- any word on Frank yet?
The DRays website says he isn't in the minors...so I'm guessing I'm wrong. So I would guess he has 0 homers, 0 RBI, and has an average of .000 in 0 ABs.- any word on Frank yet?
To touch on a few subjects... Day-to-day usually means you are out just a couple days, and the injury is very minor, but inhibits you from playing(if you have the flu, and it is so bad that you cannot perform on the baseball diamond, you are day-to-day). Day-to-day is usually brought up when the player is injured, but is not injured enough to go on the DL. I'd let Frank sit out either the whole Yankees series or maybe this whole week and let him watch the Yanks and DRays play the Sox. As has been said, you do not want to rush him and let him reaggrivate this. IIRC, a hamstring injury pretty much took out Jose Valentin's 2001 season, and in 2002, a hamstring injury slowed Lofton down to a halt for about a week or two. It's an injury that can linger, so let him get healed up. I know he just DH's, but he is a key to the Sox success this year. And I wouldn't mind bringing McGriff in. Let him get his 500th homer here. At the moment, I believe we have 12 pitchers on the team...at some point, we should go down to 11 pitchers, and that's when McGriff becomes effective. He can play a little 1B, and he has a pretty good bat. He's making maybe $500,000, and I believe is playing for Durham. It's a low-risk, high-reward type of move. If he can give us just a little more power off the bench, he has done his job, and if we are lucky, he gets his 500th homer with us, and then retires next year.- Are you satisfied?
So do the Twins though too. That's the only bad part about that(and I have a feeling that the Twins will hit a wall sooner rather then later)- Jose Valentin
Good to hear HSC is doing well.- Loaiza deals, Sox win 5-0
You just hit it on the head. Thank you Loaiza.- Jose Valentin
Good to see I'm not the only one who gets pissed when old-ass(and by old-ass, I mean like 2 years old) threads get brought up again. f***ING STOP DOING IT :finger- New Starter in the Yank Series
Anyone have any idea of what he throws?- any word on Frank yet?
I don't think so. At the very most, I'd suppose probably a trip to the 15-day DL, and I would guess probably just take a week off and just pinch hit late if necessary. But do not take that like it is a guarantee...I'm just using my best judgement, and my best judgement could be very bad.- Double kudos to Esteban
Esteban is awesome.- What is Maggs worth to the SOX?
I hope your kidding about asking Brando is he is kidding about Sosa being a star. I dislike him very much(being a hugeass hotdog, his hop, the stutter step, the kiss-blowing...it is disgusting), but to say he isn't a star is f***ing stupid, period. That's like saying Jose Paniagua is a good pitcher. If you want me to back my point, I will. I think I've said enough though.- Danny Wright
How about this... We trade for a 5th starter(or an ace, and move everyone down, or a #2, etc), someone everyone likes, and move Wright to the pen where he is still effective. Mmmkay?- I'm pissed
- Braided lead-Off walk
It is. Didn't you see that it was added in January?- Frank's Real Problem
Thomas's OBP of .419 is 17th in the league, and his 10 walks are 4th. If he's hitting anything more then .260, his OBP is .430-.450, and his OPS is hovering .950-1.000. If he's hitting .280, his OBP is .450-.470, and his OPS is right around 1.000-1.050. Frank is a notoriously slow starter, but the fact that he is doing everything he can to help the team win is good to see. Getting on base does help BTW.- Uribe
I'm not either. But if he can hit .260 with a .330 OBP, he's done enough as far as I'm concerned, so long as when he is on first he does what he needs to(and not get picked off). If he can get in the pitcher's head, he wins, and we'll win more often.- Wood tossed, Pena gives Reds lead
I don't know about anyone else...but I thought that the first strike to Dunn in the 9th was a ball(I can't remember if it was low or outside...but it was one or the other). I thought the ump called a good 9th inning personally.- Secret message makes it into new park
This could be.- Uribe
I have a brilliant idea. LEAVE IT THE f*** ALONE. As they say, if it ain't broken, don't fix it. Jose's fine, Willie's fine, Uribe's fine...THEY ARE ALL FINE.- Jesus Christ people
- Mark Prior possibly out for the year
I can only hope so- Gamethread 4/17/04 @ Tampa
Sweet, sweet, sweet Rubber game tomorrow, and Loaiza goes against the Rays. iIRC, he still has not beaten the Rays in his career(I don't believe he did before last year and I don't believe he did last year). Tomorrow would not be a bad time for his first win.- Gamethread 4/17/04 @ Tampa
You are not the only one...as long as that is all he throws. - any word on Frank yet?
