QUOTE (Wanne @ May 14, 2009 -> 01:20 AM) Maybe this was a subtle message to Walker as well... Nah, I'm guessing the entire organization, including Ozzie Jr. and the reporter, knows that.

Did Ozzie really fart on the umpire today?
Texsox replied to sin city sox fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
finally his mouth and ass are in harmony It would be difficult to prove intent. I can't see how they could ring him up when it can so easily be called an accident. -
I missed the number of ways to get to first. I also missed an easy one about the runner on first. I did not see the difference between tagging the runner first or second. And the balk, but I just misread the question. I'll admit a couple were guesses on my part. I only *knew*, with absolute certainty, 4 or 5.

The ERA 3 earned in 17 outs. 3/17=.176 * 27 = 4.76 Earned runs divided by number of outs multiplied by 27 for a full nine innings.

QUOTE (BearSox @ May 13, 2009 -> 07:53 PM) I really don't care anymore. I used to be strongly against the legalization of any drugs, but what's the use? Just legalize everything and let the idiots put whatever they want into their bodies. Users are still gonna use, but if it's gonna be like that, why not ruin all the drug dealers and the drug trade with mexico and make money off of it. It's a free country, and if someone wants to blow snow or take some acid, let the idiot do it. Just to clarify a point. The majority of the hard narcotics trade is through Mexico, not with Mexico. Mexico spends a lot of money trying to keep Americans from connecting with their South American suppliers. They do this to keep the aid that the US sends their way, and to continue to be a "partner". If the US didn't have so much drug use, they could, in theory, spend less on their drug law enforcement.

7/10 because the test is hard, and in 30+ years have not seen some of the scenarios nor read the rule book. Missed an easy one. And have a complaint about another. Oops, thought through it and realize my mistake. Great quiz.

GOP, RNC to rebrand Democrats as 'Socialists'
Texsox replied to HuskyCaucasian's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 13, 2009 -> 01:31 PM) It sure worked for the Democrats over the last eight years... Yes it did, but I'm going to guess the Republicans are smart enough to stop. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 13, 2009 -> 12:38 PM) Its been going on forever. I recently saw a History Channel show where FDR was secretly working with Churchill, before he was in charge, about how to publicly be against getting the US into WWII, while trying to figure out a way to sway opinion and get us into the war. It was an amazing breach of protocall and of what the American people wanted. Exactly. I imagine we didn't want to know what Franklin was really doing in France

GOP, RNC to rebrand Democrats as 'Socialists'

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 13, 2009 -> 11:19 AM) Well, I think when you start designing a system penalizing someone for having money, all while not holding any expectations to low income people that receive that money, you're effectively just taking a chunk of money from person A and giving it to person B. Thus I think the phrase is entirely accurate. The penalty they have is living in a society with world class roads, defense, health systems, education, and much more. -
I though a thread about switching parties would be interesting. Even better if we could keep it reasonable and without bashing. For me to vote more Republican, the party would need to Return to pre Reagan fiscal conservatism, balanced budgets for example. Stop the activist judges rhetoric Stop blaming the media and trying to be a victim Support a guest worker program that help American business and treats the workers fairly without offering budget breaking benefits.

GOP, RNC to rebrand Democrats as 'Socialists'
Texsox replied to HuskyCaucasian's topic in The Filibuster
I love the whole redistribution of wealth concept. Do we really want to live in a country where the budget is based on the poorest taxpayers and what they can afford? Do we really want to live in a society that allows people to starve? Stop financial aid for education? You earn more, you pay more in taxes, you live better. When we stop public health programs that target low income people, TB rebounds and guess what, the wealthy catch it also. Nice phrase, but meaningless when analyzed. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 13, 2009 -> 09:14 AM) They learned this from the Democrats who spent an entire eight years labeling every Republician as a Bush clone, and now are calling them all Rush clones. I didn't see any protests then... And you won't. We've accepted labels regardless of accuracy. Liberal media, known lier, activist judges, etc. Sure does beat actually thinking -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 13, 2009 -> 10:02 AM) Iran did get something out of it... Notice how quickly we went quiet about their nuclear program? It comes up from now and again, but nothing like it did when Iran was leading the violence in Iraq. Like I said, nothing in fact to base this on, but I think those two things are connected. I do not think I want to know some of the deals we have made.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 13, 2009 -> 09:28 AM) I have said that I believe we have been dealing through the backdoor with Iran for a few years now, based on how the violence in Iraq just sort of stopped out of no where. I don't have any evidence, just a feeling. violence in Iraq or Iran stopped?

Lillibridge the leader to go back to Charlotte
Texsox replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 13, 2009 -> 09:17 AM) Yeah, the Sox were only 5th in the AL in runs scored last year. WALKER HAS SKATED BY WITH ZERO RESULTS. Don't let the facts get in the way of a good bashing. Walker has been the hitting coach since the middle of 2003. In his 5 full seasons of being the coach the offense in rank of runs scored 2004-3rd 2005-9th 2006-3rd 2007-14th 2008-5th During the same timeframe, Don Cooper, who walks on water and the team ERA ranking 2004-12th 2005-tied for 1 2006-10th 2007-12th 2008-6th One is bowed down to and the other is slammed mercilessly. If you look at the results, things may appear like they should be a little different. Please don't blame USCF as the reason as White Sox pitchers generally have better splits at home. OK, add Cooper to the list. Not certain where you picked up the ZERO RESULTS from? -
Lillibridge the leader to go back to Charlotte
Texsox replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The two biggest enigmas in Chicago sports are Mr. Walker and Mr. Pulford. No one has milked jobs longer, on less results, than those two. Well maybe Shipps, but at least he entertains us. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 13, 2009 -> 08:32 AM) He looks like a guy who is trying to justify a long term contract extention with every perfect pitch. He needs to get it through his head to get it over the plate early and let his stuff take care of the rest, just like last year. Good point. It seems so easy from here, yet so many players, of all abilities, have that same struggle after signing a contract.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 12, 2009 -> 01:28 PM) That's not a default, that is a variable rate instrument. Its a known outcome - nothing to insure. As you mentioned earlier, there should be nothing to insure here, so we are kind of grasping at straws. I was about to suggest it would be like buying hurricane insurance in Illinois. There are only two things to insure here, the principle and/or the interest. It seems to me that it makes more sense for there to be a secondary market built around the interest than the principle.

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ May 12, 2009 -> 02:15 PM) They have Kathleen's body, whose murder is the one he's been indicted for. That's right. He's killed so many allegedly

QUOTE (longshot7 @ May 12, 2009 -> 01:05 PM) I know a little about the case... it's pretty solid, that's why they took 18 months before making the arrest. They have no witness and no body. I'm not certain how solid that can ever be.
