  1. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 05:38 PM) Egbert has to be put on the 40 man before next year unless we don't like him. I'd be rather amused if they let him go just because you would throw a fit.
  2. I'm just banking on a freak of nature to come along, but there could be another change in the game that allows for 300 more easily.
  3. The 06 Tigers had some similarities to the 05 White Sox and the trend continues this year. I've been saying this for a while. They added their big bat (Sheffield vs. Thome) and the offense is/was top in the league. The pitching has been slightly disappointing.
  4. 70-37?! Holy hell. What a team...
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 04:58 PM) Does someone actually have a list around that has our picks by order, and who is/isn't signed? Thanks. BA Draft Database
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 04:46 PM) Any info on what happened with Gomes? Is it a personal problem, or a drug suspension? Don't know, but it isn't really that newsworthy because he's been out since mid July anyway. Not quite sure if he was injured or already suspended because it wasn't listed on the Kanny transactions.
  7. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 03:10 PM) Nice article, one question, what did they give up to get Billy Killian (the catcher) from Texas? Good question, I wish I knew. I just saw in the Kannapolis game notes that they acquired him. Potentially interesting pickup.
  8. Sox Move Six Up, Other News Sox organization makes a flurry of moves The Chicago White Sox finally made some big name promotions this season with six players getting promoted. more... A whole ton of information in this story. It sums up all of the moves made.
  9. QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 12:52 PM) Is it just me, or does anyone else think Chris Young is vastly overrated? Yes. He's been AWFUL when not hitting leadoff and overall his obp is still below .300. Any sort of clutch split is embarrassing. However, when he hits the ball it tends to go far and he is a 23 year-old rookie. He's doing what I expected so far except he hasn't matched the good walk rate he had in the minors. I'm still not worried about what we gave up. He has to continue to improve (which obviously he should, but you never know).
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 08:35 PM) Get me Jay Jay Okocha too, and maybe Savo Milosevic...and I'll watch every game. Okocha not only has one of the coolest names, but is really fun to watch. I would always get him on my FIFA (video game) teams.
  11. I remember Hawk getting a question in the booth a few years ago about ducksnort's origin. Hawk said when he played they called it a 'duck...passing gas' as only Hawk could say because you couldn't say fart on the air. Apparently they told him it's ok and he is going with it. Ducksnort sounded better.
  12. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 02:51 PM) I am a generous god. 300!
  13. QUOTE(frankie5angels @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 01:48 PM) Maybe JR and KW sold their souls in 2005 to win the World series. I'd be ok with that.
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 06:55 PM) Pods RBI triple, Sox up 1-0. Shut em down Danks. That's all you get. Guess that means we lose.
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 02:47 PM) Don't like the age number, but everything else on that stat sheet looks really good if that link guy is the guy. Low walks, more than 1 k/IP, low ERA, nobody hitting him at all, couple more Hr's than I'd like to see. Don't forget the Cali League is a huge hitters' league. Those numbers are actually pretty sick, but age is a huge factor here. He may have a fair shot at making it to the bigs, but I don't know about his upside. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 02:52 PM) Were people seriously expecting us to get a good prospect for Mackowiak? Yeah, I'm not sure why people are so upset. It's not a huge loss. People were begging to get Rob out of here before he got hot.
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 10:15 PM) Holy hell. The Fire signed Paulo Wanchope. f***ing solid. MLS and the Fire know they can't have the Chicago market as one of the worst teams in the league. Blanco and Wanchope is a damn solid MLS duo.
  17. It's a shame the dumbass Wrigley bullpen attacked Michael Bourn. That was awful.
  18. Winston-Salem lost 9-7 Bakker 4 IP, 5 R Brooks 2.2 IP, 6 K, 2 BB, 2 hits (he did allow all 3 of his inherited runners to score though) Zaleski hit 3 guys in 2.1 IP Kanny got PPD
  19. On a random note Collaro is 0 for his last 20, but with 6 walks. Go figure.
  20. That's crap. If you want to use butterfly effect you could say Bush killed everyone on 9/11 for not responding to the warning signs. It's a stretch and I don't want to get into the politics of it, but the point is the same. This is more direct, but it's the helicopters' faults they got in a crash. It's awful that people died, but that would be a horrific injustice if they guy was charged for the murders of people he had no direct contact with.
  21. They're just better cheaters than we were. Oh well.
  22. Dubee k'd the side 1-2-3 in his Kanny debut, heh.
  23. That was a fun game to watch. Good times.
  24. Jerry Owens with a HR? Wow! His first career HR. Danny Richar and Jerry Owens are the offensive highlights today, who knew?
