  2. They’ll wait until the all star break. That’s the White Sox way. Especially with guys who need minor league AB’s.
  3. People said the same thing about Tyler flowers. He turned into one of the better defensive catchers for several seasons after being considered an offense only catching prospect. in my experience, defense tends to develop much more slowly for catchers, likely due to the overall complexity of the position But if they have the right attitude and work ethic even lost causes can become at the least passable
  4. They specifically said Eloy was the closest competition to Guerrero for hitters
  5. He’s playing against high schoolers. It really doesn’t matter. If he was any good he’d be in the states by now
  6. So you’d be disappointed if we passed on two hall of famers??? No kidding
  7. Really? That seems like pretty black and white thinking. A .670 vs a .705 ops. Is more or less the same guy to me
  8. That was so effortless
  9. The results in the DSL mean almost nothing. Don’t look too far into it, if they still suck after a couple years in the states then start worrying. Some of the DSL players are 16 playing against 21/22 year olds who are just org filler. Their stats mean very little, they’re just getting reps and physically maturing down there until they’re ready to come stateside. The only exception is when someone is very young and still crushes it
  10. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 10:29 PM) It's pitchfx but I don't think it's available to the public. I'm guessing it's the amount of drop in inches (or in this case the amount it doesn't drop) between the exact 3d position the pitcher releases the ball and where it ends up over the "heart" of the plate -- also mapped 3d. Anybody know for sure? Probably a pretty good guess, or something along those same lines. I’d guess it’s proprietary information that and reach team may use a slightly different model. Regardless it’s a cool way of looking at what type of fastball a pitcher throws and how a guy can have success even though he doesn’t throw it 100
  11. Joan Baez pitched against W-S today. Didn't realize she played ball too.
  12. QUOTE (KnightsOnMintSt @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 09:52 AM) Really good trade for both teams. Them only risk is on the White Sox end. We just traded one of the best pitchers in the game. And we didn't get anyone above High-A. This deal is all about potential. Love the White Sox going for it though. Our farm is loaded! It's actually a great fit for our system as we have a ton of high level talent in the upper levels but our lower levels are still (or were) a bit thin. We really have some top talent at all levels, from the DSL all the way up to AAA. Pretty exciting. If we don't have the top system in the majors then I don't know who does.
  13. Great list, makes it so much easier for me to keep track of some of these new guys and where they ended up
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 10, 2017 -> 08:14 AM) Yeah, you don't touch this guy with a 10 foot pole. I agree about giving people second chances, but there is no excuse for molesting a 6 year child regardless of age. None whatsoever. Even if you get past your own moral high ground, drafting him is only going to add clubhouse drama going forward. No reason to put the rest of your prospects in an uncomfortable spot. This I worked mental health for 10 years. People who are pedophiles are damaged goods and they don't get better. Lots of talented players out there to add to your team who aren't profoundly sick people. He can go earn a living in a different walk of life. The world always needs ditch diggers.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 3, 2017 -> 07:59 PM) Dan Remenowsky. I wrote a long treatise on him a while back, and how he was an important lesson for me in prospect analysis. Just read it. Great article and a good lesson for all of us about the difference between Having great stats and being a true prospect.
  16. Who was the relief pitcher we had during that period that was just about unhittable for several seasons but never a prospect? I think it was remenowsky? Thought he was the next Keith foulke, got exposed as soon as he hit triple A. He was so damn good in the lower levels it never made sense to me why he wasn't a prospect and also how he could dominate all other levels until AAA.
  17. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 6, 2016 -> 09:53 PM) Someone feel free to prove me wrong, but Great Falls tends to be college players while the AZL is high schoolers. Hansen was struggling against the same batters a few months ago and got sent to the bullpen and is now dealing. Not true, he was struggling against only some of these guys a few months ago. Most of the players he struggled against in college weren't good enough to be drafted. The players in rookie ball are the top 10% or so (total guess) of the players he struggled against in college plus a few HS'ers, Dominicans, etc... Who are very talented as well. His turn around has been remarkable, no need to even qualify it

  20. I thought he was the next Keith Foulke. At worst. He was dominant in the lower levels and a sure fire can't miss prospect in my eyes....but sometimes there's a reason guys go undrafted.
  21. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 07:32 PM) As a fellow overly tattooed scumbag, I approve of this addition. +1
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 11:06 PM) Maybe Coop teaches him a cutter? Haha You're the winner!
  23. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 04:58 PM) That's a game score, not a pitch count. Don't ask me what a game score means though. It's a way of quantifying a pitcher's performance in a game, kinda like passer rating for QBs in football. You get points for innings competed, strikeouts etc... And points deducted for hits, runs and so on. Corey Kluber had one of the all time high scores this season with I think a 98. That was a CG shutout one hitter no BB's and 18 K's for comparisons sake.
  24. Does anyone know what kind of arm he has? We all know about his other tools but I'd be interested to know what scouts say about his arm on 20-80 scale
  25. Anyone remember dan remenowsky? Absolutely dominated the lower levels, had a k/9 of almost 16 one season. Thought he'd be the next Keith Foulke.
