QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:47 PM) Fair enough. It's not my board. You won't have to ban me. I just won't post here. Or at least not nearly as much. If I can't share my views and opinions the way I see fit without worrying about a suspension or ban then this board is no longer the place for me. Aww, don't go away, but please try to be less defensive. Really, some of us would miss you. Anyway, I'm thinking a line like this from the AJ v PV thread was a more likely inspiration for the warning than anything you did today: "I'm not sure if you have made a meaningful contribution in any thread since you've been here." Of course, I could be wrong/missed a few posts.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 02:08 PM) I almost lost my mind with your statement about Peña because the "NOT" was the only word that didn't appear on the same line on my computer. Who would want him back? Nobody. Of course I agree, but I still have a small fear of KW ego/ROI BS allowing him another chance.

The Pen has solidified quite nicely of late. We've got 4 1/2 guys that can be somewhat trusted in SS, MT, JC and CS and WO vs. lefties. Bruney has been a pleasant surprise, though in a small sample, but is there any place for the rehabbing T-Pain? Here's hoping NOT. Still, I'd like to see EJax added to that mix, as long as PV is healthy and EJax remains so inconsistent as a starter. ASB and many more off-days in the 2nd half make a 6 man rotation unnecessary in the long run, IMO.

The cream-colored Indians and Phillies home alternates are pretty sweet.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 07:59 AM) Yeah, I'd rather have a team full of guys that hate each other but play hard. I can't argue with that. Chemistry in baseball has always been overrated - I can't remember who said "winning brings chemistry, not the other way around", but it's in a regular poster's sig, and it's spot-on. Among teams you can count as having plenty of hate for one another are the Big Red Machine, the Tanner A's, the '86 Mets, etc, etc.

I've long thought that baseball players are far too sensitive to the "being shown up" thing. Between bat flips, standing at the dish watching home run balls, being stared down by Albert etc., I think a lot of pitchers should just grow a pair. I'd have to see the exact motions that were made again by AJ and Jake to fully evaluate the situation, but there needs to be a mechanism by which the catcher can let his feelings be known strongly, w/o technically "showing a guy up" or blindly trusting pitchers who 90% of the time are going to say they still "have it" when they've clearly "lost it". Just my 2 cents.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 09:15 PM) I thought he asked about next year when he is a FA. I wonder if he'll stay here or go back to Japan. -
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 08:51 PM) At least someone agrees with me. Wow, 2 people. Make it 3. We're trying to win here, feelings be damned.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 07:23 PM) Yay! Runs! AJ's first triple in 2 years At the risk of jinxing him, AJ looks a lot better at the plate overall than he did a year ago. -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 04:46 PM) bases juiced 1 out bottom 9 in LA. 7-5 kitties. Just watched the finish. Thought Navarro had hit the game winner. Papa FatA** was very lucky. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 03:10 PM) And walk away from $45 million? Doubtful. We're stuck with him. For better or worse. Would be difficult to be worse.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 02:40 PM) Teahen going on the DL doesn't create that many at bats for Viciedo, especially since Morel would just "Not" get benched as often against RHP ad 3b. I'm implying that JP is alowed to stay on the roster, at least temporarily to appease Ozzie, but is no longer an everyday player in LF. DV in LF 4 days a week (JP 2 days a week), DH 1 day a week vs. LHSP, RF occasionally to give Q or Paulie (Q goes to DH as Dunn plays 1B) a day off, plus late/close pinch hitting for Dunn vs. LHRP's. Of course, there would be other similar ways to do this, if we'd rather move Q to LF and keep DV in RF. That's plenty of weekly AB's for DV, IMO, to make a difference. -

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 01:25 PM) Sure would be nice if we could bat the TANK against LHP for him until Dunn shows some more life. Well, yeah, that's part of the reason it shouldn't be too hard to get DV enough AB's. We need to get rid of Pierre or Teahen to make it happen, and Teahen is the more costly alternative. It's the "I have to play him everyday" part of Ozzie's defense that's the most irksome. Time to have an injury faked? Send Teahen on "vacation" to Charlotte for awhile? -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 01:16 PM) He needs the day off. He isn't right, and the home crowd is brutalizing him every at bat. It isn't like it is going to hurt anything with the way he is going. I think he needs to be benched at least 50% of the time against lefty starters until he shows something. Maybe a bit less on the road. -
QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 06:08 PM) I use Photobucket myself; but, if you don't use photos much, your Soxtalk ID has storage space available to it. Go to the How does this Work area and you'll see a thread from me on what to do. Thanks, Knight!

QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 01:43 PM) If you have a link to it, you use img tags. My Controls>Edit Signature>paste the link with img /img with brackets around each>Save Well, that's just it, the photo is one of my own. Is there a free site where I can upload a photo, so as to have a url to link to? Apologies for my ignorance. The other instructions I understand.

Seems pretty clear now, to me anyway, that the service time is the issue. If we know the exact day, let's rename this as a countdown thread. Something like: T-Minus 12 days to Viciedo blastoff! (maybe)

I'll PM you guys and see what can be set up for the June 30, Thursday afternoon game. At this time, I'm going solo on the 30th and will be getting tix at or near the park. Being a weekday afternoon game, they'll likely be below face from scalpers, or we'll just get something at the window if we don't find what we want quickly. BTW, who can tell me how to get a photo in my sig? Thanks in advance.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 10:24 PM) When you have a WHIP higher than your ERA. You are either doing something really good, really bad, or a combination. His statline is an enigma. Some of the craziest peripherals ever.

I know it's a weekday series, unfortunately, but I was wondering if any of you boyz might be heading out to beautiful Colorado next week? For those who haven't been, Coors Field is a terrific park with plenty of activity in the surrounding LoDo neighborhood. There's also no shortage of cool outdoor activities in the area, for families and everybody else. I live in Golden, which is one of the real garden-spots of the area, and a neat little town with the world's largest brewery. Despite being at the western edge of the metro-area, I'm a mere 20-25 minutes from being parked at Coors. I mention this because I have a buddy who can usually get me the employee rate at one of the nicer hotels in downtown Golden, for friends and family who visit from out of town. Essentially, the deal is $55 per night, tax included, for a 2 queen-bed room that goes for about $130+. I MAY be able to hook a sizable group up with such a deal. I'll be going to the Tuesday night (the 28th) and Thursday afternoon (the 30th) games. Other enticements in Golden include tubing on the river running through town (way cool), the Coors Brewery tour, and drink prices at the local dive reminiscent of rural Wisconsin, circa 1978. There's also a rather unique and high-quality golf course for you duffers out there. http://www.fossiltrace.com/ I realize now that I should've posted this weeks ago, but flights are cheap, or if you drive like I do, you can make it here in ~15 hours. It would be excellent to meet some of ya'll!

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 10:58 AM) Edwin Rodriguez done as a Marlins manager. Writers are reporting Marlins want Ozzie long term, but will hire interim and go after him in the offseason. Since Ozzie's under contract, it would have to be post-firing or via trade, no? KW will have to make nice now, perhaps, for the rest of the season. This could get interesting, or more frustrating. If Ozzie wants out, but the org. wants more than the Marlins are willing to give up, he'll probably send Oney on a "scorched-earth" campaign. Seriously though, Ozzie knows that his relationship with JR has bought him a lot of leeway, and that a loose-cannon like Loria would not tolerate Oney being Oney.
