Rookie year graded out solid/decent but still disappointing for overall draft position. https://www.espn.com/nfl/qbr Purdy being so high despite last three games is a bit shocking...so many weapons (Kittle Aiyuk Samuel) but loss of McCaffrey has been a massive setback from a team standpoint.

Mac Jones is falling apart this year as well. Irony that Hurts left Bama for OU or was basically pushed out by Tua, Caleb Williams looks like Mahomes Jr. at times, Murray and Mayfield have also had their moments. Four OU NFL guys then Gabriel will get a backup job to make five. Ofc Jalen Milroe might end up the best of them all...well, probably just under Tua, based on arm and feet alone. (And Lincoln Riley still a massive disappoint because of D, though.)

AJ way too honest/blunt. JR would never stand for it. Pods' name hasn't been added to this. Terrible team, direction of franchise and future in Chicago threatened, just at a total loss...remember when this year was once in the middle of the championship window? Unparalleled financial freedom to spend? No target in free agency too big? We went from mired in mediocrity to #30 and hopeless in even the very worst division in baseball for the better part of the upcoming decade. Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse or more embarrassing to be a Sox fan. Not even our first round draft pick wanted to be here...Growing up in Iowa, Chicago used to be a great city, the most comfortable and exhilarating one in the entire world to visit in the summers.

Let’s not forget they were forecasting Gavin Lux to be a key infield/outfield contributor as well before the ACL. Most likely at SS, though, with Seager gone. Ofc, they never expected to have to rely on Trayce Thompson, Heyward and Mookie Betts as a part-time middle infielder, either. At worst, they had little reason to trade him unless they were blown away since they clearly had to get cheaper and younger at some roster spots.

We will see soon see how talented Getz is as a used car salesman. Hahn had the talk, but we all knew it was total BS and CYA after 2022… And Grifol worse than even Bevington in many respects…credibility already blown if he had any in the first place.

They were in a much better situation roster talent-wise, MiLB ranking-wise and being able to rely on increased revenues guaranteed by a brand-new stadium for at least those first five years and now extended another five years again by a WS victory. If they traded Robert, they would need to find GG level defenders at five positions to replicate Texas…since everyone in baseball also knows Moncada, the other plus defender, will be dumped. Texas had so much leeway they didn’t even really need deGrom to pull it off in the end.

Plus odds of an extension if he maintained 2023 form for FOUR more years are zero…if you just consider how much Bellinger will get after 2023 but also spinning his wheels pretty much for three consecutive seasons until signing with the Cubs. But still has youth and 2019/23 fWAR on his side…Dodgers’ pedigree and playoff heroics as well.

Sounds exactly what Preller needs to do. Dump Soto salary and add Robert’s much more affordable one…since Hader, Snell and likely Lugo all will be gone, too. They have a bottom of Top Ten MiLB system again and the pieces to pull it off, barely. That would be putting his job on the line finally if they missed the playoffs once again in 2024. Just don’t see Getz being willing to take a risk like that right off the bat…he’s going to be risk-averse after watching 2013-2016 White Sox and how long Rick kept the job while just soinning his wheels and getting nowhere.

He simply has to repeat 2023 and first 3/4th’s of 2020…and of course stay out there everyday, or close to it. For just 3-4 more months.

Assuming it's actually reallocated to something positive that benefits the ball club and its future...not just JR's pocketbook and BoD.
