  1. Which is probably the #1 reason baseball franchises have grown in value. If you are a Sox fan you're not going to go see them play the Angels. But if you are an Angels fan you will. So Sox fans who reach their limit can Find a new team to follow. There's even one in town. But any could do. Give up going to MLB games unless you move or travel. If someone still loves being at a baseball game, but going isn't an option, and lives in Chicago, do they go to a Cubs game? Drive to Milwaukee? They are still engaging with a MLB team.
  2. I failed as an English teacher with that question structure. Lol I think Eddy has a point. We want "our" team to be trying. Who cares about the other.
  3. Here's something I thought of. If you were for example a Padres fan. You decide to go see a game that weekend. You look at the schedule and see they are playing the White Sox. Do you decide to pass because the Sox are horrible and not trying and you only want to watch MLB level teams who are trying? Are the Sox hurting attendance for everyone?
  4. I was moving in that direction and really enjoying college sports. Then it became professional with the same problems.
  5. It really is how someone defines "not trying". Not trying by the front office to me would be no trades, keep the entire coaching staff in place, draft a few players based on what they read here. Trying would be rebuilding the farm system and hiring new coaches and managers. But that's just my definition.
  6. You don't think the players are trying? Or the front office isn't trying?
  7. I'm trying to understand what games are worth your time watching. Even if somehow I knew it's a blow out in advance it is still with my time. I'm trying to understand your time.
  8. I've been to plenty of games that ended with a team winning by six or more runs. Are those not worth your time? Or only when your team wins?
  9. I've gone to many MLB games were I didn't have a dog in the fight. Because of the stadium, the history, a few players on either roster I wanted to see, or I just love the game. I've also lived in an area that only had independent league. Another area that has AA and college. While the Sox are the worst team in MLB baseball it's still MLB baseball.
  10. "I'm arresting you for public intoxication" " I just got here!" "It's 2025. No one walks into a Sox game sober"
  11. I'm going to pay more attention to the system. I've never really done that in any sustained or meaningful way and I always enjoy learning new stuff.
  12. That makes a lot of sense to me. I'm certainly not going to over offer to the White Sox who arguably need Robert less than the Dodgers need him.
  13. True. Would you agree the Sox have been listening to inquiries for a year or so?
  14. I think we can all agree that Chicago is not the place if one of the big questions marks about a player is their avoiding injuries. The only question becomes how freakish will the injury be?
  15. I agree. But the Dodgers aren't going to tell the Sox that. At some point one team will want a deal more and they will lose the trade.
  16. I believe the same thing. So here we have a deal that seems so perfect for each team. Yet it's not getting done. So are both these guys just bad at their jobs?
  17. I'm speaking as the Dodgers and theorizing what Getz is up against in making a trade.
  18. So do you think they called Getz and he turned them down?
  19. I could imagine the Dodgers saying That's not how we project him. We are thinking he's a platoon piece at best probably just a bench piece at worst. How about these other two lower ranked prospects? You don't need him this season. Everyone knows you're a few years away from respectability.
  20. If I'm the Dodgers I'm not calling the Sox about a deal. I'm looking for a WS caliber player and I have serious concerns after his last season. But if Getz should call I'll take the call and offer much less than what's being proposed here. He's damaged goods with the stink of failure still clinging to his glove and bat.
  21. In this case construction fences. I agree. I appreciate when a locality of any size had a master plan.
  22. Forty years ago I would have been psyched and stoked to read how totally tubular our farm system was. Thirty years ago I would have thought we were da bomb. Twenty years ago I'd be hyped Ten years ago I'd be thinking we're being catfished. Today I'm thinking these rankings are sus and definitely shady.
  23. And all they other GMs would take every deal you offer?
