  1. But nothing close to sustainable was built in exchange for a decade of one of the worst overall records in baseball. We’ve gone from mid tier to 29th in revenues…unable to even compete with the likes of smaller markets like Kansas City, Minnesota, Cleveland and Detroit. And not even a single playoff series win. The attendance future looks like something from the early to mid 70s (playing some games in Milwaukee) or late 80s apocalypse, or worse, because that latter team had a future core of stars and a new stadium on the way at least.
  2. https://sports.yahoo.com/2025-nfl-mock-draft-20-giants-take-a-qb-at-no-1-overall-and-heres-what-bears-do-with-top-10-pick-044422932.html Ashton Jeanty to the Bears too?
  3. Kind of what the Pirates are doing with Reynolds and Hayes and perhaps Cruz eventually...although the results have been disappointing overall at 3B for such an early big $$ (for Pitt) extension. Still young and worlds of potential but the bat has been totally hit and miss. They made a similar mistake with Polanco in RF, though...instead of keeping Marte/McCutcheon in their primes.
  4. You can't have or be a combination of Bevington/Grifol as an NFL head coach and still keep the locker room at this point...it's dead man walking.
  5. Because Richie Zisk is the new definition of elite for Sox fans...well obviously they're not wedded to holding on to any of the players on their current active 25 man roster. Of course, that's a big part of the problem...nothing of permanence or added value other than Crochet and a handful of minor leaguers and reminiscing over 2023 Robert.
  6. Not even Getz is that dumb...Lux and Bohm would have to excel with the Sox AND be traded at the 2024 deadline for even more prospects that undoubtedly would be at least 2-3 years away.
  7. Remember...White Sox revenue sharing is not enough to make much of a difference despite operating like a small market team in a big media center. “My ultimate, kind of big-picture goal is that when we are done, that we're able to look back and say that was the golden era of Dodger baseball, and that is an incredibly high bar to even say that,” Friedman said. “That's where my focus is.” A week later, Friedman’s Dodgers were World Series champions for the first time in a full season since 1988. At some point in the jubilant aftermath, it surely crossed his mind that no MLB team has won back-to-back World Series since the Yankees in 1999-2000. Less than a month after raising that golden trophy, Friedman signaled that his Dodgers are determined to end that streak." yahoo.com/sports
  8. Angels Blue Jays Cubs Dodgers Giants Mariners Yankees Mets Phillies Rangers Red Sox and perhaps St. Louis would be teams most hesitant about Manfred plan for obvious reasons. 30% of the league is at a significant competitive advantage.
  9. And yet his overall 3.5 fWAR on the season would have exceeded the entire Sox offense...and we are picking apart all his numerous flaws here.
  10. You're welcome! The White Sox, worst team I have ever seen, kinda deserve it.
  11. Bobby Abreu was in his prime years with the Yankees? What next, Hideki Matsui? I think the hype over Matsumoto trumps him now... And I thought we were talking about the mid to late 90s Yankees dynasty, not 2009 as a singular year? Sheffield was more of a complimentary player like a Max Muncy by that point in his career. And Kenley Jansen likely makes the HoF, although he was nowhere close to Mo Rivera as a closer. It's going to always be hard to compare because of the shadow of steroids over that generation...Giambi later, Sheffield, rumors about Cano, etc. Will concede Mussina and Mo, though. Lets not forget the ability to add Max Scherzer Trea Turner and Manny Machado for LAD...we will keep going round and round in circles.

  13. But, in all fairness, as the perfect foil team, they were actually quite talented/entertaining…
  14. The Oregon State, Rutgers or Washington State of college fb. Even that seems too complimentary.
  15. LAD have four HoFers though...if you include Kershaw. Those Yankees' teams had Bernie Williams O'Neill Pettite and Posada as their secondary pieces.
  16. If those teams had two other MVPs in Betts and Freeman...
  17. https://global.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/42623978/leaks-team-meetings-losses-factors-driving-philadelphia-76ers-dreadful-start Maybe the 76ers are the White Sox with Moncada Robert Jimenez playing the roles of George Embiid and Maxey...minus the obsession with analytics.
  18. When the result at the big league level is pretty much along the lines of a Ramos/Sosa/Vargas line...
  19. https://www.milb.com/st-paul/news/boushley-baffles-storm-chasers-saints-take-down-minor-leagues-best-team-6-2 Maybe the Saint Paul Saints could have the 2024 White Sox a run for their money... That would have been more interesting to watch than the actual season. Or the Savannah Banana Slugs simply for entertainment/marketing/sideshows.
  20. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/alec-bohm/21618/stats?position=3B Bohm was worth 3.5 fWAR this past season...but faded greatly. At any rate, he was the pick right before Madrigal, and he has "only" been worth 7.7 fWAR his entire Phillies' career, so let's not pretend that even if we were drafting 3rd, we would have been much better off. Obviously taking a 3B in 2018 would have seemingly been less of a priority with Moncada already in place...but then one has to consider that they drafted Madrigal top 5 with the likely intention already of moving Moncada to 3B over in 2019 (which is what actually happened at least). Let's not forget 2018 Moncada was a very "average-ish" 2B defensively and he struck out more times than anyone in baseball (especially as a RHB) and recorded a 2ish bWAR/fWAR. And Madrigal was considered an immediate "plug and play" finished product, whereas Bohm was more of a developmental/higher offensive potential but the upside/ceiling type.
  21. Only British teachers go to dart bars.
  22. Well, they already bought high on a fading Giolito...
  23. Wow...financial creativity and vision! Of course, it hasn't worked quite so well for Chelsea.
  24. Another mini example is the Royals out spending the entire AL Central on FA and the Witt extension and going from 106 losses to the post season thanks partly to the White Sox historical ineptitude. And already doing so again by tearing up the Wacha contract...a pitcher along with Lugo that nearly any team in baseball could have "reasonably" signed a year ago. If your spending limit is $15/2 years you're no longer even in the FA game, you have to develop all your pitching through draft/development and Latin America or Asia.
  25. Drafting Buehler probably...May, a whole host of young pitchers before their injuries. Urias before his DV.
