It all depends on how sensitive you believe the front office and marketing department is to perceived threats to the White Sox hold on the AL Central...in reality, it might take the Tigers leading the White Sox by 3-5 games at the ASB next season.

Or Verlander returning...

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/32647650/kansas-jayhawks-fb-jared-casey-lands-nil-deals-following-game-winning-heroics-vs-texas-longhorns Hooray for Applebee's, KU football, Greg775 and Lawrence, KS. Almost took out Oklahoma at home earlier this season...had them in real trouble, if not for a miracle "fumble-forward" play by Williams to sustain a drive and keep the ball away from the KU offense.

Freeman almost died. Rodriguez had severe effects and just signed a massive new contract.
-
Isn't that exactly what Leury is expected to get, more or less? At least $4 million for one season...just hope he's not the de facto starting 2B.
-
With the Jays likely to lose Ray and Semien, they have a lot of pressure to keep up considering they barely missed the playoffs with 91 wins. Then you have the Mariners with only six bigger contracts and Seager's unfavorable deal off the books. And the Angels desperate to break through with pitching to go along with Trout, Ohtani and a certain former Nationals 3B. Finally, many expect the Rangers to be one of the biggest spenders, along with the Yankees. If you're in the AL and not pushing forwards, you will get caught and passed from behind eventually.

Yet.

Rodon is going to get a lot more than we thought. And you can start the Correa/Seager/Story/Baez watch over in Detroit. Tigers “Very little was expected of the Tigers in 2021, and a 77-win record didn’t exactly put them in the playoff hunt. But they were three games over .500 from May 1 forward, and they are at the stage of their rebuild period where their top prospects are ready to graduate to the big leagues and it’s time to turn the corner. The Tigers are already a highly cited potential pursuer of the top end of the shortstop market, but they also have plenty of opportunity in the rotation and at catcher. Overall, this could be a winter similar to the one prior to 2004, when the Tigers signaled they were ready to roar and kicked off what became a highly successful era with the signing of Ivan Rodriguez.” https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-teams-who-could-define-2021-2022-offseason?partnerId=zh-20211114-500318-mlb-1-B&qid=1026&utm_id=zh-20211114-500318-mlb-1-B&bt_ee=SuN2c1g1VLFYtz%2BwiSJwbwQSHuz%2FCZSppgxXm8i4zNWo52YWXg01tF%2FJFeptaftJ&bt_ts=1636897324755

If Eduardo Rodriguez is more confident than Boras/Rodon getting a multi-year deal off his 2021....not sure what to say, just an unforced error.
-
Inside joke with Kyle...dating back to 2013-14.
-
TWO.
-
Moncada is not a bargain his last two option years unless he puts up 2019 numbers. Robert is never moving to RF for anyone...not even Yasiel Puig/Roberto Clemente in CF.
-
Kind of like the time in the last 24 hours when you acted offended when I wrote Kike (undoubtedly resulting in another timely board infractions report) because you didn't realize it was referring to Hernandez on the Red Sox...or perhaps simply there was nothing about Jose Abreu to respond to? At least you got two likes emojis out of that exchange, so congrats?
-
If he continues to struggle, you’re out more or less $8-10 million and you’ve forgone the opportunity to fix lots of overhanging issues coming into the season due to that $16 million being unavailable…good ‘ol opportunity cost raises its ugly head. And if he was pitching outstandingly but you realize you can’t afford two closers anymore…why bother to do it for just two months in 2021, as you were selling everyone on Kimbrel and Hernandez being 2021-22 additions as well? So now we turn around and blow up that front office assessment in order to acquire exactly which players with bad contracts on uncompetitive teams you could have had for salary relief alone, and not forced the spending of another $10-12 million to replace Madrigal and Heuer with these underachieving but more expensive veterans? Because you can be sure no fellow contending AL team will give the White Sox a boatload of talent ready to contribute to the 2022 playoff race for Kimbrel…and most NL team wouldn’t either. And the non contenders would have zero interest in a past his prime $16 million closer.

Eloy is Cuban now?
-
That’s the true definition of talking shit this offseason, any scenarios with Correa or Seager or even Scherzer to the Sox… (Although, once every 25 years or so around labor disagreement periods we sign an Albert Belle.)
-
Severino will save the day…OR, we’ll have one of those miraculous seasons when something like 2012 when 13 rookies (predominantly pitchers) contributed, although I doubt our system was consensus bottom 5 at that point. Would have to look it up.
-
Kiké Hernández
-
The only way they would give Semien five years is knowing a TA extension was out of their budget…but then Semien wouldn’t likely be a top flite SS from 2025-26. Heck, could say the same thing about all the dream/fantasy SS, even Correa and Seager.
-
To conform by changing name back to Conforto…or maybe Concerto would break the string of NL position players laying an egg with the Sox. (Although I’m sure that someone will argue Grandal has been close to great…the general trend over a decade.)
-
Still haven’t finished it…have tried to watch it twice now. This comes from a huge fan of her American West-themed indie work. In fact, throwing in an Eternals South Dakota scene seemed even more forced.
-
Losing Taylor, Kike and Seager (these past two off-seasons) makes it highly unlikely since their control of Turner is limited, too. They need to be more and more careful playing Muncy there as he ages, too.
-
If he gives up more than $5-6 million to trade Kimbrel, picking up the option will go down as a massive mistake compounded TWICE.
-
Unless you count all those guys like Seager, Baez, Story, etc., as 2B…but we clearly won’t be moving TA for anyone, not even Carlos Correa (who will get $275-325 million anyway.)
