  1. Here's a thought. Why not bring up the next candidate a few days early, let him get comfortable with his surroundings, with his teamates? Maybe KW, OZ, Coop, think that will help Rauch.

Make sure to add a firewall and protect the network. I have a couple laptops on my network. I have an all brick home and can work outside so I am certain shooting upstairs would be fine. For the record my connection is via a cablemodem with a Linksys router. I went with the 802.11b It was very easy to set up and works like a charm.
  3. The league knows we are in trouble for a 5th starter. Any other GM is going to hold out just a little longer if KW comes a calling. Is it better for us to overpay with dollars, perhaps picking up more of someone's contract or picking up an overpriced player, or including too much potential in a minor leaguer?
  4. It can only get worse. I'm waiting for the webcam that will monitor the prisoner 24/7.
  5. But thankfully we aren't paying Colon. That would really suck. Non of these guys would have had a chance to be big league pitchers for the day.
  6. This may be the best spot we've put a 5th starter into. He's on close to his regular schedule, he's pitching in a hockey town, we're coming off a win, and he doesn't have to worry about the closer.
  7. I hope he comes around for y'all. His fastball was flatter than the pan handle. I believe in two seasons he had one 1-2-3 safe for us. It was certainly less than 5. Great with the fans and media. He'll sign autographs until his arm falls off, hey maybe that was the problem. BTW his nickname here is Billy Botch :fyou
  8. Ozzie get's his man. One of the things I thought of when the trade was announced was how well did Oz know the minor league system. Being a middle infielder, I assumed Oz kknew the guy and liked him.
  9. Not to anyone in particular, when you say a player is "worth" a percentage of a payroll, does that mean 10% of the Expos, Cubs, and/or Yankees? That would indicate we are no longer looking at total dollars. A "10% guy" would be worth what $4 mil to the Expos, $8.5 mil to the Cubs, and $20 mil to the Yankees. It seems like we are mixing to different things. If a player is deserving of a $40/5 contract, that means the Expos would have to gulp hard make him a starter, and sign the check if the want him, and the Yankmees could have the guy riding the pine. From the player persepective, should he value a $5 mil per year offer from the Expos as better than a $10 mil per year offer from the Yankees because it's a higher percentage of their payroll? I believe the debate should be in two steps. 1. The player is worth X dollars over X years. 2. Should team Y invest that much of their payroll in that player? To start at what percentage is someone worth, look that his current teams payroll, and then determine a dollar amount is crazy.
  10. No he's still logged on, reading the index. What's fun is figuring out his work ISP and sending copies of his posts to their IT department. I hope they aren't Six fans . . .
  11. I hope we didn't ban him. We have so many razor wits here, we could have just cut him to shreds. Please Mr. Zookeeper, let us play with the troll for just a little longer?
  12. Remember when they use to just lock up crazy people and feed them jello. Now we let them log onto the internet.
  13. Well that comment certainly explains why he's a Cubs fan As I've mentioned before, there are some excellent intelligent Cub fans, then there are the idiots like this.

Of all the bands he's been in, Hairbangers has been the most consistently popular. Core seemed like it was doing really well for a while, I was at a couple of their shows, but Bangers has really taken off. A friend of mine saw them in INdiana and was telling me about them. I started cracking up when I realized it was Jeff's band.

  16. According to the article on chisox.com Buerhle bet Koch he (Koch) would not be traded before the all-star break. I wonder what Buerhle based that on?

My cousin plays guitar in Hairbangers aka Jefferson Jackson.

I guess this isn't your idea of fun Hairbangers Ball Not so long ago, bands like Poison, Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe and Skid Row were selling millions of records and playing sold-out arenas across the country. Now, having seen the recent, enormous commercial success of the "Monster Ballads" CD collection and the explosion of VH-1's "Behind The Music", one tribute band has tapped into the nostalgic energy of the "Decade of Decadence" like no other to deliver uncanny live performances and the wildest, never-ending party since Axl Rose was welcoming millions of rabid fans to his rock n' roll jungle. It's called HAIRBANGER'S BALL. And the crazy train has left the station, complete with the monster hair, the tattoos, the leopard print spandex, pyrotechnic masterpieces and all the make-up you can handle.
  19. That Red/White bulls*** isn't right. It just isn't right. There is a least one poster here with a bad heart and it isn't nice to get his hopes up.
  20. I think it really sets the mood for a date, it really says something to the girl, like I've never had a date before.
  21. I keep seeing Mel Gibson stacking a million dollars on a table and say I'm not going to pay a ransom.
  22. My guess there was a full blown, everyone on duty, attempt to find him and mount a rescue.
