So if everyone knew Hahn put together a horrible team and TLR was such a horrible manager, and these guys suck this bad, why did so many posters here pick them to easily win the division? Most even had them winning a playoff series. What isn't happening is effort. What is happening are injuries and brain dead horseshit play. Too many players are having below average seasons. If these guys were playing like we expected we'd be bored, checking standings to see who we're playing in the first round instead of bitching half the nights.

Now let's look at Katz's MLB career numbers if anyone really believes that career stats are necessary to be a good coach. There are plenty of reasons to be critical of they guy, but this is a reach.

Exactly. Most of these guys have only been playing baseball for ten or fifteen years. You can't expect them to know what they are doing. You can't expect effort without coaches to motivate them. Most of these guys can't even turn left at first base without a coach. They need older adults to show them what to do.

They are. The thought is a quality $35,000 used car may be worth $32,000 in a year. That $7,000 may be worth $2,000 plus any repairs you made making the first one cheaper. Of course it's a different equation if you can pay cash for one versus financing the other.

I gave away my big wood smoker and picked up a Weber Smokey Mountain. I've been mostly happy with it. Charcoal using the minions method with some post oak. My brisket is almost as good as twelve hours of watching a wood fire and I can't tell the difference with pulled pork or chicken.

What promotions have gotten you to attend a specific game? For me at Sox games I'm usually clueless that a promotion is going on until I get to the game. For the San Antonio Missions pricing promos get me in the door.

But from there it's close your eyes and get to Chicago as quick as possible. The giant portrait of Lincoln on that building in Springfield is about the only sight I look forward to.

I stared this because the side conversation was stopped within a locked game thread. I'm a road trip guy and make the drive from San Antonio to Chicago a couple times a year. About ten years ago my wife was doing some research and stumbled upon St. Charles, Mo. ( Not the Illinois town that shares a name) it has become a favorite vacation town. During the winter holidays it's like stepping into a Dickens' story. Cobblestone streets with one hundred year old, well maintained buildings. One end of the mile or so main street is restaurants, the middle contains shops, and the other end are bars. The Missouri River runs about a block away with a rich Lewis and Clark history. That's why I'm thinking a three to four year old vehicle with a strong history of holding it's value. Since parking is an issue I would avoid the pickups like the Tundra. Possibly look at a Jeep Wagoneer or Ford Mustang, possible a Toyota or Honda. You'd be hitting the sweet spot of value. The car depreciates the most at the beginning and end of it's lifespan. So driving it from say 60,000 miles to 75,000 miles would be the most economical. The other option is keeping that one after the move and selling your current car. Did you calculate the cost of an Uber? I know of one Uber driver that has a regular trip "off books" that started after he picked up the same guy a few days in a row.

Basically you have three options. I'm assuming you're trying to be economical here. Your cost of ownership beyond gas and general maintenance will be repairs and depreciation. You could go cheap with a higher mileage, cheaper car, and gamble on repairs. Your initial cost will be lower, but your depreciation with be higher. The second route is a higher quality car that historically holds it's value. The depreciation will be better but you will be tying up more capital. You may find a smaller, independent, dealer willing to do a one year lease on a used car.
