Crochet preparing to be starter
Burdi too. KW started that nonsense with Royce Ring and Aaron Poreda. Joins the crowd of numerous players we likely get nothing back in return for...or negative returns. Rodon Anderson Grandal Pollock/Kimbrel Hendriks etc. Almost every first rounder other than Burger/Sale. Likely Jimenez/Moncada. Cease due to the Sports Guy/Elias Curse.

Cease To Padres per Passan
We can trade 2000 James Baldwin and 2003 Danny Wright to Baltimore for Ortiz... All winning players.

Sox sign Joe Barlow
The Royals of post 2015 were definitely not City Champs...let alone Missouri State champs.

FutureSox: International Signing Preview
Insane this article was TEN years ago...and Wilder Saga still has a shadow over the DR seemingly. "(Marco) has a feel for what we need, said Del Matthews, assistant director of player development and scouting. Weve had recent success, but it was definitely needed. With the new rule changes in the basic agreement it kind of made it an even playing field for everybody and it was a great opportunity for us to ramp up our efforts and hopefully well see some fruit in a couple of years. Laumann believes international production will help the team in the amateur draft in terms of creativity. In years past, because the organization needed to add bodies the international program didnt produce, Laumann was forced to find players to fill holes instead of taking risks on higher potential draftees." ..... "After he spent the last 14 months assessing an international department that has produced one player over the past decade, Marco Paddy, the special assistant to the general manager in international operations, will add five new scouts. The amateur scouting department will also add two new scouts. While hes happy for the additional bodies in his department, amateur scouting director Doug Laumann is more pleased with the international hires. Rick Hahn last week described a department, which will add two scouts in the Dominican Republic, one in Mexico, one in Venezuela and another to cover Curacao and other areas, as bare bones." Profar is Curacao...but someone is really doing a lot of footwork in Venezuela, that was a barren wasteland for the Sox even when Ozzie and Freddy Garcia and their families ruled the Sox roost from 2003-2011...dating back further to Magglio Ordonez and obviously legends Aparicio and Carrasquel.

Who is doing all that scouting work in Venezuela? Paddy again? Or locally-based? We haven't had an academy there in ages...at least since it got increasingly dangerous with the political situation.

Crochet preparing to be starter
Kopech is almost as maddening as Moncada. I think the legend of his Texas high school pitching and "hot gun readings" in the low 100's overtook his realistic ability to pitch and not just throw. Then the mixture of off-field drama, maturing, missing the Covid19 year completely, just an array of lower leg issues that always kept getting in the way, but he still had the 21st highest average velocity among starters last year, it's just that it has never been a terribly deceptive pitch due to how straight it can be at times, not unlike Reynaldo Lopez when he's going bad. At one point, he had the makings of really good off-speed pitches, the curveball was at least decent and the slider could really feature as a plus pitch. That seemed to completely disappear in the second half, along with his confidence almost being completely shattered. More than anything, just terribly inconsistent...and finally consistently terrible for someone with his projected stuff. Feels like the word "potential" is the only word still somewhat reluctantly attached to him. At any rate, don't think Crochet ever even got to that point because of his lack of pitches thrown over the course of his career with so many injuries mixed in. For every Chris Sale or Randy Johnson with that beanpole frame who can withstand the stress of high velocity arsenals and loads of sliders like Cease, there must be hundreds who simply don't make it and flame out somewhere along the way.

Will any team give Trevor Bauer a last shot?
SSHM is like an accountant/financial spreadsheet type. I actually thought that I liked to think in lists until I started to read his posts...well, that's definitely ONE thing to do in retirement, but might not be for everyone. He might even be related to Jay Cuda...except Jay seems like more of a comedian (except to his wife probably) and SSHM seems much more serious/intense. At any rate, glad to be an occasional source of amusement.

Will any team give Trevor Bauer a last shot?
Cancelled. SSHM can have at it. Hopefully the Sox start getting state subsidies for insanely low numbers...that would be noteworthy in an election year.

Cease To Padres per Passan
The Padres need CF LF and backend of the rotation fillers to hold everything together until their top pitching prospects are ready... But Cease would be ideal for SD to line up along with Darvish Musgrove King.

Have to dump Mullins to save money and start Hilliard in CF instead.

Sox can't even get a 2B or RF...the bar there's about as low as it possibly getz.

Will any team give Trevor Bauer a last shot?
White Sox would be better off taking him out of equation, protecting Cease as a trade target by guaranteeing roster/rotation spot to Bauer. Half joking. But attendance is train wreck city regardless. Can't make it any worse than the current roster already has/does.

Have to get ball and score first drive after half as well...

2023-24 NFL Season Thread
Bears can get Prescott for a song lol. Just goes to show the difference between elite and second tier QBs. Tua also looked elite but not athletic/dynamic enough like a Love. Looking more like a product of having the fastest receivers and backs in the league...slightly ironic only winning team Miami beat was Dallas. (Dallas simply can't have good playoff luck in both sports.)

Cease To Padres per Passan
Would have been much better off with Hicks than Kimbrel. But they're in the same White Sox bargain bin FA pool. Just like Flaherty as their big addition last deadline. Value oriented but affordable for short term veterans who simply aren't difference makers anymore.

Cease To Padres per Passan
In your dream scenario where every youngster but Ortiz fits on the roster and rotates at DH...it's Holliday Henderson Westburg in the infield. Which means Mayo would be blocked. And nobody is going to acquire him to stick him at a corner outfield spot...nor will they with Basallo either. Hence, more value to other teams. But not if they hold onto him too long.
-
Cease To Padres per Passan
Because 80-85% of his value is being a 130-140 ops+ corner (likely LF) outfielder...and only the White Sox seem to love generally one or two dimensional players. He's basically a LH hitting Hunter Renfroe. Value but not premium value.

Cease To Padres per Passan
So Henderson is going there or second? You can't honestly tell us that they're going to move Holliday off that spot.

Cease To Padres per Passan
I mean...Sox fans have heard for five years how easy it is to fill second and RF. Obviously not so easy for Hahn. But it shouldn't be next to impossible, either. Not even finding competence in LF is the most be cuddling aspect...that and Sheets/Vaughn/Jimenez.
