Tepera's going to get more than $6.5-7.5 at this rate, and looking at the Neris deal.
-
Let's throw Honest Abe in this too, just to get some more representation for the State of Illinois. Kentucky, too.
-
Predicted for months, 3-4 years was the only question remaining to be answered. Leaving Jansen, Kimbrel and Melancon as the biggest names remaining out there...

More former White Sox...

Kimbrel an early entrant in the race to be HE WHO SHALL NOT BE NAMED II. For some reason, Semien never managed to be so controversial....mostly the time lapse from trade to 2/3 Top Five MVP finishes.
-
So he won't be THAT much worse off, financially, with a rebound. Seemed more comfortable for whatever reason in the Eastern Time Zone, or at least NL East...
-
Anything over $100 million for Castellanos is absolutely insane at this point in his career. With his defensive shortcomings and some relatively inconsistent years with DET, never in a million years would be in favor of that one, unless he's largely limited to facing NL Central teams.
-
Japan or Korea? Coverting Suzuki sounds like more likely than Vaughn or Burger, lol...Mark Teahen still available? D'Angelo Jimenez? I do draw the line at Wil Cordero. They can peddle Kimbrel to the Padres for either Kim or Profar. That actually sounds like a fair deal for both sides, in terms of the financial ramifications. Maybe not so much now with Leury also on board, though.

Lost $2 million from what he would have had performing adequately for the White Sox in August and September...and ruined Hahn's sales job for that particular trade.

Sounds like a good hire for OU. Riley already took the defensive coordinator with him to USC, without a contract signed. They have to fix their recruiting issues QUICKLY, with a flood of de-commitments. Will be interesting to see what Caleb Williams does. 33% OU, 33% NFL, 33% (USC or another univ). The craziest outcome would be Ratliffe being the starting QB at OU next fall. Venables would be one name to watch for a return. Stoops as caretaker for one season, although that makes a mess of recruiting. Fickell? Kingsbury is just using OU to get a better deal from the Cardinals, where he's in the bottom 33% of NFL salaries. The bloom is off Matt Campbell at least a little bit.

One thing we can pretty much ALL agree on. NOBODY ON EARTH (MAYBE THE ENTIRE KNOWN UNIVERSE) BELIEVES LEURY IS A SUPERSTAR 2B, UNLESS THEY ONLY WATCHED ONE SOX GAME LAST SEASON VERY VERY SELECTIVELY.

Then I would either go cheap on Melancon (the Yankees already did this with Yates, $8.25 million for 2) or simply sign Iglesias for 3-4, because he's CLEARLY the best reliever on the market, with Jansen/Kimbrel options B and C (depending on need and organization's financial situation.) Who is more desperate to get rid of their player, the Sox or Phillies? The Phillies would be okay keeping Segura on their roster. They want to dump Gregorious. The White Sox would have to accept Gregorious and money back to make this work. Unless the money's good enough to afford more than Leury Garcia (and that's HIGHLY unlikely), then most fans won't like the move for Didi at all based on his recent performance. Unless all the Phillies' closing options disappear from the table, they simply don't have to give up Segura...they can force the White Sox to take Gregorious, or wait for Hahn to blink if he feels he might need to go into Opening Day 2022 with him still on the active roster.

It's no longer Jewel/Osco? They actually sell "fresh" foods? Or there's a local chicken franchise in Chicago named Jewel's playing off the other infamous Twitter ones?

Okay, Hahn and Haber and the front office types and those putting together LinkedIn profiles about scouting/evaluation definitely care about such things. The media cares, because they spent a number of articles this summer focusing on it, like we had totally turned around our draft and development system because of the emergence of Sheets. But yeah, there's no mythical championship for having the most "homegrown" players on any given roster. I guess it's fun for those who obsessively track prospects/farm systems, etc. Most of 2005's World Series-winning roster were KW imported specials.
-
Then it would have been better just to say 5 bad plays/misjudgements/mental and physical errors/bad routes/misreads, whatever. Literally, an error is either in the official boxscore, OR, it's not. No grey areas. Although sometimes decisions are appealed to the Commissioner's Office. I think the statute of limitations already passed on his ALDS play/s.
-
That would be another 'psychological' defeat to lose yet another Sox first-round pick due to badly miscalculating the market for Kimbrel. With Collins, Fulmer, Burdi...Rodon likely gone, Madrigal traded, we'd be down to just TA, Crochet and Vaughn after they were crowing (patting themselves on the back, really) about their #1 draft picks all contributing last year with a number of puff pieces. And who knows how long Vaughn, Crochet and Sheets will be around.
-
Literally, you are wrong as they were not OFFICIAL errors according to the scorekeeper. Everyone who was watching the games know they were mental/physical mistakes...and plays weren't made that ordinarily should have been by the "average" fielder in those particular situations. In spirit, definitely you are right, because Leury's return is more or less a general acceptance of some of the sloppy habits of our fielders that was never corrected during the course of the 2021 season. To expect big changes at this advanced point in his career would require bringing in Rusty Kuntz to work specifically with Leury, Eloy, Sheets and Vaughn on outfield defense.

Javy Baez Signs 6YR 140M Deal with Tigers - Morosi
caulfield12 replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Suzuki is one of the few remaining players I would actually be EXCITED about...exhilarated is pushing it. If we get one of those former Braves' outfielders from last year, you know what will happen. That said, Rosario's familiar with the division and Joc has been a target for what, 4-5 years...going back to the famous trade that almost broke and then collapsed. Something to do with the kid of a White Sox employee leaking info. Undoubtedly, the starting pitching options that will be remaining (not considering Kershaw, he seems like LAD or Texas) are a minefield. Greinke has a complete distaste for any and everything to do with Chicago. Doubt we see any GM go after Bauer, but someone will get desperate EVENTUALLY, and get a bargain performance-wise, but not from a PR standpoint, obviously. Stroman has been the one really quiet name there so far this off season. But TLR supposedly blocks that one. Looks like the trade market for a pitcher is more likely at this juncture. Biggest acquisition is essentially Vera, hoping he develops QUICKLY. Also, good utilization of more names than the typical Caulfield post! And at least my fellow White Sox fan is definitely on board with Leury, haha. Hahn did something right, for once Yahoo/Inbox Wed, Dec 1 at 7:48 AM Chicago White Sox, valued veteran Leury Garcia agree to terms on new contract, baseball source says https://es.pn/3EdCes8 -

Rick Hahn has the most dramatic two-year winning percentage increase in baseball history after compiling one of the the sport's worst from 2012~2019.

IHOP, Village Inn or Waffle House? Do they still have Denny's? At this point, I'd settle for McDonald's, but not sold here in China, syrup is too sweet. They do have Tim Horton's, though.

He stole that from me.
