And That's a White Sox Sweep !!
2011 (83-79) Cards or whatever it was won the WS...at most they had 84-85 wins. Or 19-31 Nationals in more recent years. There was a Peavy-led Padres team that made it at barely over .500 as well.

And That's a White Sox Sweep !!
Check again. They were a very potent offense last year because of hitting with RISP (especially at home) and having one of the best... certainly most aggressive teams in terms of base running. Then their speed/range/fielding and bullpen. Pretty much every single player other than Straw is worse than 2022. Naylor Gimenez Gonzalez and Rosario nothing like their 2022 versions. Kwan in worse too. Josh Bell hasn't given them the power bat they needed so desperately, and rookies like Arias Brennan Rocchio and Freemam simply aren't ready yet.

Clevinger to IL
Last time we had any real rotation depth was 2006 when we added Javy in the offseason and Brandon McCarthy was the 6th. Daniel Hudson then comes along and they quickly dump him for the emigmatic Edwin Jackson.

Clevinger to IL
It would be nice to give him the motivation against his former team to go out and win a spot on the roster...at least temporarily...as the long man. Don't really have that defined swing man in the pen right now.

The majority of teams in baseball are now on their 7th and 8th starters already. The Dodgers' AA and AAA teams might have more starting pitching talent and depth than the Twins Sox Royals and Tigers combined together.

Clevinger to IL
The thing that sucks is that we're only 2 games behind the Guardians now...but it seems like we're already gifting them a win (to gain back some needed momentum for CLE) after getting creamed by the Mets. Have to hope the hitters can take down Gaddis and keep things relatively close until the late innings.

Clevinger to IL
He has already been overused in the early season and MIGHT be able to go 2 innings max...but then you're still probably better off going with a minor leaguer who could be sacrificed to preserve the pen and perhaps give you 3-4 innings instead. Tough call, either way.

Hahn's ego and the fact the cupboard will be so bare even with trades for the likes of Giolito and Anderson that nobody will want to take the GM job in Chicago. They ultimately will end up with a late Top Tenish draft pick, but certainly not guys that will make huge and immediate impacts like the four Himes high picks in the mid to late 80s. Unless they keep drafting relievers in the first...

Hahn/JR getting generous gift from big spending teams
“With the 40-game quarter pole having just been passed, we are starting to get a good idea as to where this baseball season is headed. Things are suddenly looking up in New York for Yankees and Mets. The Rays are good but maybe not as good as they’ve seemed. The rise of the Rangers in Texas looks real, the Padre malaise in San Diego is mystifying, and the balanced schedule has exposed the great divide between the good teams and the really bad ones in places like Oakland, Washington, Kansas City, Detroit, Colorado and Cincinnati.” https://sports.yahoo.com/bill-madden-yankees-offense-still-100000471.html Interesting the White Sox weren’t included along with those six other teams…Detroit is getting closer to .500 by the week.

Hahn/JR getting generous gift from big spending teams
Why should the Sox spend over $185, let alone $200 million, when you just have to look at the Mets, Padres, Phillies, Angels, Cardinals, Red Sox, Mariners and Blue Jays to see where that spending has gotten them collectively? (Unless you are the Dodgers, Braves and Yankees, that is. Houston, to a lesser extent, as they are once again a mid tier payroll.) There's only ONE team, the Rangers, and that's mostly without deGrom... who have pretty much spent their way into playoff position as of today. Out of 12 current teams positioned for playoff spots..SEVEN are in the bottom half of MLB payrolls. In fact, six are in the Bottom 10, with Minnesota the only team in the 16-20 range. Those six teams would be Miami AZ Milwaukee Pittsburgh Baltimore and TB. Great for baseball, overall...not so much for the future of the Sox, since they have proven incapable of running a mid tier payroll and successfully competing for much of the last decade...and now it's quite obvious there will be even less pressure to spend, if that's possible.

5/20 Royals @ Whitesox 1:10 start. Giolito VS Lyles
They just have to play Sheets until they are completely out of it. Then bring back Colas in the second half and give him another shot at playing everyday.
