QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 02:03 PM) Sad to see Wun Wun go down, but he was awesome until the end. They needed him to carry a tree into battle, would've broken that shield wall easily. -
Trump fired his campaign manager.

QUOTE (Nixon @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 10:51 AM) I must be in the minority, I f***ing hated that episode. 40 some minutes of Jon killing anonymous Bolton dudes. Wildlings/62 good men dying because Sansa inexplicably withheld info. Jon going for the obvious bait. I'm sure in the books Jon's going to get bailed out by the timely intervention of the Vale knights too, but at least it will be because that's as quickly as Sansa could get there. Not because she just decided to keep it to herself cause her f***ing p**** hurt. Eh I get it, it's not ideal, but I'm past the show having to be perfect because it obviously isn't. We got a pretty damn good fight scene, I'm happy with the episode. -
Finally got around to watching Mr. Robot, holy hell that show is f***ing fantastic.

The battlefield cinematics was fantastic. -
QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 09:59 PM) Anyone else here play Rocket League? Been playing it with friends from work for a few months now. Crazy addicting. Yea one of my fave games. Rockey hockey is the best.

Finally got to use the smoker, did ribs on Sunday and they were good but not great. Lots of room for improvement, we also rushed them a bit. Yesterday I did chicken drumsticks and a pork butt. I put a layer of mustard on them then doused in Killer Hogs rub. The drumsticks were really big, but still only took about 3.5 hours and came out amazing, will be doing that again since it was super super easy. The pork butt was only 5.5 lbs so I was hoping for an 8-10 hr cook time, turned into a 15 hour behemoth. It came out really tasty, but could be a bit more tender. If I got it at a restaurant I'd be fine with it, but it's not the best I've had so need to tinker a bit! I've got some turkey legs and a whole chicken to do at some point, but I've got some eating to do in the meantime.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 04:07 PM) Fair enough, but then isn't considering a player's "on-field" value even more hypocritical then completely ignoring the off-field flaws altogether? Michael Jordan was said to be a massive jerkoff. John F Kennedy was an all-time womanizer. People seem to ignore the character flaws when it is convenient for them. Well sure, but that doesn't mean people can't have breaking points. Mine so happen to be domestic violence, rape, murder, etc. Being a jerk is one thing, I probably have a harder time rooting for you/the team if that's the case but 99% of the time doesn't stop me. When Kendrick Nunn plead guilty to beating a woman I was 100% ready to not watch a single game of Illinois basketball until he was out of the program. And it doesn't mean that they aren't perfect people or someone who does amazing things, but if you do something to morally wrong like that then yea, it impacts my ability to cheer for them and the organization that supports that behavior.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 03:48 PM) I dunno, I mean I get that we are all human, but when you say you watch sports for entertainment, one would assume that means because the way they play the sport is entertaining to you. Very rarely, if ever, do these character flaws or terrible deeds manifest themselves in any way on the field. Therefore, it doesn't particularly impact the entertainment value in my mind. In terms of entertainment, I am much more impacted by a player just plain sucking at their sport than if the guy is a dick in his personal life. It's not just the way they play though, if it was then we would never interview the players, never care what charities they are a part of, care what they dress, etc. You may not care about all of this stuff but there's a reason it gets so much publicity, because people do care what they players do outside of the field/court/stadium.
-
QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 03:35 PM) THIS. 100% I watch for entertainment. Are you giving up Johnny Depp movies? How about countless other stars. Do you really take a stand against this stuff or do you just try to morally justify it by saying the right thing. If Reyes his .300 and stole bases and hit doubles you'd be clapping along with all the other fans. Yes, if an actor was exposed for something terrible then I would avoid them for the most part. Not saying I would 100% boycott as I'm sure there would be things that would entice me to watch something they are in but for the most part I would avoid their work. I don't understand why that's such a crazy position.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 02:36 PM) Oh come on Russ, could you possibly pull together two more bizarre examples into one comparison? I'm not meaning to judge anyone. I'm pointing out how ridiculous it is to judge these guys' personal lives. Who knows what these guys do off the field. All we know is what they do on the field. I suppose if you are saying I am judgmental for encouraging others to not be judgmental, then...well I guess you got me there. No I was saying that your judgment of posters was unfair, and I'll stand by that. I use sports for entertainment, if I so deem that my entertainment shouldn't include athletes who beat women then you shouldn't judge that. To me, it's no longer entertaining when it reaches that level, or it sucks a lot of the joy of the game out of it. I'm not saying that I haven't cheered for players who have at some point cheated or done something illegal, but if I find out that they did then it absolutely jades me.
-
Shack you have a problem with people on this board judging what people spend money on but you are now judging posters for not wanting wifebeaters and cheaters on the team...come on man, you're better than that.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 05:33 PM) I just finished Sundays ep...and j thought that was the best episode in a long long time. Certainly best of the season. Guess I'm very much alone here on that. My interest had been waning in the show all together, but that drew me back in. Any reason why? Genuinely curious, maybe I'm too jaded on something and missed a bigger picture. The episode was just missing the punch that it so tried to deliver imo. These big events just fell flat. For example, after Arya kills the waif, and Jaqen is talking to her in the hall, he's like "yup, you are ready now". What? Why? Because you killed the waif? It almost seemed like Jaqen was afraid of her which is nonsense. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 02:39 PM) I don't think there's any set way a bachelor party is supposed to be. When I was in NOLA a few years back we went to a strip club every night we were there but I've also done the party bus and baseball game route, bar crawl, etc. This upcoming weekend we're just doing golf, bar crawl and renting a pontoon for the weekend. And I'm sure when I go back to NOLA in August we'll be back at the strip clubs almost every day. As long as you had a good time I wouldn't worry about what you think you should be doing. I think pretty much everyone has said this, really just matters what the groom to be wants to do.
-
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 02:02 PM) been to a few strip clubs where a bachelor gets called out, he speaks truth. Guess I've never seen it or heard of it before.

