QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 5, 2007 -> 01:53 PM) AJ is a catcher, he is no longer what I would call young, and he is a big guy. All of that contributes to significant wear and tear. I'd be happy with him sitting for 30 games a year. That's what he has done for most of his career. Last year was his busiest, but he has usually caught around 130. Maybe that's why I'm confused about the talk about him sitting more. He sat 22 last year. I thought these sitting comments meant dropping down to 100-110 from the 130 he has average since becoming a starter.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 5, 2007 -> 09:17 AM) Ozzie, who likes to rest most of his guys regularly (except PK), will start Hall most of the time against LHP. But, if Haeger makes the club and one C or the other is better at handling him, that will throw a wrench in the works. Either way, AJ will get fewer plate appearances, and benefit from that. .295/12/65, with the usual solid defense and an improvement in pitch-calling. Plus a couple tussles. Some players need the regular ABs. What makes you believe the rest will help? Plus, I'm not certain resting him that much is good for the pitching staff. I seem to be the only one that thinking AJ on the bench for a bunch of games is not a plus for the team.

Sitting here annoyed at my HP Pavilion laptop that has been a great performing tank of a laptop for years. But the second battery just died, I see a small crack in the hinge, the speaker out is getting touchy, and the hard drive is stuffed full. So I decided I should start thinking about researching a new laptop. Jump to my email and . . . Boom, the great cosmos marketers from Dell dropped a email into my box and 5 minutes later I bought a Inspiron E1705. Dual Core 1.733, 120G SATA, 17" display. DVD burner. I've never owned a Dell laptop, and I heard this sucker is huge with that 17" display and all. Not exactly a slick portable, but I will be using it a lot as a desktop replacement and believe the extra weight will be worth it. Now the loooong wait for Dell to ship on the 15th. Sooo cool, the skins http://dell.skinit.com/devices//dell_inspi...p;deviceId=1185

I think he struggles in the platoon situation and winds up playing a lot more in the second half. .285/10/50

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 5, 2007 -> 02:25 AM) I had a shot at a 300 game once, but I choked in the 2nd frame. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 5, 2007 -> 06:30 AM) I had a shot at a 300 game once, but I choked on the first ball. I choked Linda Lovelace , twice.

Can you imagine if this appeared on Fox News?

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Jan 1, 2007 -> 08:59 PM) It's an evil plot by a biased media if it happens to your guy on the other side's media outlet. Simple. -
I don't think the original Madden would have a label.

Just some cheap trailers. We just went through this on South Padre Island, the County has a great RV park and public access beaches on the Island and wanted to sell it to a developer for hundreds of millions. The public was outraged and the land is staying open for public use and for the winter Texans and their RVs. BTW, there wasn't any pictures but manufactured homes have come a long way. They range up to $1,000,000 in some ski areas to hundreds of thousands in other areas. I'd consider a $150,000 trailer on the beach with literally a billion dollar view. I'd rather have a well founded sailboat in the harbor.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Dec 28, 2006 -> 05:45 PM) More Climbers Dead It seems like a good time to stop dying on mountains. And smoking and drinking and driving and eating transfats . . . Life, No One Gets Out Alive

How about "Mike"? IMHO the Southsider has to remain, update the year. I was thinking JugKiller but that seemed to sophomoric.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 1, 2007 -> 07:09 PM) Give Sisco his shot like all the others. If he earns a rotation slot, he earns it. Damn Yas, that's too simple and too logical for January on a message board.

QUOTE(Beltin @ Jan 2, 2007 -> 06:51 PM) Yes. I recall one against Detroit at home in September and another I think against the Twins. This one from the espn list is most amazing of all to me. "The Mariners somehow "hit" into a triple play in a Sept. 2 game in Tampa Bay -- without a ball being put in play. Raul Ibanez got called out on strikes for the first out. Adrian Beltre got nailed stealing second for the second out. Then Jose Lopez bolted for the plate and got thrown out at home for the third out." That's a rally killer

At least we'll never have to worry about another dictator running their country like Saddam did. Because the death penalty is a deterrent.

I was just thinking a birthday thread would be appropriate. WWJSNB* What would Jesus screen name be?

I am so proud to live in a country where a young, poor, unidentified, and probably here illegally, person, would receive this kind of love and caring. We are a very rich country which has received many of God's blessings. We can always find room to help those in need. Perhaps when we think of illegals, we can remember a little girl who had the American dream.

And as always, there are unintended consequences of really going after the DA. It makes other DAs leery of aggressively prosecuting other possible criminals. Then the pendulum swings the other way and there is public outrage when a DA decides he doesn't have enough evidence to prosecute because he fears they will throw the book at him if he doesn't get a conviction.

It's all about potential for potential. Both of the major players in this trade have the potential to be #1 Aces in most MLB lineups. It is impossible to predict with any great certainty. So look to the other players tossed in and I think the odds are slightly better that the Sox will get more use out of these players than what was traded. The difference is so slim that this isn't that big of a deal on talent alone. Toss in personality, those couple of gems that bmac tossed, and you have a 700 post thread. On talent alone this will be an edge trade. Someone will get a slight edge out of it.

That is the reoccuring theme down here in Texas. No one here I have spoken to thinks the Rangers won this trade. They all think the Sox swindeled their GM. Thank can't believe the organization traded Nolan Ryan's second coming.
-
Well compared to the days when he traded for a guy and found out it wasn't the one he thought it was, he's come a long way. Some of this could be posturing and making the guy feel wanted and "special". We'll never hear about the guys they are coveting and never get. So it may seem he only gets guys he's been stalking and has a man crush on.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 05:15 PM) All personalized with the Sox logo? Sweet! Reading, it's a good thing LOL, I guess I should read closer but . . . Sweet itt is. I used a woodburning set and a dremel to carve in the logos. I'm hoping for a Danks & Jenks jersey. Does that sound more like a law firm or a sports bar?

QUOTE(SnB @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 12:14 PM) how so? If you replace before, you can copy everything onto the new drive. If you wait for your current drive to crash, the data, programs, operating system, etc. will probably not be recoverable.
