  1. That's because the drunken Cubs' fans who don't even watch the game and ogle the boobs in the bleachers are inherently wealthier/more successful.
  2. Remember when we almost traded for Jones lol...? Still only a 661 ops.
  3. You bet $1000 on them to win the Central? You can always watch Cubs/Cards....
  4. expecting the pen to cover 17 outs? good luck with that philosophy
  5. 9. White Sox (previously: 9) Munetaka Murakami hit two of the White Sox’s five homers on Sunday, ending a home run drought that had lasted 13 games. A rough week for the club ended up generally manageable, with a 2 1/2-game lead over the Guardians and a 3 1/2-game lead over the Twins remaining intact. But seven games with the Yankees and Rays this week should be quite the test. mlb.com
  6. Cubs are moving on from Taillon without a ton of depth behind him, though perhaps that’s a moot point with the trade deadline now just a week away. Due to their injuries, it has been long suspected that the Cubs would add some starting pitching this summer. They already made the aforementioned Peterson and Civale deals but will presumably make some even more impactful acquisitions before the clock strikes 5pm Central on August 3. mlbtraderumors.com

  8. They can’t keep running him out there if he can’t go more than 4+ without surrendering 3-5 runs for much longer. It has become the law of diminishing returns recently.
  9. Except for Wood Jr., CJ Abrams, M.Gore and Leo de Vries… And the opposite side of it: “In my opinion one of the greatest trade deadlines not just in the history of baseball, but maybe the greatest in the history of sports. If you disagree please tell me a time a GM traded for the equivalent of the NLDS MVP (if they gave one out it would have gone to Joc Pederson), the NLCS MVP (Dodger killer Eddie Rosario), and the World Series MVP (Jorge Soler) before the trade deadline.”
  10. https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/article/munetaka-murakami-rockets-2-homers-with-parents-in-attendance-on-his-bobblehead-day-while-white-sox-clobber-astros-002145222.html Fittingly, Murakami's bobblehead reads "I have power" at the base of the figurine. It was on full display Sunday in Chicago. His parents were there to experience it again. "The last time my parents came, I was injured," Murakami said, per MLB.com. "Just being out on the field today and getting the results in front of them [leaves me] really speechless."
  11. Who are you benching? Benintendi? "Andrew Benintendi has a .250 batting average with 22 hits, 5 homers, 19 RBIs and 17 runs scored in 30 games in his last 30 games." You're pretty unlikely to get anyone to bite on the $2 million remaining for Hays over the course of 3-4 games (due to his recent injury history), but who knows? https://www.espn.com/mlb/player/batvspitch/_/id/36928/teamId/10 Pretty good numbers vs. G.Cole/Fried, etc.
  12. 658 ops probably pretty close to his Sox average actually 709 with Sox Andrew Vaughn has a batting average of .248 with 557 hits, 77 home runs, 293 RBIs and 247 runs scored in 610 games for the White Sox in his career
  13. Mune Vargas and Vasil will be the stars Antonacci and Chase the comic relief
  14. Yankees 729 ops vs lhp on season 732 vs. rhp White Sox 710 vs lhp, 728 vs rhp, 723 overall updated mlb.com 730 vs 728 overall
  15. José Urquidy with an ERA of 6.57 and 6 strikeouts in 3 appearances versus the Yankees in his career, three appearances in 22/23
  16. Soto trade for Gore Wood Abrams Hassell Susana (top 100) says hello Mune would be 8th at a .921 ops, but just 2.1 fWAR Alvarez would be MVP and still might despite Houston record/DH role...Caminero right there with him, W.Contreras third? Soto on IL, NL MVP wide open Shohei Ohtani -317 Pete Crow-Armstrong +352 Kyle Schwarber +2930 On-Base Plus Slugging 1 Yordan Alvarez DH 1.074 2 James Wood RF .953 3 Juan Soto LF .947 4 CJ Abrams SS .940 5 Willson Contreras 1B .935 6 Pete Crow-Armstrong CF .933 7 Ben Rice 1B .930 8 Junior Caminero 3B .915 9 Kyle Schwarber DH .909 10 Shohei Ohtani DH .907
  17. need is pushing it with a 2 1/2 game lead just don't get swept
  18. Currently one behind Okamoto for all-time Japanese rookie HR record...in the process of passing Ohtani. 230 vs. 375 at bats Ohtani ended his first major league season with a batting average of .285, a .361 on-base-percentage, 22 home runs, 61 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases in just 104 games played. 367 pa's Ohtani just 294 Murakami
  19. Competitive innings to give the offense a puncher's chance and bullpen some needed relief.
  20. Much more likely to throw Urquidy out there for the major league team (eventually) than debuting Mason Adams. Pirates just have too much pitching depth with Jared Jones back. Managers always tend to prefer veterans over rookies down the stretch unless those rookies just have overwhelming talent advantages.