Sorry that fell apart a bit, always a struggle to plan that stuff out. I had a whole weekend planned for my brother's BP, Navy Pier dinner cruise on Friday then Milwaukee on Saturday for beer tours, german dinner and bars on water street. Unfortunately, my brother's 2 out of town friends cancelled so it was just 4 of us on the dinner cruise and just me and him in Milwaukee. Felt terrible for him. Also sucked because I ended up paying close to a grand to cover everything since I didn't want my brother to pay. While it may have been a good idea to bring it up to your friend, it's really key for the best man to know exactly what the guy wants. I knew casinos and strip clubs weren't an option, and my brother isn't a big club guy, but he loves beer tours and such so we did that. Me, I hate clubs but love casinos, my dream bachelor party is renting out a cabin somewhere on a lake, getting trashed/swimming/relaxing for a weekend with a casino nearby or on the way to get some gambling in as well. Don't really want strippers at all.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 04:23 PM) Please read the NYPost article. We are all on a list. We are all under siege. They want you dead. They want me dead. They want your mom, dad, sister, brother, kids dead. They want all Americans dead. Kudos to Hillary for calling it radical Islam. I hate her a lot less this week if she shows that kind of leadership. Do you realize it could have been you in that nightclub?? This is our country. Please do 'offend' them if it means us being SAFE. They know we will do nothing cause of PC concerns. And they are plotting their next attack and the next one. And you want them all dead, how's that going? Are they now all going to die just because you want it? No one is saying don't blame radical islam, let's just make sure it's that before saying so. Radical religion is an absolute problem in this world, it kills a lot of people in the US and in other countries and across all religions. We are absolutely in a war against terrorism, and ISIS is a big part of that. But that said, you are saying a lot of stupid s*** right now.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 04:09 PM) Some newspaper agrees with Greg. I challenge you all to read this and take off the PC hat and FIGHT THESE MOTHERf***ERS who have ruined our country. We are ALL at risk every single day of our lives. We are all on ISIS kill lists, people. http://www.feedspot.com/?dadi=1#feed/f_423...=43114937540794 Yes, you could die at any moment. But it is highly unlikely it will be from a terrorist attack.
-
What? How did you misinterpret it for that? The concern was that it was a hatecrime and not a radical islam action. The FBI isn't even sure yet, they think it was based on religion but they are still investigating. s***, they closed a file on him years back, clearly they didn't feel it was worthwhile continuing a case on him. Essentially, a lot of people didn't want to call this a radical islam attack before knowing if it was actually that and not just a straight hate crime. Either way, it's a terrible tragedy. Whether it's religion or personal hate against gays it's just awful. BTW, anyone who thinks muslims are the only ones to think this way (and not saying anyone has actively said that here yet), the Westboro church group has come out and said it was an act of God. Crazies going to be crazy.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 02:21 PM) Jon Snow now has his army as well which is why there was no battle at River Run What army? Does not look like the Tully soldiers were allowed to leave for the North. The previews for next week looks to show Jon/Sansa fighting over including Baelish/the Vale. -
Streaming should be fine at that level, if anyone is playing games online at the same time then you should upgrade.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 10:46 AM) Who cares? If you don't like what he talks about, just ignore him. I think he talks about the Royals a lot too, but they're relevant to the content of this forum and it isn't offensive or anything like that. Just my opinion. Because it clutters up a White Sox board, especially when originally posted in PHT and mods constantly have to move threads to Diamond Club. Caufield, stick to 1 Royals thread for all these larger posts. Use the AL central catch all for tid bits. If people want to read your Royal posts they'll know where to look.
