  1. it's working! twins record since kaibosh put on them. 0-1
  2. i've poked fun at joe for his early season failings. you know he is going good when he is hitting line shots to lf and rf gaps. when he tries to pull everything with that uppercut swing he will struggle. hopefully for the sox's sake he will continue staying on the ball and driving it to the gaps.
  3. i would love to see Crawford Huff Baldelli in a sox uni. in that order. not gonna happen anytime soon though.
  4. i don't think they are that bad looking but any baseball jersey that is a pullover looks like it belongs on a little leaguer. button-ups>>>pullovers
  5. I'm sick and tired of the Twins and thier come from behind win asses. It's time to pull the proverbial horseshoe from out thier backside. So to the twins: NOONAN! NOONAN! NOONAN! MISSIT MISSIT!
  6. His name is Livan, not Livian. He would be a good pickup, Livan. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=5734
  7. hawk would tell you its because of the big three, and then he would throw in a "let's see how many games billy beane wins when they don't have three stud pitchers". of course beane drafted those pitchers... hawk might then say something about "don't tell me what you hit, tell me when you hit it", he would then convince you why joe crede is a future 8 time all star. i really do love hawk though.
  8. actually our attendance problems can be directly attributed to texas sox fans not pulling thier weight. i will post a graph at a future time that shows this correlation.
  9. wow, that is a very interesting trade idea indeed. i doubt the astros would do it though, unless they could sign maggs to a long term deal. i just want to say that i read all of your posts and they are all well thought out and very interesting. have a good day and go SOX!
  10. this poll is flawed because there is no "win the season series vs. the cubs" answer. obviously this is what is most important.
  11. we should trade maggs, crede & prospects to houston for morgan ensberg, wade miller and brad lidge. the sox will then meet houston in the world series. it's what it is, and it is what it is. MURCEY!!!
  12. abreu has been better, is better now, and will most likely continue to be better than maggs. and that is not even taking into consideration he is left-handed and makes less $$. but there is no point arguing this on a white sox board.
  13. honestly those threads don't bother me at all. i don't understand why people take them so personally. baseball is pretty simple, when you succeed you are cheered, when you fail you are booed. does it really matter either way? the bottom line is we all want the sox to win and the players are the ones that do the winning and losing. if players want to be cheered when they succeed than the flip side is they are going to be called out when they do not perform. that is just the way it works. so someone posts cotts sucks or valentin sucks or koch sucks, it's usually just a post out of frustration when they fail. why get into a whole fifty post thread about it? when it comes down to it it's not as if we are even talking about real people , we're talking about performers, like actors . and it's a critique of their performance. i honestly don't see the big hub bub.
  14. here's my thoughts on the closer situation. can we win the division with koch as the closer? probably. does anyone feel comfortable with koch as the closer going into the playoffs against a boston or yankees or angels? i don't. but does anyone currently in the bullpen? not to me. shingo has been great but closing is a different animal than set up or middle relief. face it, the sox have never paid for an elite closer. if they did foulke would still be here. unfortionately we are probably gonna have to make due with what we got. hopefully someone whether it be koch or shingo or even pollitte gets hot at the end of the year and is able to close games in the playoffs.
  15. guilty by association i guess. i don't get it either. i did get a good laugh when he named mike north and doug buffone as examples of knowledgable baseball guys. north, i'll give him some latitude with, but buffone? lmao.
  16. i'll believe it when i see players leave the team via free agency. i don't suppose the reason nash would want to play in toronto is because he is canadian. yeah it's the owners fault the team isn't playing well. it's not even worth talking about because i have a better chance of winning the power ball twice before mark cuban becomes owner of the sox. but even with sam smith's article i would take cuban every day of the week and twice on sunday over reinsdorf. no question.
  17. a good argument can be made pro-reinsdorf or anti-reinsdorf. i have my own thoughts but they are things that have been harped on over and over, so i won't even get into that. here is the thing. jerry reinsdorf is the Chairman of a Board of Directors. He is not the owner of the club per say. he is one of many owners or shareholders. it isn't too hard to find out who these other guys are. i believe they have a plaque outside the stadium and i think they are listed on the official website. i beleive that reinsdorf and einhorn are the majority shareholders and as such have certain priveledges (sp?) from what i understand, and i may be wrong on this but even if reinsdorf wanted to sell his share in the team he would have to sell to one of the other shareholders. in fact i don't think that any of the shareholders can sell thier shares to someone who is not a current shareholder. anyway i guess my point is if reinsdorf doesn't want to be the "face" of white sox ownership there is probably a way for him to step down/sell some of his stake in the club. but if he is going to put himself out there as chairman, and pretty much be looked at as the "owner" of the club than he should be more accessable and be working harder to shed a more positive light on the franchise. i think he has failed at that. but of course that is just IMO.
  18. props to you for the space balls quote.
  19. i watched the game last nite and i heard the interview this afternoon. i don't think he was insulting fans. i only think that he didn't make it clear exactly who he was referring to, and think he could of chose his words better, that's about it. i don't think it's that big a deal, especially if you are a familiar with hawk's style.
  20. the exchange wasn't hateful though, by the end they were both laughing. it's pretty obvious that hawk has some "issues" with certain members of the media. although i don't think it's fair to lump boers and bernsy in with a mariotti. that's fightin words right there. hawk even admitted that he listened to the show and said that they're funny, they just don't know baseball. hawk made it very clear he was talking about the certain media guys and not the fans, although i don't think he made that clear with his statements during the game. i'm sure this will come up tonite during the pre-game or game. i love hawk, and i like listening to boers and bernsy. but honestly i take what they say with a grain of salt. hawk is a homer, i like that. b & b have to come up with things to talk about for four hours. given the nature of their respective jobs where everything you say can and will be broadcast over and over and over, you are going to trip up every now and again. anyway, the whole thing was great radio, i only wish bernstien was there as well.
  21. this is priceless!! Hawk vs. Terry
  22. I think a few people would be happy to change the name of this site from soxtalk to cottstalk. lmao
