I have zero problem with it, it's their job and they just caught a big break. The horror.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 02:51 PM) Damn it's nice to have the AD's office excited about sports again: That's really cool to see the moment.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 01:21 PM) Pull in Goodwin and Scruggs. Then i'll BE REAL happy. #don'tgetgreedy. If we get those 2 I'll buy season tickets.

I absolutely think Goodwin was going elsewhere without Tilmon at Illinois, but no way does JT let him go someplace else.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 12:16 PM) Werner/Piper saying on the premium board theyou have a bunch of content/articles re: Tilmon they're about to release but can't yet. Have to imagine they're just waiting for him to make it official and he'll announce it through them. I'm surprised we haven't heard about a press conference or something for Tilmon, while his recruitment hasn't been a loud one like Cliff's I'd still be surprised by a "quiet" announcement.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 11:13 AM) Having seen Tilmon in person at LaLu, this is a big get for Illinois. The kid is good. Illinois also has only 2 true frontcourt players next year, he's an absolute must for Groce at this point.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 10:08 AM) Have you seen all the Illinois writers though saying Tilmon to Illinois though? Werner, Piper, and Tate are all hearing great things that he will commit. Obviously be skeptical, but it's definitely positive. I think if we get Tilmon, that definitely helps with Goodwin. If we get both Tilmon and Goodwin, that helps big time with Scruggs. Others are Verge, Theo John, Tim Frazier, Terrance Lewis who I wouldn't mind either I'm too jaded after the past few years, I'll believe he's attending Illinois when he signs an NLOI and Groce is still coach on reporting day. That said, it is fun to think of what the class could look like with Tilmon jumping on board this early, makes Groce's job soooo much easier to sell Goodwin/Scruggs/etc to come as well.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 09:56 AM) Hope the rumors are true. Get these guys in then get a real coach to lead them to some wins. If Groce signs a class of Williams, Pickett, Tilmon, Goodwin, Scruggs then he won't be going anywhere. That's about the best recruiting job an Illinois coach has done in a LONG time. Odds of that are slim though, and like I said I still doubt there is much merit to Tilmon committing to Illinois and especially today of all days.

Rumors swirling about Tilmon going to commit to Illinois, I'm finding it hard to believe though.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 03:13 PM) No way Baelish would join up with that team. That's a downgrade from the squad he's currently on with the North and Riverlands, and miles below Team Dany. Also, Euron is a can. Baelish at this time doesn't have a squad, so far he hasn't been able to convince Sansa and Jon was just named King of the North, not really fitting into his plans. And I take it you mean that Euron looks tough on the outside but doesn't have much on the inside? -

A discussion a friend and I were having centered around Baelish and what he was going to do now. His play for Sansa has failed thus far, and he may have burned that bridge too much to get what he really wants. So what's he going to do? He won't ever truly back down so I think he'll be ready to scheme the power of the Vale elsewhere (not sure if he will be able to but he'll try). And that brings me to Cersei, she's all along right now with enemies from Highgarden, Dorne, and the North (not to mention Dany coming to town soon). So she most likely will start looking for new allies, so does she make a play for Baelish and the Vale? What about Euron? Those forces would give her a fighting chance, probably not enough still but it would make it a real fight. So... Cersei Euron Baelish vs Dany Highgarden Dorne Yara/Asha -
Doing a test brisket (first one and promised my parents I'd make one for them when they're in town next weekend) and a smaller pork shoulder tonight. Having friends over for beer and a BBQ lunch tomorrow to test it all out. Feeling more confident on the pulled pork this time, knowing a bit more about the stall and other nuances definitely helps. Last time I did a wet brine with salt, water and molasses, this time I'm doing a dry brine (on both brisket and pork). Giving them each a full 24 hours of brine time, then throwing on a mustard base and rub an hour before I put them in the smoker. Can't wait to see how they turn out! Finished product, the pulled pork was top5 ever for me. The brisket was really good, but I want to tinker more with it.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 02:29 PM) I don't understand, why would he laugh? It's the real world. I read it as there is a specific reason why they didn't go to NY and that was a cover, but yea let's keep being salty.

We are 2 games over .500 right now so yes, we are winning at this time.

That was one of the worst articles I've ever read.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 01:11 PM) Yep, no problem. Unfortunately Amazon only has a few series that are worth watching. But it's nice to get through a season of a show on a plane ride or two. They have a decent list: Classic HBO shows (I've watched Sopranos and Rome on there as I like their platform more than HBONow) Justified Mr. Robot Those are among the ones I've watched recently and are just coming to my head immediately.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 03:37 PM) Or maybe they are interested in having interns that are more focused on the company/work and not on the fairness of not being able to wear tennis shoes over dress shoes? Maybe the managers immediately knew these interns were worthless and not there for the right reasons? I'm not sure why these people need to be treated with puppy gloves. Then if I was an exec I'd again have a talk with the intern director/intern managers, are you really saying a large group of interns were so easily identifiable as bad employees? Why did we hire them? Why did we waste time and effort in even bringing them in? How do we expect this to reflect on future intern hiring?
-
QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 03:30 PM) Why does the employer need to waste time/energy/money explaining something so basic? It's a place of work, not a dorm room. Apparently they do need to explain it as employees were breaking the rules. Now I'm not saying that is an excuse for someone else to feel that they can do the same but it sounds like the company should fire more employees then instead of reviewing something as "basic" as dress code rules.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 03:10 PM) Thing is the petition thing is pretty juvenile. Again ... those things never work. Every once in a while somebody thinks it's a good idea to pass around a protest and have everybody sign it, then you deliver it to management and wait for the bombs to fall. It's like "you had time to organize this protest when you could have been working?" Etc. This did scream entitlement though, the workers comparing one person's footwear to another. All in all probably a good idea to get rid of them all. They are interns man, how did a manager not say to them once "hey you know what, I hear what you are saying but we have our dress code because we are client facing and feel it's important to always be business professional [or whatever reason]. For the rest of the summer I want you to focus on x, y, and z. If you really feel passionate about this, come up with a 5 minute presentation on why we should change and be ready to present in front of me and a few colleagues, if we deem it good enough we may move it up the corporate ladder. But this work should be done only after x, y and z are completed or unaffected." Sounds like a terrible company from top to bottom, elitist, entitled managers who agreed to take on interns but didnt put in the effort to help lead them to success and decided to take the lazy way out by just firing them, hurting their company image for future interns.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 02:51 PM) What 20-22 year old moron doesn't know that you don't go complaining to your boss about basic rules spelled out in an employee handbook (answer: an entitled one!)? How is it any different from complaining about the hours (Sally comes in at 8:30 instead of 8:00, why can't I do that?) or the pay or vacation time or whatever? It's an internship. You don't get a say in how the employer runs the business. It's one thing to complain about working conditions. It's quite another to complain about the dress code. What company brings on interns without expecting to have to manage them and make sure they are focused on the right work and expect them to understand corporate culture immediately? The kid's were dumb for how they went about this (already stated), but the company acted completely irrationally. If I was an exec there, I'd fire the group of managers in charge of the interns/program director who let them go. Because what it really meant was that the company didn't listen or care to provide feedback to a group of individuals most likely hired to bring in fresh new ideas. And not only that, but when this group came up with new ideas they were fired. What the f*** culture is that?
