QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 31, 2016 -> 11:07 AM) https://twitter.com/MLBONFOX/status/7707615...2879873/photo/1 National championship winning quarterback, yet his arm is rated a 40, "shows some carry, but below average overall" QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Aug 31, 2016 -> 12:38 PM) Video of Tebow I'm certainly no pro scout, but he didn't look as bad as I thought he would. Yea that video showed why his arm is a 40, he isn't creating any force behind the ball he's more just flicking it when he throws. I don't see a future MLBer in that video, but as you mentioned he was better than I thought he would be.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 04:10 PM) The sopranos was a weekly thing where people literally gathered at houses to watch. I dont think people do that as much today, but I remember in college getting together every sunday to watch with friends. I've gotten together for GoT with my buddy the last 4 seasons. Depending on where we lived at the time, we would have upwards of 5 people watching and then talking about it after.

That will forever haunt me.

Noooo Gene!!!!!

I'm surprised so many people love Eastbound and Down, I enjoyed the first season but the schtick got old for me.

I'm finally watching Oz, I like it a lot so far but not as good as The Wire or Sopranos. GOT still takes the cake for me, the complexity of the amount of characters/setting puts it over Sopranos for me.

I'd rather have it be trump field, throw up some fireworks that spell trump every homer. At least I could get some entertainment from it. Would just have to say "going to the Dump".

I've been in Orlando during August for a conference, never again. I stepped outside the hotel and was drenched in sweat, holy moly that humidity/heat combo is insane. I've been there in November for a conference as well and that was very pleasant.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Aug 23, 2016 -> 09:21 AM) Anyone know anything about coastal North Carolina and have recommendations for activities/food? We're heading to Holden Beach for a wedding and spending a week or so there. It's about halfway between Wilmington and Myrtle Beach. Seems to be a VERY laid back beach town. You are going right next to where my parents live, they're in St. James. I've only spent a week there, but here's what little tips I can give: -If you're near Wilmington at all, or have a day to explore, go to the USS North Carolina. Incredibly cool experience, you pretty much have free reign on the ship. Little kids are not encourage though, they'd find half of it cool, the other half would be a pain getting them up/down the ship ladders and they probably wouldn't care about most of the living quarters. -The beach seemed nice, but I typically go around Thanksgiving so didn't go in the water. But this is exactly where all those shark attacks happen, so be careful. -Golf is in abundance there, we played mostly at my parent's community course but if you're thinking about bringing clubs I would go. -Southport has a ferry to Fort Fisher, another cool little experience. The aquarium is right there too, but it wasn't much to see compared to Shedd (shocker). Kids would love it though, definitely geared more towards them and have some fun live shows that a bunch of kids were watching. The ferry itself was a great ride, lots of great views going up the intercoastal. EDIT: Actually I think we did the ferry from Wilmington to Fort Fisher, but would recommend the experience. -And of course, find a local BBQ joint as well as local fish shops and enjoy.

A friend wagered that the Wild would beat the Hawks in the 2015 hockey playoffs, the wager? Having to retake the ACT. tl;dr version: Hawks swept the Wild Had a party at a friend's apartment the night before the ACT Kid got smashed, took the test hungover We all woke up and drank as he took the test, and continued after Took bets on what his score would be. Probably the most fun of a bet I've ever seen.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 21, 2016 -> 05:07 PM) And Frazier commits to the Illini today! Huge pick up for Illinois! Yup very solid pickup, great job by the staff to identify him early. Hopefully we can get a PF like Kiir and call it a class.

The initial position was an internal one, but the recruiter pretty much said that my experience was way past it so she wants to see if the consulting side is a better fit. I know the travel piece will get old at some point but at the same time it kind of sounds fun, still not sure if consulting is the way I want to go. My career goal is still to get into IT leadership, I think this would lead to those opportunities but don't think it'd be any faster than staying at my current company. I just can't put up with my current leadership for much longer, and we have a new CIO so opportunities are limited until he goes through a much anticipated re-org.

I'm meeting with a recruiter tomorrow from Accenture, not sure if it's the path I want to go down but willing to explore.

Tilmon concerns now?

QUOTE (Boogua @ Aug 12, 2016 -> 02:01 PM) Yeah, he's going to be a good player, but not much the staff could have done. He also probably wouldn't have started until year 2 or 3 in the program. Yup staff couldn't do much more, that's why I'm butthurt. And disagree on the 2nd part, though I'm not as high on DJW and Jordan as others, and I like Kipper a lot but until I see his shooting I'm not sure if he'll be more than a decent slasher/plus defender. I though Jgood was going to push for starter as a sophomore.

I'm butthurt about this one.

QUOTE (Boogua @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 03:14 PM) Looks like Illinois is going to lose out on Goodwin to SLU. Damn. At least the wing is probably the position the Illini have the most depth in. I don't really care that Jgood was a wing, he was priority 1b for me (right after Tilmon). Yes, pg is a bigger need I just think he would've been so good at Illinois. I'm pretty upset about this, it just sucks a ton that Travis freakin' Ford steals him away (yes I know Tate was a big reason but Ford getting Jgood and Evans just irks me so much).

Jimmy Fitzgerald, QB, leaving Illinois. Ugh, was counting on him to be a starter candidate. Incredibly thin at QB after this year now. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 11:16 PM) chlesea isn't going for president in 2024. Please get with it, Greg.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 05:23 AM) Is it fun though? Based on the limited stuff I've seen, it seems like all you do is gather resources, build-up your ship, and move closer to the center of the Galaxy. They may be fun for a little while, but I see it getting tedious if there isn't more to it than that. Yea that's the big question, my buddy has been playing it all night/day essentially so awaiting his review.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 02:35 PM) Should try and get a Soxtalk group / clan going if there's enough interest. I'm totally down for that

QUOTE (Tony @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 11:41 PM) Way too many "Gotcha" questions in there. Damn main stream media. Screw Hillary. I honestly thought this was Greg

The Pacific is like 10% as good as BOB. If it didn't follow BOB it would've been a fine show, but BOB is a top 5/10 show ever so it was a tough act to follow.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 07:08 AM) A week on the job and I already want to gauge my eyes out. I cannot sit for 8 hours a day making phone calls. I have applied for grad school and to be a GA through athletic administration (sports information work). Grad school is free, and I get a paycheck every week including summer. So, I might go get my MBA and practice something that I know I will love doing. Any area you specifically are looking to get into? I honestly don't recommend going to get an MBA so quickly, I think getting some work experience first will help immensely for getting a job after getting an MBA as well.
