  1. True. But I'm more concerned about this team winning each series the rest of the way. ?
  2. Agreed about leaving him behind. But he was here so I'd like to see him back next opener to collect a WS ring for this season then go away.
  3. Again, Tony was 100% wrong. What more would you like me to say?
  4. One minor league manager left him behind, couldn't handle him anymore.
  5. Nice he's back. Keeping a little pressure off batting him down the order. He can lead off the 3rd.
  6. No doubt. Intentionally hitting someone anytime for any reason should be eliminated. I was speaking more about Mercedes' actions. He could have hit into a ground out and the issue would have been the same. That was the biggest difference between the two incidences from what the player did.
  7. A bigger issue was a player with a checkered history of being undisciplined and uncoachable ignoring a take sign at worst or missed it at best.
  8. Coming at it a different way. There are glaring holes to fill. This is the area of surplus. If you want a big upgrade at 2nd and/or right, you have to trade the guys with the most value. If you keep the guys with the most value then we'll wind up with lesser upgrades to fill the holes. Either option could work. The worst outcome is the most likely. Abreu walks with no return. The other three stay, and we keep treading water with old guys and not ready prospects.
  9. I don't mind if the Twins want to give up instead of battling. Go Sox And if agree 100% with you if this was in July.
  10. Gordon has pitched twice against the Sox this season, both with seven run deficits. Gordon has also pitched this season with eight and nine run deficits. (July 14th was the other game against the Sox). Of course we didn't call it bush league then but of course this situation is different. The question becomes should the Twins follow what he's done before or make a special effort to help the opposing pitcher no hit them? He's in a pennant race playing against the team he has to beat with a day game coming up. Your earlier quote by a Twins fan makes me lean towards he could have been excused for tossing another bullpen. I easily would agree if it wasn't September and both sides are battling for a playoff spot. If there wasn't a day game coming up, and he had never used a positional player like that before.
  11. I'm willing to see your point. I'm looking at the other five games he pitched this season. It seems like the Twins use positional players a lot. But if they were even bigger blowouts it's possible he was not interested in winning but was interested in stopping the no hitter.
  12. They used five relievers the day before. He tossed in the towel early when he pulled a couple starters. With a day game today he waved the white flag and played for today. I believe he would have used a position player ever if Cease wasn't going for a no hitter.
  13. It was an obvious loss and they went deep in their bullpen both games. They needed to win game three. If Tony ever said he burned a bullpen arm because the opposing pitcher had a no hitter going I would have screamed. I can't fault Minny for doing exactly what I'd want us to do.
  14. f*** the naysayers. He had the balls to take on their best.
  15. Come on if Tony used our bullpen in an obvious loss because an opponent had a no hitter going he'd be roasted here.
  16. His bullpen is out of arms and they have a day game tomorrow. He'd be an idiot not to use a position player.
  17. Nice we look so formidable that other teams toss in the towel early.
