  1. QUOTE (Tex @ May 15, 2011 -> 03:03 PM) I know it is unscientific, but at more than half of the people that responded have done the same or better than Williams at trades. What does that tell you? I'll bet that way more than half would agree they can manage better than Ozzie. No wonder the team is doing so poorly. Hell, they wouldn't even be good posters here. I hate these types of statements, jabs, or whatever you want to call this crap.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 15, 2011 -> 03:01 PM) I woke up in a police station. Damn, hopefully not too much trouble?
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 15, 2011 -> 02:33 PM) I think I'd guess that Ozzie thinks he's the most important, irreplaceable player in his lineup. If it wasn't for Pierre we'd be in 4th place and be 16-24!!1!!
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 15, 2011 -> 02:31 PM) What he knows that we don't is what Ozzie thinks of Pierre. I think we all know that, but we aren't in a position of power to really influence it.
  5. That guy is a specimen.
  6. Sox tickets arrived this weekend, can't wait for the 19th when I bring 20 good friends to the Patio Party and game!! Beer, friends, Sox, no matter the record it's gonna be a great day! Oh, and does anybody know the special "gift" they give you? I got a slip in the tickets package saying I can redeem a special gift at the sales booth on the gameday.
  7. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 14, 2011 -> 03:43 PM) That's very cool. So it just pickes up 3G/4G signals? It's gotta be transferring via bluetooth, not actually getting 3G itself.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 13, 2011 -> 03:35 PM) I already did Steve, I was just asking because I trust the members of this forum more than Google.? My name is Ron Burgundy?
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 13, 2011 -> 02:47 PM) WTF? The higher ups? Told him to do something? He basically went off to broadcast for the Nationals for a few years and then quasi-retired. He doesn't need to be coming back to broadcast games if he doesn't want to. Where on Earth did you come up with the idea that he's some sort of slave to the Sox corporation? Are you just at the point of assuming that anyone and everyone that ever associates with the team is that way? I think he meant Hawk would shut his mouth and be a company man.
  11. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 13, 2011 -> 02:37 PM) I find it hilarious how upset people are that Jeff Gray is no longer on our roster. Yeah, yeah, I get that he's outpitched Pena, and that Pierre is PE#1 and Mark Teahen is still on the roster etc...but I still find this comical. I find it comical when people go crazy over one loss, but when you are playing .350 baseball than it is fitting.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 13, 2011 -> 09:35 AM) Me quick want slow! Wait, that's Indian. I saw a guy wearing a "Mr. Manager" shirt in Marrakech, probably the most epic thing (right above seeing a Joe Crede White Sox player t-shirt in Berlin of all things).
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 13, 2011 -> 01:34 PM) Man Gray went from being an afterthought when he got called up, to a major leaguer. No one expected him to do anything but be awful when he was here, and he goes out and is really effective. Crazy. And gets DFA'd, lack of accountability strikes again (trademarked by Milkman)!!!
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 13, 2011 -> 01:30 PM) It's a common perception nowadays that wins mean nothing. I don't know how this perception took hold, but it's ridiculous. To be 0-6 is embarrassing. If he actually deserved the 0-6, then yes. Otherwise, I think most fans wised up and realized that too many external factors apply to the stat to really judge it as an individual stat.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 13, 2011 -> 01:24 PM) The good thing is...it does appear that the Hawk realized he'd done something wrong and apologized and made amends. That's something we approve of in this country. As much as an apology is appreciated, I will still question a person's judgement and character when they make comments like that. Almost everyone slips up at some point, but it really does call into question on what type of person they are if they make comments like that.
  16. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ May 13, 2011 -> 01:15 PM) Back in the day, when the Sox played in Milwaukee, Hawk and Wimpy would often stay at the Abbey on Lake Geneva where I worked at the front desk. They liked to play golf in the area. I worked nights and checked the both of them out several times early in the morning. Wimpy was especially nice and I talked with at great length one particular morning. I told him I was an avid Sox fan and that got the ball rolling. I told him how much I always liked a commercial for Sox games he did for channel 44 back when he was playing (he did a Dracula impression, I think the promo may have been for bat day). It was a classic. He talked about his kids and I talked about mine and he offered me tickets to that day's game which I declined because 1. I was tired (I was tired all the time for the 15 years I worked there...working nights sucks) and 2. I had to go home and take care of my kids while my wife worked. I always wished I could have taken those tickets. Anyway, Wimpy is one of the nicest guys you could ever want to meet and certainly one of my favorite announcers ever. Wow that's awesome! I used to go to the Abbey after Christmas every year as a kid, I loved it (my parents had their honeymoon there and kept going back because they would get killer deals around Dec. 27th every year).
  17. QUOTE (hawksfan61 @ May 13, 2011 -> 12:32 PM) Yikes. The whole thing between Hawk and Wimpy is pretty low of Hawk, but to call the guy a piece of human garbage? Did he run over your dog or something? It's one thing not to like his announcing, but that doesn't make him a bad guy. IF true, and he actually did make jokes about a man getting molested when that man was a child, then yes, he is a piece of human garbage.

QUOTE (Tex @ May 13, 2011 -> 06:07 AM) http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/money101/lesson9/ Other sources have credit card debt at over $10,000 for the average American. All I know is that I've had an individual credit card since I was 19, and I've made my payments and was responsible with it. Some people will fall back on credit cards to live on debt because of the economy, but others just need to learn to be responsible spenders, which really isn't that hard. I wouldn't blame the tool, rather the teacher in this case.

  25. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 12, 2011 -> 07:13 PM) 3rd worst ISO in baseball last season (0.41) only ahead of Cesar Izturis and Elvis Andrus, I know he's a leadoff hitter and silly people think this stat doesn't matter for them but that's totally unacceptable. He's currently at 0.28 this season which is the worst in baseball and is on pace for 13 XBH which would be tie Morrie Rath of the 1912 White Sox for the LEAST IN THE HISTORY OF THE GAME in a single season with at least 700 PA (725 instances). Yeah, bad. his 22 last season were the 7th least ever, BTW. To widen the scope a bit: 5,902 times has a player recorded at least 600 PA in a season, only 5 times has someone managed less than 13 XBH and 3 of those were in the oughts. Im just laughing the whole time while reading this post. New low Ozzie, new low.
