  1. Liam very often goes to the MLB logo on the back of his cap with his index and middle fingers and then rubs them against his thumb. Maybe just a habit or superstition but he does it often enough that it sure looks like he's using some sort of substance.
  2. I'm shocked he hasn't resigned. I thought he was gone the moment TLR was announced.
  3. "Lance needs to shut the fuck up and know his role." Real "family" atmosphere Tony is building.
  4. What this whole fiasco has taught me is that LaRussa is more concerned with his legacy than he is with managing this team. In his head, he's apparently convinced himself that by calling out Yermin and apologizing to the Twins, he's putting his respect for the game and his own personal consistency (see Tatis comments last season) above all else. He's being noble. A statesman of the game. Creating a narrative of "he always put the game first, even when faced with difficult decisions". Of course, the popular abandonment of "unwritten rules" is just one more piece of 2021 baseball he doesn't comprehend, much less recognize. I really believe he's completely unaware of the damage he's currently doing to his legacy and, rather, thinks he's enhancing his legacy.
  5. Reasons Sox signed Adam Eaton: He's a cheap veteran stopgap He's a veteran to counsel the young Hispanic players
  6. Agreed, but ultimately he's the manager and, because of that, he has every right to make an example out of Yermin. You and I may hate it, but it's his team and he runs it how he sees fit. I mean, I imagine most on this board immediately thought that that dong would be controversial the moment it came off Yermin's bat. We all knew it flew in the face of the "unwritten rules". Personally, I loved it. But I don't manage the team.
  7. I don't but I seriously doubt Tony would've delegated that responsibility to Eaton.
  8. The apparent Eaton scolding pisses me off more than TLR. TLR is the manager and sets the tone for the team. If he doesn't want his guys swinging 3-0 up 11 runs, well, that's his clubhouse and he sets the rules. Eaton? He's a veteran but he's not a leader on this team. Worry about your own damn at-bats and find a way to stay healthy, Adam. That's on guys like Yoan, TA, and Jose to manage, not some scrub white guy who's been with the team less than 2 months.
  9. Enjoy? http://blackdogue.net/Playgirl2/SteveStone/SteveStone.html
  10. They moved him to the 3 spot in the order because he lacks interest and effort? As far as I know, Steve and Jason haven’t had access to the players in well over a year. They aren’t even making road trips. This is Stoney going off on his own. Pretty rich for a guy who posed for Playgirl to hate on another guy who advertises himself as a pimp.
  11. 5-9 spots were 0-18 with 6 strikeouts. That’s not going to work
  12. Yoan is a swagger guy. When the ball isn't in play, he's moving with a certain air of superiority, like he's too cool for the game. Rarely can I think of a time where he doesn't try hard when the ball is in play on defense. I do think he takes the occasional AB pretty lightly, but never at a critical time. FWIW, I'm a huge UGA fan and if Yoan's swagger on the field pisses you off, get ready to also get pissed off at Justin Fields. He walks up to the line of scrimmage with the same "who gives a shit" swagger and can definitely give off the same "he doesn't care" vibe as Yoan. Divas, some would say. I think Fields will be great but after watching him at UGA and following him at tOSU, he carries himself much like Yoan.
  13. He'll get there. This is a guy who wasn't even a passable receiver less than a year or two ago. Instead of nitpicking, perhaps understand and appreciate how far he's come.
  14. This. Maybe I'm just forgetting but this crackhead-ish rock he does on the mound while getting signs just screams nervous energy. I mean, he usually rocks, but he's looking like a damn dope fiend with this year's rock. He's far too amped up and putting too lofty of expectations on himself.
  15. I think we're going to see Kopech hit his highest pitch total to date, this evening....perhaps as high as 85-90 pitches (if needed).
  16. I actually liked sticking with Lynn there. He's an accomplished vet and a no-nonsense kind of dude. He wanted that inning and it was right of Tony to give it to him. I don't necessarily agree with not having anyone warming, but no issue letting him finish it and get out of the jam.
  17. Jose Ruiz is dominating and a very clear replacement for Marshall. Marshall has been atrocious all season while Ruiz has looked fantastic. Stoney even alluded to Ruiz taking on a more prominent role in the pen with (unnamed-aka Foster and Marshall) "guys currently struggling".
