8/9 Game 1 GT: Sox at Royals - Lynn vs. TBD (Tue 310CT)
Texsox replied to ChiSox59's topic in 2022 Season in Review
To substitute for the normal Sox game I suggest picking up a piece of Ikea furniture and trying to assemble it in the dark. It's about as close to the frustration level as I could think of. -
I'll look them up. Thank you.

You are an ingenious gentleman. It is one thing to write as poet and another to write as a historian.

Here's the #1 song from the day Tony was born A mule is an animal with long funny ears Kicks up at anything he hears His back is brawny but his brain is weak He's just plain stupid with a stubborn streak And by the way, if you hate to go to school You may grow up to be a mule

Bummer. I can only imagine that stress.

Lol welcome to an off day. -
It's awesome the family is with you at least. Better than stuck on there alone. When does your wife report back to school?

P.S. Mrs Keuchel you are about to discover that ironically only an organization as horrible as the Sox will have a major league roster spot for your son. -
If it were any other franchise . . . Even if they make the playoffs, I really hope he retires. It's embarrassing watching him. Falling asleep was just another straw on top of the other last straws. We'll have a giant parade in Tonyville, CA. He can be mayor for the day. Maybe most of the 360 residents will come out to watch. It's a fitting end to his Sox tenure.

Interesting she didn't mention the drop in his spin rate after MLB cracked down. -
At the minimum if he does fall asleep he won't roll off the bench.

She's not way off although I wonder what Cease's mom thinks of the organization? -
Many prescription medications carry warnings about drowsiness. High income white men over the age of 80 have a 91% probability of taking one or more medications. So maybe he just needs a little Red Bull and Viagra to get up for the game.

Players have walk up music, I think Tony needs a little wake up song. I propose a seventies classic Kid Charlemagne by Steely Dan. It tells the story of someone's rise by supplying drugs and their inevitable downfall after folks stops using the drugs. Hey Tony, is there gas in the car?

Congrats. Senior year is the best.

Did you take the bag off? I'm glad you saw a good game.

@Greg Hibbard after reading your post I really wish I could go back and start this thread with . . . . . . I'm tired of dealing with my disappointment by bitching about the team and organization. It's really about dealing with the most disappointing team in decades. This is suppose to be fun and entertaining.
-
Exactly. I agree with you entire post especially "away from being a contender". My 2022 expectations are now set at that level. I'm bitched out about this whole miserable organization. Once eliminated, I'll rally for one more fire Tony chant. I'll start complaining about Hahn not filling any holes for 2023. My expectations were much much higher at the trade deadline last year. They even peaked again in November when I thought they could, and would, address at least one of the holes. Then this person they created holes, not filled them. Plus the entire CBA process dropped my expectations. I was thinking about this. Obviously you have other things in life beyond Sox baseball. Eventually this miserable season will fade away and we'll both stop bitching. I'm tired and got to that point sooner. I'm not going to care more about winning than the owner and his organization. And kudos for the cognitive dissonance angle. While that is possible, I know I've been consistent in my expectations of this team. I predicted third place. Plus it's reasonable to lower expectations based on injuries.

As noted here at Soxtalk Hahn is a horrible GM and put together a team that can't contend and should be fired. I agree with that assessment. I'll disagree that Hahn put together an extremely talented team. As noted here Tony is way past his prime, falls fucking asleep in the dugout, and can't manage this team and should be fired. I agree with that assessment. As noted here we have a horrible approach at the plate brought on by a bad hitting coach who should be fired. I agree with this assessment. As noted here JR is an idiot owner and should sell the team. I agree with this assessment. Most dedicated fans knew this going in, yet still set high expectations. Those expectations were reinforced by the first few series. So it makes perfect sense to be disappointed. I've been disappointed for months. This is the most disappointing season in a long long time. What I'm doing (and I'm not suggesting anyone else should) is just to stop bitching constantly about the team. Based on the consensus of very knowledgeable baseball fans here, I'm done getting upset at this team and spending my time bitching about them. But that's just me. I enjoy the in depth analysis and passion that many posters put into this team. Of all the things that could seriously hurt this franchise apathy is perhaps the worse. Of course this is just my opinion. I'm glad it sparked a little discussion. It was a great win today. I enjoy seeing Leury having a great game.

It's just a baseball team. Comparing not caring as much about a baseball team to an insurrection where people died seems a bit extreme.

Which highlights why our immigration system makes economic sense for doctors, engineers, professors but not common labor. The focus seems to be to protect the minimum wage jobs from immigrants. I've said for years we need a guest worker program similar to the H1B visa but cheaper and easier to process for lower wage jobs.

Leury can cover other positions. Maybe some time at 2nd or 3rd. Maybe sit 0-4 Harrison, move Garcia to 2nd, and let's see Sosa before he's sent down.
