  1. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 04:05 PM) I am not a fan of Rios in the 3 spot longterm. You've come to this conclusion after 2 regular season ABs.
  2. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 04:04 PM) I thought de aza was gonna bunt a lil more this season? I hope not. He's a good hitter with good gap to gap power, just let him swing
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 03:17 PM) PERFECT GAME ALERT just cuz jinx, fudging arsehole
  4. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 03:26 PM) Ah, our first "He JUST missed it!" of 2013... DRINK
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 03:23 PM) Dunn will probably have the most HRs on opening day in MLB history before it's all said and done. This may have been the cruelest post in the history of this board. Can't watch or listen to the game and this gets said. I am all about hyperbole today. This might be my most hyperbolic day ever.
  6. If you had Colin Cowgill in your office pool for 1st grand slam of the year, you win
  7. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 02:06 PM) Tubby Smith to Texas Tech per ESPN. So he's just going to hop around middling BCS schools for the rest of his career.
  8. QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 02:08 PM) I'm ready to go! Opening Day at last, YES! this is my favorite post in recent memory
  9. Last 3 players to hit 3 homers on Opening Day, per MLB Network... Dmitri Young, Tuffy Rhodes, George Bell
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 12:25 PM) Two best teams on paper, in my opinion, are the Nats and Tigers It really is hard to disagree. I can see scenarios where both teams fall short of winning the division, but I do not see them as likely. Compare that to the other 4 divisions where I don't think there's a clear favorite in any of them.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 11:29 AM) I can't believe that in 2013, Placido Polanco is batting 4th for a team on opening day. Also, the Yankees lineup is awful. That Marlins lineup is one of the worst I have seen in my life. The only player I can say is a legitimate threat is Stanton.
  12. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 11:05 AM) They seem happy to have the most horrific defensive corner infield ever assembled. Knowing them, they'll want to make VMart a C again and sign yet another DH to get the old man a title. Alex Avila has been at least average offensively 3 of the last 4 years, and he's been awesome in 2 of those years. He's going to be the catcher of the future there.
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 10:40 AM) Indeed. Also, I think Kinsler is ultimately the odd man out. Gordon, you have two months to be good before you become Ian Kinsler the White Sox's backup. There are about 3 problems with trying to acquire Kinsler. 1) $16 mill in '14, $16 mill in '15, $14 mill in '16, $11 mill in '17, $10 mill CO ($5 mill buyout) in '18. That's a lot guaranteed. 2) He put up a .749 OPS last year. That is a worse offensive line than Dayan Viciedo put up last year, especially considering ballparks. 3) The Rangers want to move Kinsler to 1B once Profar comes up anyways.
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 10:25 AM) Strasburg, Gio, Zimmermann vs Gio, Zimmermann, Haren I'll take the latter. My point being that it's still not easy. Yes, I would prefer the latter too, but it's not like those are 3 stiffs. They're all pretty good pitchers.
  15. I just saw that we get lucky to miss Strasburg...and instead face two guys who had lower ERAs than he did last year in Gonzalez and Zimmerman, plus Haren isn't a pushover either.
  16. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 10:18 AM) In my latest blog I make my 2013 predictions. Will they work out? Probably not, but it's fun to predict. http://mlb.mlb.com/fancave/blog.jsp?conten...bid=bticCrA8024 Booooo, where's the homer pick?!
  17. Would you recommend beating Bioshock 2 before playing it?
  18. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 09:50 AM) So I think it makes sense to upset as few divisions/rivalries as possible. Moving a team from the 6-team NL Central to the 4-team AL West is the least disruptive move, and the Astros are the team from the NL Central that geographically fits best in the AL West. It's probably something they thought about a while ago and decided to do it while Houston was in an ownership transition. Or, as the conspiracy theory goes, Selig and MLB cut the new ownership group a bit of a deal to get them to move to the AL.
  19. QUOTE (Reddy @ Mar 31, 2013 -> 08:11 AM) Haha well yeah that's the one way to look at it. Lol The other way is that it allows them to keep producing and selling GMO foods even if a lawsuit regarding their safety is brought to the table. How well would that fare in the pharamcuetical world? Here, just read: http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/mpa.asp That'll clear up why this is no bueno. Takes away the courts power which is a slippery slope and a bad precedent. Worked just fine for big tobacco
  20. I can't recall where I saw him post it, but I seem to remember floridafan saying that Ravelo was playing 1B and hitting the ball really well in the minor league games
  21. QUOTE (jhonnydanks @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 09:09 AM) don't stop get it get it And everything is right in the world again
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 08:21 AM) Kevin Ware tweeted a pic of his leg (@kevinware_5). Oh. My. God. Gnarly
