  1. The Ligues Forgot the sexual discrimination suit fired by Brian Ball. Will Cordero. That other jerk DV pitcher from the Astros.
  2. And sent Burger off to play in a collegiate league that summer in O'Fallon IL for 45 days....wonder how well he was covered by liability insurance/waivers in the event of a third major injury?? Maybe we should give credit to Getz for sparking his comeback?

  4. No way JR is that generous with a GM salary...feels off by hundreds of thousands.
  5. Jeremy "Jonah Hill" Haber being the consensus with his 190 page profile of Pedro Grifol being the clear #2 choice here doesn't exactly indpire ugh confidence either. Feel like a random Guardians, Braves, Rays, Brewers or Dodgers intern might actually be more accomplished in leaning the in's and out's of a truly competent organization with a proven blueprint for success.
  6. Needs at least thirty more games and that has been a mirage in numerous past seasons where Sept success didn't becomes a springboard to future April competitive at bats.
  7. Nobody involved in the Vanilla Ice pre-concert "fat rolls" bleachers shooting was seriously injured...and the national impact of the news to this point seems to be fairly muted. Jessie Scholtens. Was going to mention Clevinger as a sort of positive...but now the positive's being potentially shifted to "$5.5 million cost savings" for JR and the BoD. Which invariably won't be plugged right back into the 2024 team payroll/budget.
  8. "Here’s the kicker, though. The White Sox did not MEAN to acquire Barry!!!! No, the White Sox meant to acquire young Dodger minor league pitcher Jonathan Berry!!! The White Sox even issues a press release saying it was Berry that they had received, while it was not. White Sox general manager Kenny Williams noted at the time: There was a misunderstanding on reports. We were looking at a report on the pitcher and we didn’t have one on the guy we got. We’ll honor the deal. Luckily for the White Sox, while Barry never made the major leagues for the White Sox, Berry never made the majors, either." The best player in the deal turned out, most likely, to be Majewski, who the White Sox traded to the (then) Montreal Expos in 2004 along with pitcher Jon Rauch in exchange for Carl Everett, who helped the White Sox win the 2005 World Series. https://legendsrevealed.com/sports/2009/05/07/attention-to-small-details/
  9. https://www.mlb.com/news/jesse-scholtens-rebounds-with-solid-start-against-orioles Guess they didn't even bother to trouble Merkin in his current state...to travel all the way to Baltimore with the team.
  10. And then there are the White Sox, who find themselves with a bottom-tier farm system and nothing to show for it. Stock talent. Develop prospects. Thrive in the majors. Without assets to begrudgingly sell, it seems this organization has struggled to do all three. Debating whether or not Getz is "qualified" to run a big league baseball operation is largely irrelevant. We're all capable of succeeding until we don't. The question is whether or not Getz is a byproduct of the flawed system he helped create. Stock. Develop. Thrive. Those are the stages of a baseball operation. So far, Getz is 0-for-2.
  11. Bob Melvin...not so much. Will probably get fired after the season.
  12. Can't believe we can't manage to even catch the Rockies. Should be -33 after losing to the Braves tonight.
  13. You would think after all this time they would have brought in a specific instructor to work with all the young Latin American players...seems to be a CONSTANT theme in terms of lacking fundamentals when they are called up to the big leagues. Definitely seems that Charlie Montoyo isn't filling in this particular role...well, in theory he's the bench coach. This would be a totally different coaching role. Colas, Sosa, Popeye Rodriguez, Quero, Ramos, etc.
  14. Give him Getz's scouting budget for international...same domestic scouting budget....limited analytics team of 20 or under. Take away everything related to the Pacific Rim (Japan/Korea/Taiwan). Then you can start making some comparisons.
  15. About what specifically? Bullpen? Defense? Giving up/no more fight?
  16. Why oh why did they keep Bummer if they had ANY legit offers for him??? Shaw hopefully (would like to say obviously) needs to be gone...
  17. He and Santos the best "finds" of 2023, following in the tradition of Narvaez/McCann/Rodon/Andrus/Cueto in past years. Rodon more just pure luck in 2021.
  18. Especially on the road...hard enough for them to win at home with last at-bat.
  19. 2024 looks like his final season of pre-arbitration... Jesse Scholtens Contract Details, Salaries, & Earnings | Spotrac
  20. Scholtens back under 4 again with a 3.97 ERA...staff ace.
  21. Might as well replace him with Josh Donaldson for entertainment purposes. Who in God's name is going to take those extra starts? We're already trying to kick Kopech to the bullpen as things stand right now. Cease, Touki, Scholtens and lots of question marks.
  22. With KW Jr. supposedly out of the organization...who would that possibly be? Renteria would be almost appropriate...but his Sox/Cubs bitterness readings must be off the charts. Someone similar to a Jerry Manuel in the early 2000s to teach the younger players with loads of patience and perseverance. Torborg personality type. To replace Chris Getz as Director of Minor League Ops is what I'm referring to...hopefully it's not Buddy Bell.
