  1. I'm so fed with this crap franchise. Every day we figure out something else that sucks about it. When was the last bit of good news? Find one positive thread in the past six months. It's brutal. Owner? Worse in all sports GM? Couldn't get a job running a Dollar Store Manager? The Royals rejected him Today look at LF, tomorrow it will be something else. But it will be bad.
  2. Who would care? JR leaves with his team and someone else will move in. Anyone else would be better.
  3. Thank you for another reason to hate this franchise. What few positive thoughts I've had for this team have finally been extinguished. I wish he'd just move the damn team, it's an embarrassment to the city. Fucking loser franchise.
  4. Burger is also a great example of acquiring the best athletes possible at the time and trading them for the necessary pieces in the future. It's nice to have a surplus to trade from instead of always digging a hole to fill a hole.
  5. Divisions and leagues are arbitrary and based on the days of bus rides and business interests. Now TV and time zones. Head to head playoff wins is more meaningful than we beat these other teams more than you did so we are better.
  6. It would be amazing if we actually were successful with 25% of our prospects. I'd be shocked if three in the entire system eventually earned veteran status. So that's about 1%.
  7. One league. Balanced Schedule. Winner takes all. No playoffs. Playoffs make the regular season meaningless. Once we say that's not ideal, it's just a matter of how fast do you want to eliminate teams versus keeping them around playing. Baseball would be better right now if the teams below .500 went away and allowed the quality teams to play. Call it an expanded regular season if you don't want to call them playoffs.
  8. 1. Yes, but it is dropping quickly the past two seasons. I'm guessing there is more bias away from TA. Right not he is "all hat and no cattle" on and off the field. 2. Of course there are racist people in the world. So that's an easy statement to make. But that doesn't make everyone who sees someone instigate a fight and not like it a racist. I believe I can criticize his two family lifestyle as well without bringing racist. 3. There are so many factors why Americans aren't playing baseball. Some are as simple as real estate space to play. Others are more subtle. I doubt any come into the discussion here. 4. Interesting what you're seeing in the fight also.
  9. 2023 If Cleveland in - not sham If Yankees in - total sham and absolutely ludicrous?
  10. How do these writers keep their jobs? Hahn isn't smart enough to actually acquire quality prospects. He found the "looks good but doesn't work" leftovers from other teams. They will all be busts by 2026. I don't need evidence. I don't ever need to lay eyes on them. I don't need Bill James to run numbers for me. If I always write JR and Company will fail next I will be correct 95% of the time. And how far did his MLB roster fall in a year or two?
  11. The villagers are coming at you with pitch forks and torches after decades of you pissing them off. They want blood. Empty promises of we'll do better in the future just ain't fooling them any more. Do you run and make new friends in another town or do you do the things the villagers want you to do. Fire all your employees and sell the team.
  12. Neither. The Competitive Balance Tax is based on the average annual cost of the contract. So if a player has a 5/100 deal it's factored at $20 a year no matter what the actual pay is for that year.
  13. The choice is to just buy out his contract at $1.5 mil a year for ten years or pay him $15 mil next year. A zero interest loan on $15 mil is quite handy and saves the team money they can waste on other players. So it actually makes a lot of sense to just buy out his contract. Liam at 85% is better than Santos at 100%.
  14. Damnit. You have to post a warning that it could make a Sox fan smile.
  15. Too much work and things left to chance. Injuries, affairs, it's just too hard to guarantee a good team. Easier to move.
  16. Would you trust the Sox organization with your development and career? I can't imagine being a young guy with a dream of playing in the majors and winding up in the Sox organization. On one hand you probably aren't being blocked by an All Star, future HoF, level player. On the other hand the organization hasn't developed anyone in a long time. Do you listen to them? Hire a private coach? Trust? And how can you be a coach in this environment? You have to realize any veteran is going to be rightfully skeptical about any changes you suggest.
  17. We really don't save much money after subscribing to a few channels. Amazon makes it so easy to add channels.
  18. Nashville is a great city. Mexico City is a larger market and would attract national attention in a country where baseball is popular.
  19. We cut the cord. Only streaming.
  20. "now anybody could have him". I hope he grabs the opportunity. Here's the real issue for him. Would you trust the Sox coaches regarding anything? Pitch selection? Technique? Training? He's really screwed here.
  21. Deposit, deposit, deposit. Add bodies, the more the merrier.
  22. I agree. I also realize the early casts had a much lower bar to surpass. There really wasn't anything like it on mainstream TV. I'm so old that I went from We'll meet you at the bar after SNL to I'm going to stay awake to watch the end of SNL to I'll stream it later. I'm going to bed
  23. I guarantee nothing will change while JR is Chairman. Both of our guarantees really don't mean much. It can get worse™
