Hopefully Gallagher keeps hitting. Wouldn't be a bad thing to have another quasi-prospect, even if it is at 1B where the Sox are pretty damn deep. Jordan Danks has only struck out 4 times in 14 plate appearances this year!

QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 06:51 PM) Matsuzaka getting beat around again...seems like he might be a guy that could be acquired with a big chunk of his salary paid...wonder if the Coopster could do anything with him...he's making $10 million this year and $12 million next....I'll bet Boston would be willing to pay $15-16 million of that for a a warm body just to have him gone... Where's Esteban Loaiza when you need to trade him?

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 04:11 PM) Assuming the Indians and Royals are still the Indians and Royals, the division really is ours to lose. Nah, can't write off the Twins that easily. If the Sox can beat the Twins a few times, then I'll say that.

Paul Konerko named AL Player of the Week

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 04:19 PM) I miss that offense. Well, save the horrific 8-9-1 that was Uribe/Anderson/Pods. I was at the Cardinals game that we won like 19-9? Somethin' like that. I thought the stadium was going to run out of fireworks. They also won a game in that series 1-0. Thome's homer was the only hit. I seem to recall that it was Freddy pitching, which was sweet justice since the Twins did that to him. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 02:28 PM) I know it is early, but I really didn't get them being a "favorite" in the AL Central. They just aren't that good IMO. You and I agreed on this. They're a solid offensive ball club, but I just really don't like that pitching staff at all outside of Verlander and Scherzer.

If the Bulls win the title this year, they will be remembered as a great team because they were the team that won it the year that Miami had the Superfriends. They were also in on that sweepstakes and didn't get LeBron nor any of the others.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 01:00 PM) Bad news for Joel Zumaya; Zoom I am totally going to toot my own horn. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 15, 2011 -> 09:14 PM) Zumaya is constantly a ticking time bomb. The Tigers should be thankful for anything they get from him this year. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if he didn't throw a meaningful pitch. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?s=...t&p=2337171

QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 10:35 PM) Why do Red Sox fans suck so bad? Because they still believe they are entitled and are deserving of some kind of respect from the rest of the country and that they have it the worst, as if they're still suffering. They are in the shadow of the Yankees and whatever else. Nobody feels sorry for them, and quite frankly, nobody gives a flying f*** about the Red Sox. If Fenway imploded tomorrow, I'd celebrate.

The White Sox have scored 62 runs this year. The Twins have 63 base hits this year. The White Sox have hit 3 homers in a game twice this year. The Twins have 3 homers all year. It's a long year, but they have not started out very well at all.

I really like how many people are still taking it quite seriously when the cat is already out of the bag.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 05:03 PM) Exciting stuff. Interesting thing to me was when Tiger was making his front nine charge players weren't crapping their pants and dropping bogeys like in the past. The eagle miss on the back nine was shocking After Tiger actually played well on the front 9, I was expecting him to put up 62 or some silly s***. Schwartzel is really playing well. Just not tripping over his own feet and is making atleast par every time. Never go backwards, always stay the same or move forward.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 05:20 PM) Or to get someone else into the game. Without knowing the situation, score etc, it is hard to say why. Again, I am curious to hear an unbiased read on Williams upside. I'm guessing Jerry Owens, perhaps not as fast though. Don't think he's very strong or powerful, not an incredibly patient hitter, but he's OK and can draw a walk. I'd guess OK defensively. Probably a 4th outfielder if he ever makes it, not sure that he will though. Just to point it out, other franchises do this too. In fact, the Tigers have been more guilty of it, considering they are starting the son of front office man at catcher and the son of the manager is in the minor leagues. Avila was drafted in the 5th round, Leyland in the 8th.

Adam Dunn had emergency appendectomy last night.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 01:02 PM) Tyler Kuhn pinch ran for him last night, so I doubt his speed or defense is comparable to Mitchell. Had a friend see him play in a game in Omaha, and said he was ridiculously fast, like the fastest player on Wichita State's team. And, not that it's exact, but Williams does have another son in the NFL as a WR/KR, so speed is in the genes. More likely, I would say that Williams was pinch run for because he's a poor base runner. He's 9 for 16 in stolen bases in the minors, so I am just guessing that that's indicative of his baserunning ability.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 03:31 PM) Cafeteria had lemon chicken and mashed potatoes and white creamy gravy. It was sooo delicious. Also, I had Jimmy Johns last night and it was fantastic. Not a fan of Quiznos though? Love Quiznos, probably my favorite sandwich shop actually, just wasn't in the mood for it. -
QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 04:24 PM) Pena looked great today and the defense really seemed to respond with him on the mound. With Thornton's struggles and Pena's lights out performance today, should he be the new closer? Discuss. Absolutely. Oh, and what's with Floyd giving up 4 hits? Dude needs to turn it on or he's not gonna make it.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 03:20 PM) If you gave me that list, I'd choose Jimmy Johns every single time. But I always eat at Jimmy Johns. What I'd really like is an open faced meatloaf sandwich with a serving of mashed potatoes on top smothered in gravy. But I'd have to go to a great length to do that and that is simply far too much work. I'm thinking TJs -

Subway, Jimmy Johns, Taco Johns, or Taco Bell? Leaning towards Subway, but Taco Johns is pretty incredible for curing hangovers. If you have never eaten at a Taco Johns, I would suggest getting to Iowa sometime in the very near future. -
