Petricka to AA. I wonder if that means he was working on something in high-A or if he is switching to the bullpen. Certainly didn't deserve it merit wise.
-
Not sure what game you guys are watching. The Bulls are playing like s*** on offense. They're not getting some calls, but let's be honest, they're a terrible team right now.

Knights @ Gwinnett Leesman Jacksonville @ Barons 6:30 Bayne Salem @ Dash Buch Hickory @ Intimidators Walters

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 4, 2012 -> 09:02 AM) Suspended 50 games for violating MiLB rules on PED's. Started an appeal, but decided to waive after 10 days and start his suspension. He should be back for the 2nd half. He's tarnishing my rep with AAPs. Eduardo Escobar, Chris Carter and Fautino De Los Santos have made the Majors.

New foreign prospect alert (kind of): Garis Pena. 20-year-old from the Dominican. Spent three years in Toronto's system with sub .600 OPS numbers in the GCL and the Midwest League. He played shortstop for Kannapolis tonight and had 2 hits. It's weird that he would be playing in the Midwest League at 19 and then released. Was he a throw in from one of the trades?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2012 -> 11:20 AM) Silverio off of the DL and going back to Kanny http://dashboard.mlblogs.com/2012/05/04/si...rns-to-winston/ That's Winston-Salem, not Kanny.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 4, 2012 -> 12:50 AM) I think I'll be the last person in the country without a smart phone. I'm already one of the few without facebook. Yay anti technology. I applaud you for facebook, but not having a smart phone is more like masochism than a statement.

Jared Mitchell 2012 - Improvement on the way?
danman31 replied to chisoxfan09's topic in FutureSox Board
I have a hard time believing an ankle injury significantly took away speed. Short-term, or maybe even a couple years after, but long-term that just doesn't make sense to me. -
QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 3, 2012 -> 12:43 PM) Hasn't missed a game all year, and today is a day game. No big deal probably. I think it's more the fact that he left in the middle of the game. It's worth following up on.

It doesn't have to be why he was moved, but it could be. Also, it gives Saladino more versatility.
-
Yeah, good point by Phil.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ May 2, 2012 -> 08:19 PM) Weird that Wsox seemingly prefer starters with only avg. velocity fastballs and like all their bullpen guys to throw minimum 95. I don't know that that's true. I think it's more that if you have a below average fastball you better have good secondary stuff if you're going to be a starter. A guy like Petricka throws hard, but he doesn't have the secondary stuff so he profiles as a reliever even though the Sox would prefer him as a starter. Not to mention Webb had been a starter before sucking this season. That was his second relief appearance after four starts. Oh and links... Dash @ Potomac Petricka start 7 K, 0 BB Augusta @ Intimidators Pangilinan HR

Stults or Axelrod could start in doubleheader
danman31 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'd like to see Axelrod go as a starter. I hope the lack of a start in between (just the long relief outing) doesn't bother him. -
According to the Kannapolis twitter Daniel Webb is throwing 95-99 out of the bullpen tonight. I guess that's why the Sox got him.

QUOTE (SnB @ May 2, 2012 -> 12:12 PM) as DJ would say, "great googly moogly" I don't know what to stare at. Too many good choices.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 08:58 PM) 23 k's in 94 PAs. That's still a significant improvement. It's a bit of hope.

Is The Simpsons even a comedy anymore?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 29, 2012 -> 02:58 PM) Way too soon for him. Not an option until he at least gets a stint at AAA. And his overall numbers still aren't pretty. I like Saladino, but not yet.

Knights lost game 1 5-3 Not much noteworthy Knights won game 2 11-1 2 HR for Johnson, 1 for Danks Barons @ Montgomery Castro Dash @ Wilmington McCray Intimidators @ Rome Walters

Axelrod deserved it by blowing away AAA, but I hate to see him be forced to throw out of the pen. I'm not sure his stuff translates as well in relief.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 08:19 AM) Wow, the minor league appeals process is that short? Supposedly the one at the major league level takes a couple of months from beginning to end. I was thinking if that was the case in the minors, they didn't want his disappearance for two months once his appeal failed to disrupt B'ham too much, which is why they didn't promote him. The Trib article mentioned they dropped the appeal after 10 days.
