  1. Somehow have a feeling even less will notice...but probably treated better than the men in South Korea, haha.
  2. Let’s go Cards fans, try to get a sellout for the 24th...help out our acquisition budget for June/July.
  3. For me, it was the possibility Robert might never be the same moreso than anything to do with LaRussa...
  4. Don’t think he’s bothered by stuff like that as easily as Lucas...just focuses 100% on the opponent in front of him, almost with blinders on.
  5. Lamb hitting second, really? Lamb was/is 9 for 31 against Maeda, with three doubles and two homers... SSS, 1 for 3 with a homer and 2 RBI’s versus Pineda...
  6. Now the big question is how much can be attributed to TLR, the coaching staff or just the personnel on the roster (GM)? Beyond that, how much is it free swinging Robert, Jimenez and Engel being sidelined so far? Baserunning, I can buy there’s been a concerted decision to attack more often and more aggressively. What is the HR rate compared to this point in 2019...as comparing April/May 2021 weather to July/August 2020 isn’t going to make much sense because there’s no way to isolate for changes in the game ball.
  7. Stiever, no way...not ready for prime time.
  8. He’s from India? Just curious...
  9. Presence of the Yerminator (best, most consistent battling at-bats on the team still), Grandal walks, Vaughn walks and doubles...Madrigal contact. Those are the four obvious differences. Abreu is the same run producer he has always been, albeit with a lower BA.
  10. When they have Buxton in the lineup....and we beat Berrios or take down their closer (Taylor Rogers, with Colome already replaced). That’s when we can celebrate. They’re not the same team unless those two guys are on the field, and all the late game collapses have shaken their usually unflappable confidence.
  11. 1. WHITE SOX 64 2. Astros 44 3. LAD 40 4. SFG 31 5. Toronto 30 6. Boston 29 7. SDP 27 8. StL 25
  12. Lynn, Rodon and Kopech would be my playoff rotation unless Giolito can break out of it....obviously, a long ways to go, but I definitely wouldn't start him a theoretical Game 1 or 2 next week. Remember, Giolito has 1.375 seasons of excellence under his belt, not a full two.
  13. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=80&type=8&season=2021&month=0&season1=2021&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&startdate=2021-01-01&enddate=2021-12-31&sort=18,d&page=7_30 They don't update today's stats until the next morning. Here, his average is .219, which it was entering play on WED. He's ahead of 61/243 but that will jump up quite a bit. Of course, the bigger question is the remainder of the season, isn't it?
  14. Angel Hernandez, on the other hand, is not..without a doubt. Man, the umpiring this year has been abysmal.
  15. Can we actually blow this one? Cruz homers, it's a REAL game all of a sudden. And Hendriks' ERA will take months to come back down.
  16. Here we go again....SIGH. Remarkably, Anderson's first error on the season. Let's hope he doesn't get into one of those rough patches where he commits 4-5 over the span of a couple of weeks.
  17. Knockout stuff? Highly effective, but has lost so much of his command/control/confidence. Sometimes going down to the minors and getting regular working and getting some perspective with a different pitching coach/tweak in mechanics can work wonders in terms of a season reset. Take some of the pressure off, remember why you became a baseball player in the first place. Not sure what Katz can do or suggest here.
  18. The Padres, following in the stealthy/obfuscating pattern of GM Preller, wouldn't announce publicly (due to privacy reasons) whether they'd been vaccinated in the last couple of months. The Yankees in this situation have been much more forthcoming, especially as it relates to Gleyber Torres.

  20. Jose Paniagua (The Bread and Water) Debacle. Won the first and second...barely, but momentum (yes it exists) shifted against the Sox and they won either 1 or zero games against the Twins for the remainder of August and September that year (Loiaza Cy-caliber season.)
  21. Burger just flew out to RF to leave the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th, 9-2 loss by the Knights. 3/20 .150 (all homers) Defense looking MUCH better with him lighter on his feet.
