Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 04:39 PM) Rongey and DJ are talking about Peavy maybe making a third start next Tuesday. Boy, I hope not. Get it done by Sunday. They are employed by the White Sox. They are not going to talk as if Peavy is a goner and give away leverage. Plus, it's either illegal or discouraged to do such a thing anyways. -
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:24 PM) What are you talking about? It absolutely is a failure of this organization that Crain is DL'ed. The workload they put on him for no reason was what caused this. It's a ridiculous premise. It's more likely that Jesse Crain is injured because Jesse Crain is injury prone. It's not a sitaution that's all that unfamiliar to him.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:11 PM) And he pitched like s*** when it mattered in that one good season. End of last year, he had two bad starts vs. DET, and in the third one he couldn't even finish the sixth inning. Needed a big win against the Angels, and he got rocked. Kinda similar to his limited postseason career in San Diego. But god forbid you say something bad about Jake Peavy the competitor. I love having him on the Sox, but I can't stand his apology society that says he does nothing wrong. HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT ABOUT HIM, JAKE PEAVY IS A SAINT

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 12:01 PM) Why? I think the Sox are going to wind up with a few solid deals going down. They have the best hitter (outfielder), shortstop, starting pitcher, and reliever on the market. They'll get stuff done. No sens in forcing a deal 6 days prior to the deadline when desperate teams could up the ante. You been readin my mail!

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 11:59 AM) There was discussion about trading for PTBNL with the player changing depending on how often he pitches. This is our best bet now That number needs to be reasonable, like 10 games. If it's 20 games or something ridiculous, the team can just hold him out of some games to prevent from giving up a ton. Maybe a tiered PTBNL, with 10 and 20 game thresholds

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 11:55 AM) Why wouldn't we be able too? No chance he clears waivers. That's why he won't be dealt. When he's claimed on waivers, you can make a deal with that team, let him go, or pull him back, and the odds are good the claiming team will not make a deal for him. He'll have to clear waivers, something he won't do.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 09:41 AM) Nerd - time. I downloaded a post-draft roster from 2kshare, and then made every deal/signing since then, for NBA 2k13. Welcome to NBA 2k14 - with less Pelicans. I played the first game last night, and it made me realize that the Bulls do have a fair amount of shooters surrounding D-Rose. If they sign Camby, they could be legitimately ridiculous. Oh yeah, and D-Rose went for 31 points, 19 dimes, and 9 boards, which was fun. Pffft couldn't even triple double, what a b****

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 10:29 PM) Just got a text from my source to expect huge news in the next hour or so. Said to expect multiple White Sox players moved for an intriguing package that would shock everyone around the league. Oh yeah and I made that all up. I happened to find this post rather enjoyable. It's funny. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 11:06 PM) White Sox writers need to figure it out then. Jeez. No, White Sox writers know exactly what's going on. They're employed by the team and told what to write by the team. This is leveraging on both sides. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 10:05 PM) Jeff Soptic has an ERA of 6, WHIP of 2, almost a walk an inning, and 7 wild pitches at high-A. Conor still sucks worse than Adam Dunn against lefties. Just to follow up on this, this isn't a defense mechanism justifying the trade. If anything, it's showing that it's been a good trade, just that Gillaspie should never under any circumstance play against a lefty. Theyre grownass men. They understand what's going on. What is he going to do to fire them up in the short term? This is a big picture statement, and he's not wrong. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 10:47 PM) Please find a sucker to take John Danks he is getting hammered. A lefty coming off shoulder surgery goes up against one of the best offenses in the game and gives up 3 homers to good hitters. This is the EXACT response I'd expect from you.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 09:41 PM) Gillaspie OPS under .350 vs LHP Jeff Soptic has an ERA of 6, WHIP of 2, almost a walk an inning, and 7 wild pitches at high-A. Conor still sucks worse than Adam Dunn against lefties.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 04:18 PM) I agree, that what's Bucket was saying that closer it gets the less he can say. Makes me thing that Peavy to Boston could happen very soon in my opinion. And no matter what team it is, I think it would be smart of Hahn to trade him before his start tomorrow. If the other teams want him that badly, they can increase their current offer. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 04:22 PM) If money is an issue with STL, we should pay Peavy's contract and take in more talent. I know it would never happen but to me it is entirely practical. We have more money than we will spend why don't we use it to create young talent. Ultimately, I think Jaker goes to Boston but I think the FO should do everything in their power to have Matt Adams as our OD first baseman next year. Whatever the cost. I like Adams, but 1B can be found in a lot of different shapes. If I am Hahn, I'm not doing everything in my power to get Matt Adams into town. -

