play. That collison is nasty.
  11. Manny Ramirez can flat out hit, all other s*** aside, he can hit. Although his stroll was excessive, it was a huge hit in a huge game. To do this every time up or in the 6th in a game in June, it would be stupid. I would take him above just about anyone else with teh game on the line. The $20M/year price tag will keep him in Boston for a long time to come.
  12. Hudon is too invaluable, I would not. But if it was something retarded by a dumb player like Fick, and what he did to Karros, all I have to say is... HE GONE. Robert Fick cost the Braves games 1 and 3 with his terrible defense. I think it is safe to assume that his options will be along the lines of working for the Tigers and and taking beer showers (not from winning either,) on a professional basis.
  13. This should be green right? He makes Harry's last couple of years look vintage.
  14. Francona was thought as highly as Wally Backman a few years back with the Sox. Buddy Bell as failed elsewhere not sure why we think he would succeed here.
  15. Makes even more sense always get the pub out there.
  16. He is the mayor of the city. He has to root for both teams as they both benefit the city. I see your point but this is life and business not the fun we get out of it. For PC sake at the highest level he has to back both. Why was he in Atlanta to begin with?
  17. They did that with Harden and they won. Stupidity was the most prominent trait of the 2003 White Sox.
  18. Ozzie Guillen had no patience at the plate and I do not recall him being all that great of a fundamental player, just what we need. His persona may be cute but I think this would be a tragic hiring.
  19. It is majestic. I do not know what that word means but it seems to soud like it fits in the spirit of this thread. Except for the bikini paint ball portion.
  20. Funny thing about that play was the first thing that went through my head was would Konerko, Lee, Ordonez, Thomas, Crede or Valentin have tried that to win the game????? Winning should always be everything.
  21. I agree that our advance scouting could be blamed if the nature of team was to adjust to the pitcher but we use the same philosophy every at-bat. I really think this team does not discuss tendencies and strategy, they appear to just go at it and see what happens.
  22. I understand the not seeing a guy but a good hitter should be able to adjust and although not go 4-4 with 3 homers, they should be able to get an idea. These new guys are not inventing new pitches. i thin it is the approach of the hitters adn their mentality. This needs to be dealt with before any good is to come from this team. Pop outs are way to common for it to never be addressed. I didn't see any in the game last evening. You know we would have had at least three in the 8th and 9th.
  23. Freddy for Carlos wouldn't be bad if we didn't get Colon back. If we did get Colon back, Ordonez for Freddy and a couple of prospects. I like good pitching.
  24. Pedro Martinez has stated point blank that he will pitch for the Yankees in 2005. Do the Yanks want both of these guys? As awesome a rotation as that would be, the Yanks need to look at position players and bullpen; and trim some fat, goo may be the casualty. The Red Sox on the other hand are looking to trim some payroll and goo may not fit in there either. $36M is a-lot to pass up when the turmoil exists as it does in baseball today. Could Robbie explain that NY is not as good as it sounds. And Carl the same for Boston? The more I think of this offer the more I think Bart has something to think about. Remember Wood and Martinez may be available next year as well as Loiaza. I think the manager being named is important and could have a little chat with Colon and get him to see things in a different light.
