  1. You could say the same about Jose Iglesias, and he was one of the most important players on the Mets during their final six weeks of the season. Obviously he was expecting a LOT more than a NRI to Padres' camp.
  2. RF platoon? Or are we DHing Brnintendi now?
  3. Shuster and Eder aren't starters right now.
  4. It really can't be Eder. Mason Adams would have been the choice a month ago, or Ky Bush (after Iriarte/Nastrini). There had also been talk of Berroa starting but that never materialized for obvious reasons. I guess the answer is Owen White who was with the Rangers during their WS seasons for a couple of games.
  5. Maybe they go six man because Smith only threw 90 innings last year. Or let Bryse start the season in the rotation due to some type of verbal promise that he would have every opportunity to start for Sox. Ironic that Brewers' rotation is a bit short right now and we have two ex- Brewers fighting for the same spot.
  6. But he pretty much had an iron grip on anything to do with the players, yes? There was very little ambiguity like the last decade around Sox trainers and conditioning experts....all the different messages from the front office coaches and agents.
  7. Those in their 40s and above grew up around a pretty autocratic Herm Schneider Sox regime where his word was basically next to God's. Thankfully, times have progressed and the system is much more democratized and player/family-centric.
  8. At this point...even Veras or Cal Mitchell would be a welcome respite from the seemingly never ending Colas DeLoach Fletcher. Even Maton at-bats would be more intriguing. (Or Smith Njigba lol.)
  9. So....in light of the Thorpe "setback" Who's the next man up after Iriarte and Nastrini? Obviously they also have Bryse Wilson...but the pickings get really slim now between those two guys and the Big 3 (who I don't believe will see Chicago this year for control reasons.) It might actually be Clevinger back to the rotation...as I just don't believe he can stand up to an every 2-3 days workload as a high leverage reliever with all of his injuries.
  10. But he played for the Dodgers Yankees Red Sox!!!
  11. You're forgetting Jankowski will somehow be shoehorned in here as well...
  12. By this definition, in another few centuries or so we'll have another "diamond in the rough."
  13. Can't really say "TOTALLY." We're arguing semantics here. Teams can't ever unilaterally force surgeries on their so called top prospects and highest paid players. Of course the player and their family will make the final decision...but the team doctors and agent will both be influential throughout the process, as well as independently consulted second and third opinions.
  14. Celtics just sold for $6.1 billion. New US "Big 4" sports franchise record.
  15. Yeah he and Shane Smith not getting drafted after TJS at Wake Forest are really cool perseverance/resilience stories. (Almost makes up for Burger...)
  16. See Gilbert Arenas story lol. https://www.blackenterprise.com/gilbert-arenas-signed-111k-contract/
  17. Booser at 97.3 and 97.8 ...game ends on 97.4 fly out to Burke. He might be your lefty closer.
  18. 462 ops Maldonado didn't beat that though. I'm just leery they will carry four veteran outfielders now with Jankowski added. Well six...really.
  19. Probably why Ishbia wants to keep his head down these next two years...except for enthusiastic comments about the milkshakes.
  20. Well this was completely unforeseeable since the off season...that's 5-6 significant pitching injuries now.
  21. Because it sends a "mixed message" to the rest of the Sox prospects...and they still have Fletcher Deloach Mitchell Veras.
