Wonder if Burke is wearing down a bit or it's just the hot/humid weather?
-
Burke way too tentative with a 3-0 lead. Colson still hanging in there and looking not like a deer in the headlights at least.

Maybe they'll actually give him some consistent playing time...

The Future of the White Sox TV Broadcast Team
caulfield12 replied to palehose1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Probably closer to a fraternity, lol. The main difference from the past is that it’s no longer possible to blame White Sox fans for not supporting the product of 2017-2019 and especially 2022-202_? Previously, there was a split in board opinion on ownership and the front office…but these endless 100+ loss seasons and rebuilds without a contention target date are frustrating all but the most idealistic/optimistic of fans. Now it’s about 90-95% “rational skepticism” until proven otherwise. -

And yet they had Crochet and first half Fedde…nobody close to those two individual impacts this year. -

Might as well be the same record in 2017 as 2027… Teel has a long ways to go as a catcher, Meidroth has a lower OPS than Robert, Vargas and Sosa are fatally flawed and only Quero of those five has really impressed recently. They desperately need either Teel or Colson to succeed. -

Baldwin up, Shane Smith IL, Wikelman Up, WillRob down
caulfield12 replied to WestEddy's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sure, but not being able to count on any of Taylor Schultz H.Smith for the 2026 rotation...paired with what looks to be on paper the worst offense in the game, along with questionable speed/defense/fundamental...is simply a prescription for another 100+ loss season. The pitching they do have will get stretched to the bring these last two and one half months...and numerous pitchers will need next season just to get their feet under them in rehab/recovery years. -
Two more former White Sox pitchers…
-
1989 White Sox were a year away from a 90 win team and featured two Hall of Famers in Fisk and Thomas, Ventura, Sosa, McDowell, Fernandez, Hibbard, Radinsky, Thigpen, there's just no parallel there at all in terms of talent.

Most consecutive 100-loss seasons in MLB history

Isn't the schedule much more difficult for the second half? -
Scott Merkin going with “validation” is probably not the word choices most Sox fans would go with to describe the first half… CHICAGO -- What’s one word to describe the first half of the 2025 White Sox season? How about … validation. Not exactly what you were thinking? But yes, validation in relation to the progress made by the White Sox rebuild as the organization moves slowly toward a competitive nature. Finding that progress requires a trip beyond the South Siders’ 32-65 record at the All-Star break, ranking as the second-worst ledger in baseball. The White Sox understand skepticism from the fan base on their way to a third straight 100-loss season, even while they believe strides are being made through a better brand of baseball being played. “Yeah, it's definitely encouraging, and it validates the vision that we had and the work that's gone into it,” general manager Chris Getz said during a recent interview. “We've got a young group up here with our Major League club. They're playing pretty well. “Obviously, we've got a way to go still. … We just feel like we're at a really good place to make quality decisions for the future.” mlb.com

Any flirtation with Kelenic… -
Try telling that to fans in Japan Korea and the Caribbean/LatinAm. It's basically the only time Miami ever sells out. But it will never happen during the season.

2025 MLB season...catch-all for non-Sox, non AL-Central
caulfield12 replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
The Marlins split four games with the Reds and took two of three from the Orioles to end the first half. They are way out of playoff contention but are getting some good performances. Kyle Stowers showed why he is Miami’s lone All-Star with a three-homer game against Baltimore, his former team, on Sunday. That brings his total to 19 homers, 54 RBIs, and a .911 OPS. Mickey Moniak the back up choice for Rockies’ All Star to Hunter Goodman… -
Nope…inflation in the billionaires’ club. Remember Ishbia passing on the Twins at $1.4-1.5 billion (plus extreme debt load) and the Wolves’ owner trying to bail out of his deal with Lore and A-Rod when the valuation changed so dramatically in less than one calendar year…?
