  1. Again, I agree with your view of parenting. Here's what you said If you don't understand why projecting your religious beliefs on a sports team, in 2022, is a fucking ridiculous and idiotic thing, especially given how culturally diverse sports are, maybe you need to enter the 21st century? You specified "projecting your religious beliefs" leaving open projecting your non religious beliefs. I just questioned why you allow some beliefs but not others. I don't believe a person has to be an evangelical to support diversity. I'm just a liberal minded individual open to allowing all views to be represented. I assume evangelicals have the same need to share their beliefs that you do. Nice conversation. Thank you.
  2. If you *believe* two parents are better, or marriage before children, that's a belief. If you believe parents don't have to be married that's not a belief? I believe that non religious people can have beliefs. They may believe that murder is bad or you shouldn't steal. be·lieve /bəˈlēv/ verb 1. accept (something) as true; feel sure of the truth of. "the superintendent believed Lancaster's story" Similar: be convinced by trust have confidence in take as gospel So when a religious and an agnostic person are sharing their beliefs when should the religious person shut up and just allow the angnostic person to speak? That's my main point. You are trying to respect diversity by just allowing similarity and silencing the actual diversity you seem to be trying to protect. I actually agree with your opinion on wedlock and kids. The difference is I don't mind sharing the opposite belief. The respectful exchange of beliefs is a positive way to bridge differences through respecting those differences not marginalization and suppression.
  3. Hmm. Seven year itch? More likely a NL team would come here.
  4. Then the team can finally move to Vegas or San Antonio. When is that stadium contract up?
  5. That's your belief. Should you leave it at home or share it here? If your belief is shared by millions of other people does it make it less valid?
  6. I'm not certain you have to be religious to believe that porn or casually having children is a bad thing. Looking at statistics kids do better with two parents no matter the wealth. So we'll respect cultural similarity but not diversity? You say diverse then shut down something based on Muslim faith? I'm not certain that respects the diversity. I'm also going to agree that the workplace may not be the best place for that dialogue.
  7. I've wanted him fired since last winter. I've never liked this roster's chances. But I thought I was wrong when so many people predicted them to win.
  8. And I'm just looking at a poorly constructed roster that needs major retooling.
  9. I want to hear injuries destroyed this season, here's what we're doing about it.
  10. Now imagine JR holding a press conference and saying we are hiring Francona and keeping the roster the same. We'll make the playoffs no doubt at all. With too many bench players either incompetent or with overlapping skills. A questionable at best right side defense. I think there needs to be several roster moves before any manager has a no doubt at all shot. That doesn't mean I think Tony and Hahn shouldn't be replaced. I think Hahn's roster was a second place roster further mismanaged by Tony.
  11. That's the circle argument. Everyone it seemed liked the Sox chances. So isn't that a vote for Hahn? It seems like we have - Fire Tony because he took a roster that should have won the division easily and mismanaged it. (Plus a ton of other stuff). Fire Hahn because he put together a crappy roster that couldn't compete. Even though 80% of the fans here, Vegas, and a fuckton of analysts thought they would. I agree that Francona (actually almost anyone) would be a great upgrade.
  12. According to Balta better coaching would have completely different results including a division winner. That doesn't seem like Hahn is out of his element. It sounds like Hahn's guys just need better coaching.
  13. It's a terrible roster with too many one dimensional players and lower level talent. If it comes back mostly intact with a promise of better coaching for completely different results I won't be excited but I hope you are right. I think the roster needs a major overhaul to get completely different results not just a managerial change.
  14. Yep, they suck. Completely different? Mildly different is about as far as I'd go. I didn't see anything this year to change my opinion.
  15. Dumping injury prone is half the solution. Getting decent return is the harder part. Reference Madrigal to Cubs.
  16. I think I would share Quin's optimism but give Francona a few years.
  17. Same roster? I don't think so. Too many holes. I wasn't convinced in April and I'm certainly not convinced in September.
  18. Quin is convinced Francona could take *this team* to the top of the AL. I think we both would disagree.
  19. Folks that think injuries weren't a problem must be Tony's drinking buddies. Our bench sucked and dropped off even further looking at the rest of the system.
  20. Injuries don't matter when you have a strong 25 and a 40 with MLB ready players. Injuries are season killers when Garcia is your back up.
  21. So was it making excuses all winter when we said the team has no depth and injuries will kill their chances? Or are they only excuses when we say in September we were right, injuries killed their chances? I don't think you can dismiss injuries as just an excuse. Injuries exposed the weak depth both on the 25 and 40 men rosters. Injuries become a serious problem for any team without depth. If the team actually had depth, then I believe it would be valid to dismiss injuries as an excuse because you could reasonably expect the bench to step up. In this case the bench sucks, no one expected the bench to carry the team, therefore it's a legit reason the team lost the division.
  22. I agree. So how does Francona get these same guys to the top of the AL?
  23. Are you convinced enough in the talent assembled to keep Hahn?
  24. I'm all in on removing Tony and everyone that was hired while he was here. Especially if they had friends and family connections. Anything after that is a bonus.
  25. Exactly. Over and over we said the lack of depth would hurt us. So pointing out that's exactly what happened isn't making excuses, it's a fact we all knew would hurt. Now accepting this team has injury prone key players and a weak bench in a good organization would result in actions. Sadly, we're not a good organization.