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 03:55 PM) I think Rick is looking to find a SS elsewhere before he deals Ramirez. That's dumb. Not saying you are necessarily wrong, but if you are turning down good, solid talent because you don't have a replacement ready on a team that isn't going to win a damn thing, then you are making a critical mistake -

QUOTE (mike65 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 03:43 PM) I totally agree that three WS pieces is too much for the Cardinals to cover. The OP asked me specifically about Peavy and Crain and I had never really given thought to him. I still think if there is a deal, it would be Peavy by himself or Peavy plus Ramirez. The latter is really tough also because that is a lot of salary to take on. I have difficulty believing that the Cardinals ownership would do that. One of them, yes; two, doubtful. I tend to agree. Not sure why the Cards would even need Crain with their ability to pull relief pitching out of their ass. Ramirez seems to be more the Cardinals type of move, and really, I see him ending up either in Pittsburgh or St. Louis. If Peavy is moved, I would consider Boston or Arizona the favorites, with Oakland as a dark horse. I think San Fran is getting to the point of being too far down and out to make that sort of move. -

QUOTE (mike65 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 03:19 PM) I am thinking out loud here but, maybe, this for Peavy and Crain: Matt Adams Anthony Garcia Mark Rzepczynski Fernando Salas Low level pospect If we are doing Ramirez as part of it, I add Kozma I like Adams and the two relievers are decent, but in this scenario, Garcia is going to be your low level prospect and at least one more prospect closer to the majors is going to have to come to the table. Essentially, by the end of next season, that deal could become Adams, Garcia, and low level prospect for one of the most valuable trade chips. Kozma is a JAG, regardless of his defense. The Sox may as well go back to Tyler Greene, who you are all too familiar with. If Ramirez is included, you are adding another legitimately good player to the mix. Really, if you want to talk about Peavy, Crain, AND Ramirez, the package is starting out with Adams, Martinez, and Wong, and more would be needed on top of that. If you want to get creative, Gillaspie and Freese can be swapped too. The Cards are just a tough match for how many pieces that can add, but it's certainly possible. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 03:08 PM) That's seriously parsing words. Here's his reaction to the first report of his positive test: "It's BS." Here's his reaction to the successful appeal: "“It is the first step in restoring my good name and reputation,” Braun said. “We were able to get through this because I am innocent and the truth is on our side.” Here's his rant from the first press conference: "If I had done this intentionally or unintentionally I'd be the first one to step up and say, 'I did it.' By no means am I perfect, but if I've ever made any mistakes in my life I've taken responsibility for my actions. I truly believe in my heart, and I would bet my life that this substance never entered by body at any point." I mean, I technically can't find him saying "I never took steroids" in that order...but...I kinda want his life based on his bet. I remembered those quotes differently for some reason. You are right.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 03:00 PM) Haha, I was just on my way over here to break the unfortunate news but ss2k5 beat me to it. Yep, my road ends here. I just wanted to say thanks to all of ST for having my back throughout this entire deal. I don't think I could ever repay you guys. If there's a silver lining in this, I get to spend the last part of my summer in Chicago & I get to go into U.S. Cellular Field to catch a game live. If the Sox all of a sudden go on a massive winning streak, I will take total blame for it. Who has better pizza? -

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 03:02 PM) As for the Lemon trade, Kemp performed very well. Lemon was just the better player. I have no idea how the Sox couldn't see that. On the other hand, Swisher and Koch were utter duds (Swisher wasn't terrible, but played below par, and the Sox overrated him anyway in terms of talent relinquished). Why does Neal Cotts have 1 more World Series ring than Billy Beane?
