  1. The ask for Jones was more the priority in the offseason...now he's almost become overrated and falling almost universally in prospect relisting/s, just like Colson Montgomery will by Sept/Oct if he doesn't pull out of his funk...and uncertainty about his eventual defensive position NOT being SS. The best pitcher on the market THIS deadline is worth more than a 70-80 prospect with the 2 1/2 years of control. The Orioles will end up doing enough to get them to the finish line in 1st place, which means someone more like a patch for the back end of the rotation to hold everything together. You guys can have Trevor Bauer, for free, almost. Or Flexen. Someone to just kill innings and keep the offense in games at least 2/3rd's of the time, that's enough. If Flaherty is #3, the White Sox definitely will be sitting in the driver's seat with options 1 (All-Star and...) All Star snub Fedde. You can read the write-upon on him in another thread here at SoxTalk. Or maybe just spend a ton of money to eat most of Scherzer's remaining salary. Montas, Severino, etc. Although the Mets might no longer be selling all their vets right now, that works out once again in favor of the White Sox to have one less team selling. In fact, with the logjam in the NL WC race, this might be the fewest sellers (or standing pat) in recent memory.
  2. Tankathon | 2025 MLB Draft Order & Lottery Simulator I'm not sure what's more depressing...being the A's and NOT being able to pick next year until #11, or the White Sox having far and away the worst team in baseball by a full 6 games "over" Miami and Colorado. Sad. The old lottery pick can't be in two consecutive years in a row provision. Double whammy.
  3. Westburg was the "forgotten" Orioles' prospect, along with Ortiz and Norby, coming into the offseason. There's probably 2-3 others in the outfield beyond Cowser/Kjerstad/Bradfield/Beavers. He's not suddenly going to be valued as a "stud" unless he can sustain this for the entire season, and even Beckham and Viciedo had four good/strong months in their rookie campaigns. Buyers would have been investing in fool's gold at that point. It looked like Jordan didn't even have an infield spot before the Holliday debacle in his first go-round.
  4. Now there's even a little bit of a question about Rodriguez's health (not long term), they're going to have to explore adding at least one more hitter.
  5. You basically foreshadowed his walkoff against Kopech into being, lol...2/10 before that at-bat. “I think in that scenario, [my mindset is that] the last four at-bats don’t mean anything. Just try to win as many pitches as you can.” Burger said. “I was fortunate to get a pitch I could do something with.” Burger’s home run came off reliever Michael Kopech, someone Burger knows well from his time in Chicago. [Kopech] is an awesome pitcher and an awesome person,” the third baseman said. “Him and I spent a lot of time rehabbing together. Obviously it’s a cool moment, but it’s also [against] a good friend.” While Burger’s hit will soak all the attention, this series featured other notable storylines Read more at: https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/mlb/miami-marlins/article289772759.html#storylink=cpy Read more at: https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/mlb/miami-marlins/article289772759.html#storylink=cpy
  6. You basically foreshadowed his walkoff against Kopech...
  7. Besides Kyle Hendricks??
  8. Erick Fedde SP - CWS - #20 2024 SEASON 106.1 IP 3.13 ERA 1.13 WHIP 94 K 28 BB It might be a stretch for the worst team in baseball to get multiple All-Stars, but I think Fedde deserves it. His successful sojourn to the KBO to reestablish his credibility as a starting pitcher after a failed tenure in Washington is one of the best stories of the season, and his cutter has become one of the more effective pitches of any individual offering in the game. If the White Sox don’t end up trading Crochet, Fedde should fetch them a nice return in a deadline deal
  9. And how many are confident in him starting a playoff game, exactly? Burnes hasn't been the Cy Young contender version of previous years, either. Now I just want Robert on NY LAD or Philly to put the Orioles in their place, lol. They're no longer a small market team either...but the Padres of the East. Finally Sox fans are starting to like local product Wolkow over Spencer Jones. Or Dominguez.
  10. MaN the Cubs' fan base is going to riot.
  11. How many #1/2 starters around MLB average 90-92 on their fastball??
  12. Let's see how well this holds up. Would be shocking if Thorpe finished Top 2-3 in any Cy Young vote.
  13. Schiffren legit excited for Burger...or at least trying out those lines.
  14. Black Jack McDowell is driving?
  15. No way the payroll will be closer to $200 million than $100. We're not the free spending Royals. Haha could spend up to that market on the bullpen alone and guarantee absolutely nothing.
  16. On the other hand, they DON'T trade him and he gets hurt...they're going to get almost nothing in return for him if he's out for all of 2025 and even part of 2026. In that situation, the White Sox will lose almost all control over how he's used as Free Agency becomes his one and only concern. He would want to pitch in 2026, but probably not before the trade deadline, as he would be more concerned demonstrating to other teams he's close to 100% and has his max velocity back. Let's just say there will probably be a difference of opinion over how much he will pitch in June/July. (Of course, if he doesn't have more than let's say 80 innings pitched, that's obviously going to work against him once again.) Very complicated situation with many factors to consider, both the ball club's and Crochet/his family Another major injury would give an average shelf life of 4 1/2 more seasons remaining after a second TJS/revision. He might not get the preferred five year deal in that scenario, but it will at least be 3 and maybe 4 seasons.
  17. Wood Abrams Gore Hassell and another pitcher on the periphery of Top 100 say hello.

  19. Have you noticed how few impact bats that can field at GG level are out there right now? 24:$12.5M, 25:$15M, 26:$20M club option ($2M buyout). 27:$20M club option ($2M buyout) Benintendi gets 75% of that…lol. The going price for superstars is $25 million and up.
  20. Would rather have 2-3 studs than the old “be we got five guys for Rafael Palmeiro!!!” except the bust rate can’t be that high for your top two assets. Eventually, at any rate, the Dodgers Phillies and Yankees are going to force private equity/venture capital to fight….or they risk turning into the Chiefs of the 80s and 90s. Basallo not even a sure thing at catcher…would also need Mayo AND anyone remaining not named Cowser OR Kjerstad.
  21. Back to relieving feels more likely to lead to another injury. 15 teams in on him. At least. Fedde must be at least 10-12. Would likely throw Kopech into trade to assist with 2024 as well. Yes Hays OHearn Santander Mullins all on the way out. Will have to figure out how to fit Kjerstad (dh), Cowser, Westburg, Holliday, Henderson, Adley, Mayo, Basallo…and the second tier guys like Beavers and Bradfield. Win now move for LAD Orioles Padres Seattle…would be Luis Robert Jr. with 2 1/2 years remaining of control.
  22. Holliday is the next Yoan Moncada. Just kidding. Sox fans will attempt to convince Os fans they will lose the second tier of the farm if they try to hold onto all of them…or that they will age out as legit prospects. Or that Mayo/Basallo could go to the Sox. Seems like Baltimore might be kicking the tires on Luis Robert Jr. as well.
  23. Fedde is on a lot of want lists. Back to arguing about Kjerstad, Norby, Beavers, Bradfield, etc. No doubt White Sox looking for outfielder/s.
  24. That might be a better take than Planet of Apes as second worst movie of all time. I only know Vampire facials cosmetic skin care procedures. Will have to report on any more free agents in the KBO next Thurs…and makes a suggestion they add KPop-influenced dugout cheerleaders for the last two months of the season. Most famous dance team…plays out of Incheon. 39 year old captain/fitness trainer oldest in the KBO.
