QUOTE (bmags @ May 10, 2016 -> 02:44 PM) The whole 45 first half stolen bases for scotty pods was pretty crazy. Probably around this time when a similar game happened where we were trailing or came back to tie. Pods got on base. Stole second. Bunt to third. Driven home. Sox win. It was just automatic with him on the base paths. I had way higher confidence on that team. But, I do feel really good late when Eaton comes up and knowing what comes behind him. I remember that happening. Ozzie-ball. Does anyone remember the game?

The sooner we get an automated strike zone, the better

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ May 11, 2016 -> 10:28 AM) The introduction of instant replay has either made the umpires lazy or they were just not that good to begin with. I'm not sure of the percentage of times calls are overturned, but it's too high. I'm not sure about an automated strike zone, but it has seemed that the strikes zones have gotten bad. If you watch a game with a pitch tracker, you can see a lot of pitches not being called correctly. It would be okay if the calls were consistent, but they're not. You see the same pitch called a ball and a strike a lot, especially the close ones. Maybe it's something they could test in spring training one year, like football did with the extra points. Based on the really small number of calls that are even questioned, including very close plays, I would say it proves the umps are very good. If one in a few hundred gets questioned, that's very good even if it gets overruled. When they are talking an inch off the plate I wonder how far off the plate the graphic shows. We are being fed an enhanced view for entertainment. I wonder how exact they are actually able to detect. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 11, 2016 -> 08:11 AM) If they aren't going to do anything about it, they probably should ban pitch trax. All it does is makes the umpires look bad. And these are the best in the world. It shows just how tough of a job it is. Great point. These are the best in the world. Again, does anyone have evidence how reliable and accurate pitch trax is? -

QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 11, 2016 -> 07:05 AM) Pitch framing catchers would object to this idea. The irony is that officials are most ingrained into baseball versus all of the sports. And yet baseball umpires would be the easiest officials to completely replace with automated technology. The only issues would be plays that would require human review. I'm interested in how you came to that conclusion. -
QUOTE (lostfan @ May 11, 2016 -> 07:00 AM) I had this happen last fall. Long story but the parents didn't want to take their kids to practice, and one kids mom in particular didn't want to come to practice on Saturdays. She got mad because her son learned nothing. Lol how's that my fault? First of all I'm sorry I didn't turn your wack ass son into Bryce f***ing Harper, but secondly how am I supposed to teach him anything if you only are at practice an hour and 15 minutes per week, until the sun goes down? They were looking for an excuse and a scapegoat so they could pull their kid out of the league.

How do you envision this being implemented? A light goes on somewhere? Everyone turns to the scoreboard? Is the technology really that accurate? We accept that it is because it gives us this really nice graphic. I wonder just how accurate it truly is. I would have a lot more questions before being able to get 100% behind the idea. But I do think it is something that should be seriously looked at. Especially if it speeds up play. -
QUOTE (lostfan @ May 10, 2016 -> 07:50 PM) Earlier today the kids I coach were doing warmup throws this kid says "I'm definitely not pairing with Richard" (my son) standing right in front of me. Then he turns around and says "coach, did you bring your glove so I can work on pitching?" I said "no my shoulder is sore. Not today." Then while he was still looking I threw a ball from the dugout to a kid in deep center field about 150 feet away (to those kids it may as well be a thousand feet). I mean... I was going to but you just insulted my son right in front of me, so f*** off little dude. That was super petty of me to do but I don't even feel bad. Lmao. I wasn't wrong though. Be a better teammate. I had about half my team not show up to practice last night. A trend that keeps getting worse. Our competitive season is over, but this is also a class that they earn credit for. Some of the kids made up really lame excuses which was basically just lying to me. So f*** it. No more leaving for the course at 3:15 if half won't show up. They can sit in the classroom until the end of the school day at 4:05 and be stuck in all that s***ty end of the day traffic. Yeah, it's good to be coach.

I wonder if the airlines offered two options, one with the current security levels or one like the good old days of just walk on, which flights would fill up faster.

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 9, 2016 -> 12:10 PM) If you're looking for an authentic Texas experience I contend that you'll find it in greater purity and abundance in places like Amarillo, Lubbock and Wichita Falls than Dallas or Houston. But hey that's just me. I think the only real interesting parts of Texas are the desolate western plains and the Mexico/Texas hybrid cities in the south. If you are looking for a stereotype Texas experience the panhandle or stretches of west Texas may fill the bill. But a state 5 times larger than Illinois offers a much wider experience than those outdated cliches. I'm not certain what nightlife Dallas is missing. From bars to concerts, teams playing every major and minor sport, museums, theater, what can't you do in Dallas that you can in other cities? -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 9, 2016 -> 10:14 AM) That is an absurd waste of cost for an issue that impacts like .01% of the population. This isn't a problem. This is a giant waste of time and the fact that people are wasting all this breath is absurd. It speaks to the power of the individual in our society.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 6, 2016 -> 11:55 AM) Niagara Falls is everything it is made out to be for a honeymoon. Catskills? Poconos? How about the Dells? BTW, FWIW, save money on the wedding and honeymoon and buy a house sooner rather than later.

I was just thinking doesn't releasing Danks put the team in a more honest negotiating position. Here is the spot for you. Look at the standings. Don't look at our offer. Look at the standings and here is your spot in the location. Why are you looking at the cash? I told you don't look at the cash, look at the standings. . . -
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ May 6, 2016 -> 01:47 PM) Yah, Lincecum is exciting in name only. I'd take a flyer if he were cheap, but someone will overpay. This may be one of those pitching for glory and excitement, not a paycheck.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 6, 2016 -> 11:43 AM) To me it seems like something easy for the players union to concede on, and trade for something else in negotiations. None of those kids are union members, and won't be for the better part of a decade, if ever. I'm wondering if all the owners are in agreement.
